Hey, I have a question - do you by any chance know of any classical music systems of any of the numerous cultures in Africa? (As in, a specific type of music that is studied, theorized about, and taught systematically.) As an European, I know a little about European Classical music, Turkish Classical music, and Indian classical music but know very little about any other classical music systems around the world, and would be very curious to know if one or more different classical music systems exist in Africa. Otherwise, might you be able to talk a bit about the music of your specific culture? I find it really fascinating to see the similarities and differences between the way different people make music all around the world. It is one of the most human of all the arts, and it never ceases to fascinate me how many different ways different people have found to express themselves through it.
