Watching this video, just like on Little Blue Mahogany Session, it's like he's deciding on what chords might compliment things well *as he's in the middle of playing* and just produces them in the moment, and yes, they compliment it all perfectly. His voice or the guitar or whatever, seem to be mere extensions of his mind, let alone his body. He thinks it, and it just happens. Mesmerising.
I'm brazilian and a huge fan of Milton Nascimento and Jacob Collier. So, this beginning using the melody of "Ponta de Areia" is extraordinary for me. I hope the world recognise the importance that Milton Nascimento has in jazz and brazilian popular music. Nice job Jacob!!
Amen to that. One of my favourite Jacob quotes - there are many to choose from - was I think at the Grammy’s, something along the lines of “standing on the shoulders of giants”. It’s great to see even the best musicians never forgetting their teachers.
I lost my father 6 months ago. He was a remarkable guitar player and song writer. Last week my oldest child suggested we go see Jacob Collier live in Atlanta in a few weeks. I had never heard his music. We got the tickets. Now I’m listening, crying and thinking of how much my father would love this song in particular.
Jacob did not disappoint! He played this tune and the entire show was phenomenal. I will hopefully have the privilege to see another Jacob Collier live performance again. The musicianship of the band and the singers is unmatched. I was blown away. Thank you for a memory of a lifetime!
Cudos to the sound guy who captured the rich warmth of the Taylor and the treasure of Jacob's voice, thereby bringing us all into the immediacy of the moment.
Jacob, your voice sounds sweeter and stronger year after year. This is a delicious arrangement of your song and the delicate guitar work is the sprinkles on top. ❤
I have my favourites but Jacob has to be the one I most want to see perform live. He seems to be every great artist of the past and the hope of the future rolled into one. The timbre of his voice makes me imagine lazy days in a hammock swung between 2 palm trees on a distant shore. Jacob, please NEVER stop xxxxx

One of my all time favorite songs! the simplicity, the atmosphere, the finger picking, the camera movements, the voice, all effortlessly brilliant and beautiful.

My father used to sing Ponta de Areia since when I was in my mom's belly and it has been my lullaby song between my dad and I.
