There’s some heavy pitch correction going on in this performance. She is singing live and absolutely incredibly though even with the live correction going on from the sound engineers

Patti still looks great, but she no longer sounds great. She can’t reliably sing her own hits very well anymore because her upper belts are no longer reliable, and her sound is built on her upper belts. She often relies on a falsetto to try to produce the notes in recent years, but unfortunately that part of her voice is either not well developed or just not very flexible due to age, so she often sings flat. Never heard this particular song before, but she seems to talk through it more than she sings.

@@direfranchementThis woman has been singing since the 1960s...it is 2023 and she is STILL captivating audiences. Patti has paid her dues and deserves her flowers. The music industry chews up and spits out many. Her longevity and work ethic should be respected. Anyone that is a fan of her is happy to see her doing well and in good health at almost 80. It is easy to sit back and find flaws in the empire that someone else has built. She has built hers. The question is, what empire are you building? That is the only thing that matters. Being happy for others brings blessings to you because a foundation of love is a strong one.

For those of you critiquing without credentials, Patti isn’t still selling out shows 60 years later because of her album sales or her vocals or comparisons to yesteryear. She’s selling out shows because she made her career touring & connecting with her audience. She could miss every single note & still get a standing ovation. It isn’t a concert for those of us who consider her the People’s Queen…it’s a family reunion.

All I can say is, for a woman who has been in the music industry and singing for 60+ years, to be able to preserve her voice and still deliver a song with such confidence at almost 80 years old proves that she has a God-given talent which she has been a good steward over. What the world calls "singers" today could never hold a candle to her or any of the other talents like her that we have known over the years.

When it first came out, I was working in long term care and watching the relationship between one of my Alzheimer's patients and her husband made me think of this song and cry for them. Ten years later and this song still makes me think of them and cry even though she has long passed. Music really is a message in a bottle. Thank you for this.
