So Ultimecia's rework basically put her up to the average standards of the current JP meta. Her BT got extended to 8T, self 50% HP Cap Up so more turn deletion and damage, she gained more HP atks on her skills so it was a good rework but I feel like with villains or characters with unique abilities they tend to hold back for some reason and I don't know if it's just me but I think for a fan favorite they could have gone just a tiny bit more with her Rework. I feel like they should have increased her HP Cap even more since she burns through turns easily but at the same time with the rollover effect we have in JP with the HP Dmg Bonus, I think that's why they held back. If you wanted to knock out a boss during her BT Phase you'd need a follow-up attacker. If you took her to heavy HP fights like the Memorial Battle for example you'd need heavy support if you want to main DPS her or just take advantage of her unique turn deletion from her BT Effect. Other than that, she got the update that she needed for a while now but with her, I think you'd have to build around her for an optimal setup. All that missing is Griever himself, her pet beast just like how Rinoa has Angelo. So maybe an actually Griever mode later on would increase her kit power. Be interested what damage be with Cissnei follow up and Fujin wall damage. If that is the boss for her, be cooler if we fought a soceress enemy.
One of the things I noticed is characters that already have a BT when they get their Echo in JP/ 95% of the time they're weaker than any of the characters that are already out. So for example characters like Lunafreya, Rinoa, Yuna, Vaan , while they're usable, already had full kits, and when they got their echos, they got a little stronger to be viable, but they're not crazy compared to new units, or units getting brand new BT's, Characters like Lightning are an exception because they revamped her entire BT, and truth be told, outside of her EX/Echo spam her damage is still ass (4HP dumps with no follow ups topkek). The only time older characters become S-tier in JP is when they get their FR or Echo and or a new or updated BT (Yda, Aranea, Cait). I think when a character like Minwu gets his Echo he'll be pretty good but not game breaking, but meanwhile when a character like Xande, Eight, Gau get FR/BT they're going to be nuts since they're going to be completely new characters when they get both a BT and FR
Yeah it’s unfortunate. These old BT holders are also slightly disadvantaged, especially the supporters. Look at Yuna. The bulk of her auras comes from her BT effect and it’s only 8 turns. Then look at the old ‘LD only’ characters. They have way better auras as base and becomes way stronger with BT effect. Yuna’s recent rework didn’t even adjust her s2 auras which has been awful for years
So ulti gets a crap ton of free turns and can be used for cheese i can see why they wouldn't go all out on her cause she can run most battles but herself shes reminds me of Cor's infinite there busted in there own way and in the future you know they will get better thats hows the game works. You have have to consider that she deletes turns AND has free turns its like she never going thats basically considered free damage build the fr Guage to 999 and spam and when it runs out still spam Boss fights are getting thicker and the turn count isn't. you want magical free turns of damage there u go. add units that can attack outside of there turns. maybe see of luna or noct can make it so that ulti when she needs to take a turn doesn't hell we got ex fillers as well she okay for now but we will see what the future holds I really believe there a reason they hold back on characters pretty soon boss fights are going to get ramped up and difficulty so we shall see
I somewhat agree to that. People who get reworks but have the old BT/effects tend to be at the bottom of the barrel. At least Jack Garland is amazing again. His rework doesn't look great on paper but testing him out they gave him justice at least. Same with Lunafreya. I think the same outcome will happen with Minwu
I don’t play JP, but comparing her to other characters that have come out over the past couple of months, I definitely agree that they held back on her. I feel like they hold back on any character that can be considered a turn hogger. Well, except for Tidus when Shinryu started 😂
Aranea and Lightning already set the standard for that and no other fast turn rate character has came close to them yet it's not looking pretty now lol

I personally think the rework is terrible. (Not talking about the BT rework giving her more cap up) you never gonna be using her as your main DPS person unless you're a masochist. If they don't want fast turn rate characters dealing a lot of dpt, then why does lightning do insane amounts of damage. Ultimecia aoe damage isn't enough without off-turn it's really sad to see how much HELP she needs RIGHT AFTER GETTING THE REWORK. Doesn't make any sense to me. The Yuna rework is looking better than this now
