I just bought mine about a month ago without ads for under $200 including tax. I upgraded from my 10 yo Fire HDX 7. My every day use is for reading ebooks and the web browser for Stardew valley wiki and Story of Seasons fogu. I hardly ever watch movies or tv. I love all the features on my new max 11! But (for me) I have found that I hate the size. It's twice as big and twice as heavy as my old 7". I didn't know when I bought it that this would bother me as much as it does. I can just throw my 7" in my bag and go. This one is not nearly as portable. For reference, I'm a 5'0" woman with fairly small hands.
I got mine on Prime Day with the keyboard and pen. It's a lot nicer than the HD 10 I had a few years ago. I like that it has Microsoft apps in the app store. I personally don't mind the YT app it comes with. I told myself try it 1 month w/o Google Play Store. The Amazon Appstore is getting better but I will probably end up putting Google on mine.

I brought one brand new for $105. My only criticism is that there's no GPU improvement from the 10 plus. The build quality is amazing.
