  • Featuring the late "Singin'" Steve Sanders and Dewey Dorough on saxophone. Essentially, this song was a duet between Dewey and Steve, as Dewey also played on the album cut. Originally released in 1988 on their "Monongahela" album, this performance is from their 1992 PBS Special with Emmylou Harris.

STEVE SANDERS 💜 was one of the greatest singers in Nashville, I use to hang at quad studios whenever he was doing vocals. We wrote songs together. I miss him.

I will always remember how incredibly talented Steve Sanders was, he made it easy to sit front and center, and the amazing Oaks band of those years, including "The Sultan" on sax, Dewey Dorough, their shows always left you feeling completely entertained!

Great singer, the harmony was much different compared to what William Lee brought tho. Harmony much more powerful with William Lee blending on baritone.

To me, Curly, Moe, and Larry NEVER should've let the beautiful precious Steve walk out that door...I love him so much. His blood will always be on their hands as far as I'm concerned...no matter how hard they scrub.
God bless you and Steve's family always!!!
      Holly in East Tennessee
P.S. I've seen how long William Lee let his beard grow at one point and I can't help but wonder.....were there ever any times that it got caught in his zipper? (trying not to laugh)

Can't figure out why they didn't simply keep Steve and call it a quintet. Seems to me it might have been a bad call.

I was listenening to Steve when was "Little Steve Sanders" back in the 60's However, I was Greatly Sorrowful when I heard Steve Killed himself, This was before we got an understanding of Bi-Polar Disorder. But rest assured Friends, he is in Heaven, if as I believe he made that CRUCIAL spiritual Transaction w/GOD by ACCEPTING JESUS" When we ALL stand at "The Judgement Seat of Christ" See First Corinthians Ch. 3 V. 11-15

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but how do you know that Steve was bi-polar?
God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee (Age 35, so I'm pretty much a newer fan of his)
P.S. How do you know that everything that was done to him is not what drove him to his suicide?
