    How do you like Speed, Map and Compass overlay data? Should I keep it in future videos?

      I like it Igor, though not needed as you drop NERD info every 10 minutes in your videos.
      If not too much trouble in post production. keep it! 😁

    Nice to See that Leopard 50 Irvette. It was launched when we were in Cape Town in Late 2020. I have spoken to the owner Paul quite a bit before they sailed north. Not totally sure I like some of the features of the new Catana 50. I do like the opening front windows. That will help while on anchor for sure. No back space is not for me even though we have canvas up there on our boat … The ikea furniture style is also not for us. Pity you guys did not sail to Porto Santo then Madeira then down to Canaries. A lovely couple of islands you must sail to some time. Maja has been to Morocco and really enjoyed her holiday there. We had a Catana 53 with curved dagger boards docked next to us in Thailand and that I think is a very nice Catana with the helms still at the back. we have a big 82 m2 screecher up front on our bow spirt on a harken furler. It moves us in the winds less than 11 knots. We have a lot of that here in Asia.

    The lack of deck hatchets is to avoid unwanted sun heating in to the hulls in warm climates.

    Igor, do you have an idea of what kind of sailing vessel it was doing 13 knts...According to their MMSI, Addiction is a swiss boat 20mx9m. Must be a cat? I am asking because it looks like Addiction stopped in Las Palmas Gran Canaria as well not far from where Mystic is. I thought maybe you had a chance to discover what brand it is. Just curious... Thx for your great video again!

      I like Catana more as 2 rudders, 2 engines, easier to manoeuvre, more comfortable on waves.

  • @deerfootnz
    @deerfootnz 9 дней назад +1

    Interesting boat. This catana looks like the best deal in performance cats at the moment. That dinghy is stupid. What happens when you get a 200kg dinghy aground, or you have to carry it up the beach?

    Wow, there is not much boat in these 50ft :) considering that this boat costs around EUR 1m, performance should better be really good. I wonder how big is the market for this kind of design, looks like it is neither particularly fast nor particularly comfortable/practical.

    • @IgorStropnik

      It’s on comfortable side and sails better than charter catamarans.

    Some depth charges will fend off the orcas

  • @Cpt.Crazy87
    @Cpt.Crazy87 9 дней назад +1

    Try putting net instead of sand in the water. Orcas always come from behind and are clever. If you let your net into the water with 20 kilograms at the corners, the animals actually know what the net can do and usually let go. They are very clever. Only protect them from behind with a net and then you're good.

    • @IgorStropnik
      @IgorStropnik  8 дней назад +1

      Good idea 👍

    • @moonhand8311
      @moonhand8311 5 дней назад +1

      How on earth do you spread out a net of any horizontal (or vertical, for that matter) depth? You have to lay a net, not just drop it over the stern. You won't be laying a net when orcas are around!

    • @Cpt.Crazy87
      @Cpt.Crazy87 3 дня назад

      @@moonhand8311 prepare net on Land. If orcas come from behind, you only have to lower the net into the water with the weights. The net will never be vertically downwards as you are in motion. It's all about keeping the animals away. You can also use soap if the net bothers you. These are just Tips that have worked 3 times so far.

  • @waltervanderboor

    Love your presentations that's worth a 'like', but the boat is not. (Man what a mess these people make, as a sailor I think everything should be stowed away and clear 100% of the time.. then you mention "Theres' no storage space" thats bad) this boat is doing maybe 1 kn more than those cruising cats in 50 ft. And thats logic. water line length determines more than anything. The Bali style cockpit is a nice feature, but then the galley.. the nav station, the front cabin, the lack of hatches its all not great. Catana missed the opportunity to deliver. (thats my opinion anyway). Still wondering what type of boat passed you at 13 kn.. If I have to gamble its a long boat 80-100 ft
