That's awesome... it didn't occur to me that you could hook an FT232 board straight into the NABU's UART, though it's obvious in hindsight. I ended up going the USB to RS-423 route as suggested by DJ Sures. It looks clunky but it works great (the trick is to buy a good quality 5-pin DIN MIDI cable with removable connectors).
AgonLight is great. I'm in Australia and got my hands on a NABU. The biggest impediment was psychological i.e. trying to reconcile the fact that shipping was about $200! Once I stopped looking at the cost breakdown and looked at the total price (around $320 all-in), it was less painful lol

I have been thinking about getting one of those Argon Light and writing a NABU layer for it - couldnt get them to AU/NZ when they were on ebay
