I performed the bios update on my m17r5 that was just released on 10/08/2023 and now my laptop will not start, the screen stays black and the power button flashes 3 red and 6 blue, I don't know what I can do because I'm on a trip overseas atm and I really need it right now.
I couldn't find my power adapter.. I think I may had thrown it out due to live wire... I'm ordering a new one right now. I'm going to thank you in advance, it was an expensive laptop, I bought a red one and I held on to it for 5 years since it broke, I didn't think I would find a tutorial to fix it and omg I didn't know you can plug an usb drive into the eSATA port!
Hi Jimmy, I followed all your steps but when the computer is turned on, the fan come on, lights on keyboard comes on but that’s it. Seems like it’s not even reading the USB, which has been formatted to FAT32 and file name changed as you instructed. Also inserted in SATA port. No beeps or anything, even left it overnight to see if anything’s changed
I did a version of this procedure on my M17x R4 but only removing the battery and not the GPU. This is what was suggested. Wish I had seen your video before. I got the bleeps occurring for a few minutes or so and then silent except for fans at full speed. I eventually switched it off manually and when i tried switching it on again, no lights came on at all, it was completely dead.
Doesn't work any ideas? I followed everything 100%. I flashed the a12 unlocked prior and it worked and I enabled integrated graphics and now black screen. I extracted the file and renamed onto a fat32 usb into sata port holding end and still doesn't beep. Just is high fan speed and system lights but black screen.
I fixed it. The USB method I don't think worked at all. I put in a different GPU which wasn't supported and it beeped 6 times and after that I put the og GPU back in and it fired up😄 weird

did you plug in your USB on the right port? (2 in 1 eSATA + USB port). not any other USB ports. and also PLEASE ENSURE YOUR USB DRIVE IS "FAT32" format. (not NTFS or otherway round)

@@iamghostwitagun3800 my tutorial is meant for R3 system only. do aware that different system run different bios so if your system is R2, you cannot run R3's bio on R2 system, so you need to download R2's BIO separately but you can try again the same method.
Hello Jimmy, may you help me with they same problem with an Alienware Area 51m. Model: P38E001, Service Tag: 154CRV2. I change a configuration if the BIOS and at the same time I reset the laptop and it don't turn on the display. The laptop just turn on in black window.
i am sorry. , this topic is only for Alienware M17x R3. as i dont know how the bio 's screen look the same or different with your alienware area 51m. but hope i can help as i can feel the pain from ur end, can you remember what kind of config did you changed in bio for your alienware area 51m ? if you can remember how the bios look like. you should load default in bio setting, the trick is get into bios (blindly without seeing the screen, if u have friend or someone else's system as example) then use your keyboard 's ARROW key, TAB key and SPACE BAR to navigate to load default
Hi Jim. I have a hp omen laptop. While flashing the gpu bios, i messed up and make it black screen. Then I plugged it with a second screen and I get the 2nd screen on. While trying to reflash the original bios, I disable the 1660ti gpu. Now all the screens are black. Is there anyway I can fix this? At least reset all the setting so the 2nd screen can works again.
will this work on alienware 17 r1 sir, because lately i go to technician and said that my videocard is not working anymore and i could not believe it before it turn to blank dead only the backlight and fan kicks and single beep the card was still working.
I am not sure, technically it should be the same. do try and tell us, you can try to follow the instruction in the comment . (Except for the Bio file you need to get your own R1 Bio file. )

This procedure is meant to reset a bricked bios into a working bios. A bricked bios means your is screen black and nothing on the screen and can’t boot, it’s easy steps by steps. Many people I know fixed with this method, pause video every steps u do and continue each task is done, do not skip.try it.

@@jimmylim3789 Believe me I went over the video and the instructions in print very carefully. I bought this off Ebay and just discovered that there 2 pieces of ram underneath keyboard, I'm going to remove those tomorrow and see what happens, perhaps one of them is bad.
Did u change anything in BIOS and save changes and reboot prior to the black screen ? If yes - try the step from video from start If no - could be something else, try to check the troubleshoot from dell manual see if there’s any light indicator explain what is the problem
In the last month my alienware started to get overheat a lot and fps drops plus lag. GPU temperature was always on 90 celsius degrees so I've tried everything: updating drivers, reset wndows, gpu throttling tips and in the last updating the BIOS, but no one worked. So I brought it to a place for cleaning it plus thermal paste replacement. En fact after doing that, the temperature went straight to 60-70, they told me it's wasn't anything there almost.. No more fps drops or lag at all but after three days it couldn't power on. Black screen and just the alieware head enlightening: 2 red and 1 blue - 'CPU FAILURE' according to dell, so I brought it back and they told me probably the cpu or mb are 'burnt' and can't explain why Could you suggest me something ? (Warranty expired few months ago) I don't think its bios updating fault but who knows..I read about bios update of alienware could brick it, so what do you think If i try this steps? I remember installing the 1.10 bios update and I had 1.07 I guess..(alienware R4 15) Thanks
