  • Derny is the brand name of a former French manufacturer of light motorcycles named Roger Derny. The company Roger Derny et Fils was created in Vichy in 1930 and closed in 1958. At that time, the company had tried to revive, positioning itself in other markets as its main niche bike coach bikes in producing an elegant semi-faired motorcycle named "Le Taon" (a nod to the Italian Vespa which means "wasp" in French) whose surprisingly modern design was due to the designer Roger Tallon, who became famous afterwards, especially for his studies on the TGV. Success will not be at the rendezvous. The 1960s saw the small used car eliminate the motorcycle market, until the 1970s and the wave of Japanese motorcycles, in a context of urban traffic jams, but the Taon last, by its rarity and its "look" original, will become a rather sought-after collector's item.
