  • Installing the Arbor Press Quick Jig:
    The Arbor Press Quick-Jig is designed to work with most 1 Ton Arbor Presses which have up to a 1” unmodified ram, and while stamping on a flat / level stamping surface.
    Start by lowering the ram and position the metal collar around the ram. Position the Arbor Press Quick-Jig onto the ram - you can rest the ram down onto the jig using the upper magnet in the jig to help hold it in place. Position the metal collar so that the set screw is facing a flat metal side of the ram (not the plastic of the jig), and lower the collar down over the round portion of the jig - this should be a nice, snug fit. With the ram still resting down against the jig and sitting on your flat stamping surface, use the provided 3/16” hex key to tighten the set screw against the side of the ram. You want it snug, just not so tight as to crush the jig.
    Using the Arbor Press Quick-Jig:
    Once your Quick-Jig is installed securely onto the ram, then you’re ready for stamping!
    Snap your metal stamp of choice into the corner pocket against the magnets and position your work piece under the stamp.
    The Quick-Jig helps keep your metal stamps vertical for good impressions, allows for easy positioning over your work, as well as allows for quick changes between stamps of varying shapes and sizes.
    IMPORTANT: It’s important that your work piece is placed on a flat / level stamping block surface, and that your metal stamp remains vertical at all times in order to avoid slipping.

    Oh, this is exactly what I was looking for! I also want to buy an arbor press and this exact adapter, but I'm not sure if it would work with my stamps. Can I send you a picture with 6 different stamps so you can judge if I could get even punching results with it? you would help me a lot! if not, that's ok too. have a nice day! :)

    will this work with my 3/4 inch round 4" long stamp?

    • @JonathonHarris
      @JonathonHarris Год назад +1

      Hey there - possibly - the largest stamp I've tested is a bit larger than that, at 7/8" round, but I had cut it down to 2-1/2" long. The issue could be the force needed for a stamp area that large and a 1 ton press. For larger stamps, I'll anneal, and use a brass hammer on the top of the ram while holding the handle with downward pressure. Would also need to check clearance for the ram though, as the steel collar is 1" wide, so would have to subtract that from the travel distance.

      @@JonathonHarris How do you anneal? What is that?

    • @unmintedltd
      @unmintedltd  4 месяца назад

      @@WhiskeyDogBeardHey there! It's a process of using a torch (like propane) and heading the coin or metal to either a dull red (like silver) or until the colors dance on the surface (like clad coins), and then quenching the metal in a dish of water to quickly cool it off. It softens the metal to make it workable. As you then work with the piece, it will work harden as you go, and you can then anneal again and continue as needed.
