That Loud Pack The only reason AB Soul won't break through or connect as much with his music is because his music lacks soulfulness/melody. Alot of dark beats. I also really don't know what his true style is and wish he didn't rap using the new styles artists are using. The best artists to combine both are Nas, J electronica, Damien Marley, Old Lupe, Kendrick, Cole, Black Thought, Common and etc. But I don't see most 80's babies and under connecting.. Maybe in the west but not on the east coast much. I'm rooting for him though because he has a message.
Ab Soul most def underrated that being said even though this album is pretty good Control System is still his best album to me right now. Maybe this one will grow some more gonna be bumping this one throughout the rest of December along with Gambino.
Lyrically I think he is the best of this new generation, he doesn't hold back and you do have to actually listen to his bars, you could catch a new bar every time you repeat the song and not to mention he kicks that science. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Tyler D Exactly, and even though it's not a secret, a mass majority of people are unaware of it and don't exactly understand what makes America a company.
CTG and a lot of ppl don't understand the funkadelic and jazz era...that's our music and a lot of black ppl don't appreciate that so they will diss or write off Kendrick album....white ppl appreciate our music more than we do....I love our music, music is so dumbed down now
rodolfo sial facts and most blacks don't even know our history, so the write it off but when someone white does they think Irs cool or some get mad that whites r doing.....but we partially let our musically culture get taken away from us
xdivision100 as a fan... a pure fan... this is Cole's best work... as a fan it is not his best work... this album was for his wife and daughter... I must respect him for that... if he was to die this would be his greatest album... it was okay but it wasn't great too me as a fan... I'm proud of Cole for being himself and being honest AF... Soulo album was MF beautiful flames bruh... let someone say Soul is overrated and I'm a be like it's about time...
John Hurd I'm not too sure man. I would consider myself about a pure fan because I've been listening for J. Cole for a long time. Bought his albums and always supported. I never disliked any of his albums until this one. I feel as though he hasn't progressed. Same flow, but with different lyrics, different beats, and this album really could have been a 2014 Forest Hills Drive ep. His latest album isn't a change up from his others. Some one like Kendrick Lamar (not to compare) has continued to improve and progress his sound. All of his album sound different. J. Cole didn't do anything new on this album and I was a lil disappointed. Still a good album, but after dropping songs like False Prophets and Everybody does this album was a let down.
brian mora and I do agree with you as a fan... your right on all of that I actually agree with you... I didn't even really care to replay the album I had Soul on repeat all night but Cole was just one listen... I'm a go back and knock it and let it marinate with me... but how I feel about it is how I feel about it... I'm glad all of this music is out haven't had this happen since the 90's... great day too be alive if you love the music that's out... appreciate the feedback overall though...

can we all just appreciate soul right now, i mean i thought he lost it to be honest. i didn't enjoy these days.. but THIS ALBUM! i'm so glad hes back this thing has been on repeat since it dropped. few rappers can make my jaw drop with their lyrical content and concepts and this man needs to be recognized!!!!!!!! the album is full of food for thought and insane wordplay. even the instrumentals compliment his dark evil genius style and im glad he took extra time to figure out the mixing because it sure shows
He's right, shits coming full circle and we have the ability to look back at what it was like when the circle first started, those who choose not to look back at the past are doomed to repeat their mistakes
daboyc_o _ yeah I have it and its not better than cilvia demo and its definitely not better than souls new album its good but he went a different way from his sound when he first came out and ive fucked with him before cilvia demo.

