The woman who played Shelton Benjamin's Momma is standup comedienne Thea Vidale. Her run with the company was cut short due to needing heart surgery about a month before WrestleMania.
In all honesty this cash in felt epic more because it followed a pretty good elimination chamber. Edge only holding it for a short period might have seemed bad at the time but he went on to establish himself as one of the top guys at the time.
Love to see the Golden Up for it. Edge cashing in will probably always be my all-time favorite WWE moment. Nothing before or since has made me pop that loudly.
Next Retro Ups and downs I recommend Lucha Underground Ultima Lucha 1. Mainly because it's coming back (kinda?) In the form as MLW'S Azteca Underground with El Jefe himself.
Don't forget Team Lesnar vs Team Angle.Benoit and Cena being the survivors of that match had a long term storytelling impact leading into WrestleMania 20.
I remember when the money in the bank match was announce it was explained that it had a contract that guarantees a any title shot at any place or time. So they did give an explanation on how it works we just never seen being cash in
Cena/Carlito/Masters as a final 3 in Elimination Chamber feels like Reigns/Cesaro/Rusev as the final 3 in a theoretical 2020 Rumble. Your heart roots for the underdog to pull the upset but your mind sees the result a mile away
How about very retro with WrestleMania V - The Mega Powers Explode! It has some prime action in tag matches with Rockers, Hart Foundation, and Demolition. Rick Rude v. Ultimate Warrior for IC belt. Also, the match that was my favorite as a kid, Mr. Perfect v. Blue Blazer. As well as an all time great Piper's Pit.
This PPV has a special place in my heart for one of my favourite personal WWE moments. Our local movie theatre was streaming the PPVs, which was also such a cool experience even though there were only maybe 25 people there. But they accidentally cut the audio out right as Vince McMahon walked out. So everyone in the theatre was shouting and trying to lip read what in the world was happening. And the only word we all caught (and all shouted out in almost-unison) was “Edge”. The audio came back as Edge was getting into the ring, but those moments of just a bunch of confused and hyped up wrestling fans trying desperately to lip read and then the big triumphant “Edge!” was such a surreal moment that I always remember fondly
As a youth my father took me to a wwe house show. The spirit squad were there before their tv debut, and two of them were piled on top of each other and suffered the fate of the “Visagra”. The crowd popped for it.
Also, I loved Masters. I was one of the only ones cheering him during his second debut and he pointed to my sign, such a bummer he's not around anymore.
Lets see if we can break Simon. The Katie Vick storyline, the Mark Henry - Mae Young Hand baby Storyline, December to Dismember (2006), WCW Thunder April 26,2000 (david arquette winning the WCW title)
Since Backlash is this sunday my suggestion will be Backlash 2009. it features: Chris Jericho vs Ricky Steamboat Jeff vs Matt Hardy (I quit match) HHH, Batista and Shane vs Legacy (with the WWE title on the line) Edge vs John Cena (last man standing)
@@andrewlaing8122 I agree. There is absolutely no entertainment value in reviewing a man's rock bottom in detail. As a passing thing in a top 10 and to highlight his progress sure. But an ups and downs is bad taste
I rewatched this quite recently. It wasn't a terrible PPV leading into the main event. I would probably have it at 5 ups and 3 downs before the brown down of the main event.
You just unlocked a memory I had completely forgotten, I had that board game with the DVD! I was about 7 at the time so I don't completely remember how it worked and i don't have it anymore but I definitely remember my brother and I playing it because we were obsessed with WWE at the time
Survivor Series 2008 Or New Years Revolution 2005? thank you WhatCulture! Or Unforgiven 2006… or Bad Blood 2004. just watch that ppv I thought it was a solid one! :) or Vengeance 2005🙈
Superclash 1 i implore you. It has an unexpectedly great cage match and given that it was a massive multi promotional event akin to what is currently happening in aew/impact/njpw
I remember this pay-per-view live got my either my aunt and my mom to order it for me when I was younger I was so freaking happy when edge took the title from John Cena because I was so pissed when he won so pissed edge made everything all better
I was here with my bro/ sis and wife. She had a big Kane sign and I had my Kurt Angle sign. When Big show broke his cast on HHH you could see the plaster dust fly up into the arena from the high seats, was pretty cool
First of all, I elect Undertaker's first ladder match againt Jeff Hardy on Raw July 1, 2002. Second, that WWE DVD Board Game was a lot of fun. My cousin and I played it quite a few times.
Wrestlemania 8. Flair vs Savage, Hart vs Piper, Shawn Michaels break out match. Let's FINALLY do a retro show from something other than the attitude era ruthless aggression era or current era.
Modern Wrestling Fans: "The attitude era was so great" When they see something that resembles the attitude era: "OMG problematic, Offensive, dated, objectifying, buzzword buzzword"
I can't remember the name of the PPV or what year, but it had a brawl in front of concessions stands and Dusty Rodes fighting someone on a tractor trailer.
Summerslam 2005. Hogan vs Michaels, Mysterio vs Guerrero for custody of a child!
That was Dominic Mysterio lol
Dominik Guerrero
This. Just for seeing Simon's thoughts on Michaels overselling the shit out of that match. xD
TNA Destination X 2008 so Simon can watch Shark boy and Curry man vs 3D as well as Samoa Joe, Christian and Nash vs Angle Styles and Tomko
ECW HARDCORE HEAVEN 1999 🔥🔥🔥🔥
( RVD VS JERRY LYNN IN A CLASSIC)
Backlash 2001. Brothers of Destruction vs 2 Man Power Trip. All the belts r on the line in that one match.
The woman who played Shelton Benjamin's Momma is standup comedienne Thea Vidale. Her run with the company was cut short due to needing heart surgery about a month before WrestleMania.
Unforgiven 2006 Cena v Edge TLC, dx v big show hell in a cell. One of my personal favorites
In all honesty this cash in felt epic more because it followed a pretty good elimination chamber. Edge only holding it for a short period might have seemed bad at the time but he went on to establish himself as one of the top guys at the time.
I just wish WWE had given us a Cena vs Edge Main Event at WrestleMania.Their rivalry brought the best out of either man.
June 27th 2011 episode of Monday night Raw. The night of the Pipebomb Promo, I'm sure Simon would love to read it word for word.
New Year's Revolution 2017 was LIT bruv!
Love to see the Golden Up for it. Edge cashing in will probably always be my all-time favorite WWE moment. Nothing before or since has made me pop that loudly.

