It really is such a shame. If she'd waited to leave LM, there would be less bitterness between them. If she'd just apologised or acknowledged her conduct, there would be less grief. She must have a terrible team of people around her who don't understand how to pitch her as a soloist or are just so ignorant that they can't understand why people are so mad. She really thought she was serving Beyoncé standard of performance here and what is worse is that she probably has friends, family, and even fans telling here that she ate here. Technically, she did great. Stable energy throughout, singing live (for atleast 30% of the song 😂), hyping the crowd (even if its not working 😂), and doing full choreo. You can definitely tell that she's a performer, her stage presence is present.
But all of these are shaded by the hate that she's getting, which she deserve actually.
And yes, guitar and backup dancers did so well 🔥.

She is doing so much wrong with her solo music career:
- Alienating herself from Little Mix and therefore much of her fanbase
- Using a sample in her first song instead of coming up with something fresh and showing what makes her unique
- Her first song being filled with lyrical cliches instead of showing her true personality
- Changing her look up so much in her music videos and performances making her less memorable
- Focusing too much on dance and less on vocals which I think is the most unique part about her (her voice is unlike any other)
- Blackfishing which is not only offensive to people of colour but also distances her from potential white fans
- Losing trust and respect of her audience by acting like a hypocrite complaining about people bullying her but letting Nicki Minaj bully Leigh-Anne, while also likely lying about her ignorance surrounding blackfishing.
I don't know if she can ever redeem herself now.

Literally every single song on planet earth is sampled now so there will always be familiar sounds. That’s actually a buisness strategy that some artist rely on because of the fact once you hear a familiar beat it’s easier to relate to . Sometimes it’s more blatant then others like this one is obviously a very memorable melody , Saweetie often relies on the sampling , My type , icy girl , tap in. Tbh the only artist who really use new sounds are artist like Lady Gaga on charmtica and art pop where she collabed with Dj Sophie , those sounds are all original and built from scratch. Even extremly talented popular artist do that like Bruno Mars , most of his biggest hits are sampled

I think the disconnect is this.......... whilst she was in Little Mix, Jesy elicited a lot of empathy towards her for being vulnerable. People felt for her and started to really fall in love with her for being open, genuine and vulnerable.
The minute she announced her solo career, she started losing supporters because she'd been saying how vulnerable she had been feeling in the band and how she wanted to step away from the lime light, to then immediately anounce her solo career!. Many people sniffed a rat and wondered if there was even any truth in her initial statements regarding her 'wanting to step away from the limelight'.
From personal tragedies arises the chance to write and produce an album from the heart. Christina Aguilera's 'Stripped' is a perfect example of how a female artist took the pain from her childhood and wrote about it. She kept the album close to her heart and gave it real emotion. In turn both the album and the singles were hugely successful.
The trouble with Jesy's efforts is that they seem a little insincere. The Americanism of the music video was so jarring because Jesy is a Brit through and through. She started her career here in the UK, so to see her detach herself from not only her band, but seemingly her country was quite cringe. Then to sing about bad boys was double cringe. Had she capitalised on her raw emotional feelings and showcased her emotional side on a first single, it would have attracted so many people who would buy in to her personality. She likely would have had more success.

How is it shameful because she talked about how she felt? When people talk about how they feel it is a problem. Correct me if I'm wrong but how is what she is doing any of our business. She is a human being doing what she wants to do and people stay saying rude things about her. I do agree she shouldn't have said some of the things she said but everyone makes mistakes.

I didnt say it was 'shameful' or a 'problem'. READ what I wrote. I said the whole thing is a shame really, because if she'd have been honest from the beginning and handled things differently, she likely would have experienced a different outcome both with the public and with her solo career.
I'll now correct you based on your wrong......she MADE it people's business when she openly spoke about how she felt in the band and how the girls made her feel. She made it everyone's business when she allowed Nicki to Diss her band mates. By openly speaking on the matter and putting it out in the media for everyone to read, it becomes a forum for other people to share their opinions. It's called 'freedom of speech'. If you put it out in public for the interests of the public (because let's face it, celebrities don't gave a career if it isn't for the public) then people will consume the story and give their verdicts.
At the end of the day she's allowed to do what she wants and handle things the way she wants to handle it. Its a shame that she had to endure the years of misery she endured as part of the band. I feel awful for her, but the manner in which she moved on from the band has been handled terribly. THATS where the problem lies.

I totally agree with you. If she had sung about her suffering and the difficulties she went through, it would have been better for her than singing this superficial song. Her problem is that she no longer accepts herself and is trying to change herself, whether in her appearance or the way she sings
She just lies a lot. During the time she was in little mix, she said she loved the music she made and then turns around said it wasn’t her sound.

Honestly I think she's still not that used to singing an entire song by herself without breaks. In little mix she'd focus on her solo and during choruses it's not that noticeable if you're a little out of breath from dancing or cut out for a second to catch your breath because there are 3 others still singing. These things however are really noticeable if you're performing alone.

It’s not the same being a girl group. Dancing and singing in a girl group is easier simply because you get a break from singing when it isn’t your part and when you think of it parts were split up between 4 girls and when you think of it jesy didn’t get as many parts assigned in comparison to the other girls. When singing and dancing solo it’s a lot harder because now you have a whole song if just you. There is no break unless you create them

It isn't so bad. Energy came off as aggressive in the beginning, ngl, but she is used to performing for a group with lots of fans. Strong attitude, too, that works for her. The whole thing just isn't working out in the context of her current popularity and public perception. The whole thing just makes her come off as unlikable, no matter how well she would have performed.

This was incredibly well worded. It makes me think of Nicki for example, in her early interviews there’s a different level of humbleness even though her talent was already undeniable. I think you’re onto something when you mention she’s used to being part of a group, she expected the public to think of her as the breakout star of little mix but when you’re the jamaican accent vine girl it doesn’t work out. Camila had shawn, plus she was the lead of her group so that helped. Jesy needs new management or she’s gonna fail in the industry.

@@LeoMaraschino Camila wasn’t dating Shawn when Havana came out and she wasn’t the lead singer of her group. However she was definitely the most memorable one because of her unique voice. Her first solo crying in the club flopped badly on the charts. She released 2 more songs which again didn’t do well commercially. Havana along with some other songs were released as pre album tracks and people ended up loving it a lot so she made it a single. Basically she got super lucky with Havana. Also I feel like Jesy has always been the least liked member of LM and she went solo too late, almost a decade after formation. Example- if Perrie had gone solo 4 years ago, she would have done extremely well because her vocals are pretty much the best, I would say even better than Ariana or Demi and she has the looks and 4 years ago, she basically looked like a model which is what “stans” love. But Jesy, she was never liked much and didn’t have much of a chance.

It's not a bad performance, it's not even a bad song... but she just couldn't connect with the audience. She's a new solo artist, public opinion about her is polarized, and her fanbase isn't solid enough yet.