he kind of reminds me of eazy-e to me ... well his demeanor like the glasses and the long hair and the way he wore his fitted and when you see him at some angles they look alike.
***** LOL there's a lot of people say who can say that about Cole nigga!!!! Cole is not that passionate or exuding strong emotion in his delivery! Kendrick is the ONLY one I can think of that does that who is worth mentioning. Find a better reason.....
I am an atheist and never heard of Ab-Soul until this album came out. Do What Thou Wilt is the best album of the year. I listened to it 6 times on Friday.
lord.quasimoto I usually don't mention it, because it's irrelevant and everyone has a right to their views, but atheists don't typically praise music that has a lot of religious references. This is the first religious anything that I didn't immediately turn off.
ive noticed soulo "accidentally" refers to the us as a company and then corrects himself to country, in every interview hes done since the album dropped. coincidence? it feels almost intentional. mans a genius
The only reason AB Soul won't break through or connect as much with his music is because his music lacks soulfulness/melody. Alot of dark beats on the album. I also really don't know what his true style is and wish he didn't rap using the new styles artists are using. His lyrics are witty and deep but he needs to know how to construct a good song/album together combining both soulfulness/musicality and lyrics. I'm rooting for him though because he has a message.
Silenthashassin' Most hip hop heads want to hear lyrics but they want a combination of good lyrics, beat and melody. Like I said, artists like Nas, Damien Marley, J elec, Kendrick, Cole, old lupe, black thought and other artists can combine the two. You should know that and they're all more lyrical than ab soul with arguably the exception of maybe Cole. Ab soul will be another immortal technique (even though both of them are nice lyrically, especially immortal, they aren't great at constructing music and lack that soul/feeling in their music that can move the people/culture)
Silenthashassin' lol are we listening to the same album? Most of his beats were dark beats. Ab Soul lacks the type of style/soulfulness to move/impact the culture(His label mate Kendrick does) You just can't feel his music. And you buggin Damien Marley is a lyricist and he's considered reggae/hip hop. Have you listened to his music discography and distant relatives with Nas? He's grouped in that genre but he's also hip hop. Also Lupe doesn't just put words together, especially his older music. I can tell you're not a hip hop head... I never said Ab soul wasn't lyrical at all, I said that he lacked soul/musicality/feeling in his songs and some of the way he would flow on certain beats were sounding like some of the current artists. Stop acting like you don't hear it. Rappers do that all the time. Dave East one of the newer artists i somewhat like did that which was disappointing. When it comes to Soul and Cole, everyone will have their opinion that's why I said arguably. And my comparison with Soul and Immortal technique is that technique could never break through and connect with the streets/people/culture in ways other conscious artists like mos def, roots, talib, pharoah monche, nas, common could not because of his lyrics but because of the music/soul/feeling. There are plenty of people who are extremely great lyricists in hip hop that struggle to make great music. He will stay underground which isn't a bad thing but through listening and knowing the game/culture you should understand why
Troy Lira With all due respect I feel you should rethink your mindset simply because he's only done one other project since CS and back when he did CS his beat selection was less K dot inspired imo he saw kendrick and Q using newer flows and experimentation and wanted to stand out sonically These Days had good beats and nice lyricism but i think his accessible sound threw his fans off from what Soul's music usually embodies. DWTW as a woman ode has this forced feel on 1st listen but breaking it down raw totally pineal gland and huey knew totally track two/world runners.
STOP THE DEBATE..this his best album and if you understand things inter dimensionally then it’ll put pieces together..this is for the most part VERY SOUL-FULL sacred ancient knowledge
GODSON He definitely got a conscious side. He don't like tpab? Well I noticed he likes to have unpopular opinions so that's probably why. For example, a lot of young people didn't vote this year but he stuck to the unpopular opinion of you should vote. He likes to play devils advocate sometimes because he likes the attention.
i need to buy this, this is my 1st time listening to him talk. I never heard a song from him but his concept is what i have been thinking for 10 years-the divine feminine
GURU GEM then you need to go back to the old stuff first bro. Everyone raves about control systems which was great but with Soulo you gotta just do homework he not an artist you just jump on to
Y'all go support this nigga. Cole album dope, but show Soul some love, this nigga been killing it for years.. Soulo ho3 💯💯💯
That Loud Pack he's a west coast legend
That Loud Pack word bro
That Loud Pack I like his new album more than Control System

+johnkeem103 Meh because wale?
johnkeem103 those are the top lyrical rappers in the game right now what are you talking about
Corey Brooks Nas, Andre 3000 & GZA would be more lyrical than those 3
Darnell Jackson I was saying people who are currently putting out music more often
Corey Brooks "Of all time" doesn't mean current. You're competing with past, present & future when you use that term.

I am bumping Soul's album more than Cole's because he is rapping. Even though I bought Cole's album.
and Soul's album is actually ambitious and interesting unlike Cole's.
dallashood67 Coles is better
*****
Ab Soul's has like 10x more quotables and "run that back" material than Cole and I am a Cole fan like that evidently.
Cole Lamar there's no passion or concern with what he is saying. it's like he's talking to a wall not an audience
*****
LOL there's a lot of people say who can say that about Cole nigga!!!! Cole is not that passionate or exuding strong emotion in his delivery! Kendrick is the ONLY one I can think of that does that who is worth mentioning. Find a better reason.....
I ain't even get to hear his album yet but I already know it's slept on which is a good thing
Malik Moore you haven't even heard the music yet youre giving it praise
Autumn Nigavelli that's what happens when you like an artist you expect good music from them so you made no sense into saying that

" Company .... Country " that was Not A mistake
Those that KNOW are in the know.
I like how soul took that off topic rant about Kendrick's album & tied it into what his album would be like. Everybody cant deflect as smart as that
Kendrick Lamar and Cole better drop that collab album sometime next year.

The only reason AB Soul won't break through or connect as much with his music is because his music lacks soulfulness/melody. Alot of dark beats on the album. For example, a lot of young people didn't vote this year but he stuck to the unpopular opinion of you should vote. He likes to play devils advocate sometimes because he likes the attention.
He said the sound of it. Like majority people, he expected it to sound like GKMC.