I always hate storyline involving being a parent of someone. They always suck.
@@mrdude88 what do you mean, Claire Lynch was the best storyline in TNA history!
The mother was probably booker T's wife
It was only a couple of years back lol
Jason Jordan 🤷😂
Fully loaded 2000 please.
It might have Voldemort in the main event, but it's one hell of a ppv !
At times, I still can't believe Trish Stratus graced us wrestling fans with her presence.
What do you mean? She was awesome in and out of ring and had the whole package

Survivor Series 2003. End of Undertaker's ABA/Big Evil gimmick, as he is buried alive. Austin's team vs Bischoff's team, Goldberg vs Triple H.

Retro ups and downs from no mercy 2008 chris jericho vs shawn micheals ladder match

Survivor Series 98 'Deadly Game' - when the Rock went corporate. Awesome twist
Flub me sideways 😂😂 classic Simon!
The memorable cash in still remember
Shelton's mom was comedienne Thea Vidale. She actually had her own sitcom in the mid-90's called Thea.
Yup, Brandy was one of her kids on the show.

2006 is WWE’s best year and I’ll die on this hill. You NEED to do Unforgiven 2006! A lot of feuds came to an end there.

it features:
Chris Jericho vs Ricky Steamboat
Jeff vs Matt Hardy (I quit match)
HHH, Batista and Shane vs Legacy (with the WWE title on the line)
Edge vs John Cena (last man standing)
omg this was my choice!!! thank you so very much! this was awesome as always!
Let’s get Wrestlemania 9, need some proper retro ups and downs
I don't think we've done a early wrestlemania yet which is sad (before 10)
Victory Road 2011 the Jeff Hardy incident. We’ve had a streak of good PPVs so it’s time for a bad one
There's no entertainment in that. I'd be disappointed if whatculture thought it a good idea to review that show

The kickstart of a memorable rivalry ending with that 5 ⭐ TLC match at Unforgiven 2006.That should be the next Retro Ups and Downs.

This PPV was on Chris Masters' 23rd birthday!
The 1st Raw Roulette in Vegas with the TLC match!
I remember the Show vs HHH match and absolutely loving it lol
Shelton Benjamin mom was comedian Thea Vidale. Excellent comic
Edge actually talked about Vince with the cash in, and he wasn't aware it was gonna happen until Vince told him at the show.

Thea Vidale is still a hilarious comedian today and if she came back as Shelton's Momma I would mark out.
