    • @eamonnharvey6385
      @eamonnharvey6385 7 лет назад +1

      Galway in the west is a beautiful spot! Next to the Burren and Connemara with plenty of music also. Cork and Kerry are also very much worth the trip. Ireland is a safe place for solo travelers in general...

      @K8RSTK 7 лет назад

      That's great...thanks for that! :) Googled each place you mentioned and they all look lovely but I'm thinking Galway. Would you say 2/3 days are enough to see the main attractions?

    • @eamonnharvey6385
      @eamonnharvey6385 7 лет назад +1

      Khateeja Joomun this time of year in Galway is great, we just had the Macnas parade today. 3 days gives you enough time if you use Galway city as a base and maybe do the cliffs of moher and the burren one day, the Aran islands another and I'd give the city a full day maybe on the weekend when the food, arts and crafts market is on and a walk out to salthill sure to 'kick the wall' :) hope you enjoy it if you make it over! Galway is well known for its music scene also, the streets are full of it during the day and pubs at night...

      Hey ya.I`m from Cork which is south and my best advise for anyone coming here is Galway and Kerry.2 lovely counties but overall Ireland is tiny so you could probably visit and stay in every county withing 3 weeks.

La prise en irlande a 3 pors alors que en island la prise a 2 pors. Les deux pays parle le meme englais, la température varie énormément mais il fais ni chaud ni froid .

    ahahhaa Ulster-Scots is not a real language - it's an accent or dialect.

    • @JorgenHartogs
      @JorgenHartogs 8 лет назад

      The United Kingdom declares, in accordance with Article 2, paragraph 1 of the Charter that it recognises that Scots and Ulster Scots meet the Charter's definition of a regional or minority language for the purposes of Part II of the Charter.

    • @kaymackgee
      @kaymackgee 8 лет назад +2

      AHAHAHHAAAA - Níl.

    • @JorgenHartogs
      @JorgenHartogs 8 лет назад

      actually yes. Under the Good Friday Agreement Ulster Scots and Irish have been recognised as minority languages in the United Kingdom. Though it has plenty of speakers in Donegal it has no status in the Republic of Ireland. With Irish being under serious threat of extinction and many of the different dialects already extinct it is beyond me why Irish people are so against the recognition of minority languages in the UK, and therefore part of the Island of Ireland. How many people still speak the Irish dialects of Antrim Irish, Down Irish or Rathlinn Island Irish? Níl indeed. Most schools in Belfast teach Ulster Irish, as in the Donegal dialect, but even in Donegal the different dialects are disappearing as a sort of standard Ulster Irish or School Irish is now being taught.This happens all around Ireland, even in the largest Gaeltacht of Connemara. School Irish has borrowed heavily from Connemara Irish, but hundreds of typical Connemara phrases and expressions have already died out. Irish is dying, just like Ulster Scots, and both languages need protection.

    • @kaymackgee
      @kaymackgee 8 лет назад +1

      ... I suppose the next thing will be the request to stay in the E.U in order to retain the cultural heritage of the Ulster Scots speakers...hahaha. How many Ulster Scots speakers are there? Antrim Irish, Down Irish or Rathlinn Island Irish - its still all one language different accents maybe, but its still Irish/Gaelige. It has its own declensions, variations throughout history, word and phrase formations and alphabet. What historical literature of Ulster Scots has there been? Ulster Scots is simply a variant of the english language imposed during a time that any other languages (including Irish/Gaeilge) had been outlawed (while they built the empire) to me this is a period that English was used as an anti-language - The english have enforced that the occupied countries use their language -it fed their agenda that these original languages died out. There is a culture behind the Irish language that is being preserved in many ways. Seems to me that Ulster Scots is just more fallout from the British Empire. But those days are now gone ... it is infact the empire that is much, much smaller (and getting smaller #Brexit)

      @irishlongswordboland3114 7 лет назад

      There is difference between a language being dead and extinct.A dead language is a language that is no longer used in everyday setting,but its still studied and read and maybe revived like hebrew.An extinct language is a language of which no trace remains or which has no native speakers to decifer it.Irish is not dying because its not strong enough to be called alive and maybe dead,but it certainly not extinct or in any danger.For that too happen the irish constitutions english version would be the only version and irish would lose its first official status and hence no longer taught in schools universities would never teach it irish medium schools would stop running TG4 and raidio na gaeltachta would close GAA(irelands biggest sports body) would stop using it.Yes dialects have and will go extinct,but that has been the case throughout the history of the irish language and every language.Ulster scots is only english with slightly different pronunciations and words not saying its not worth preserving just is not in the same league as irish.If irish goes it goes as a language,if ulster scots goes its one less english dialect among thousands and even if its not a dialect of english its a dialect of scots which is probably dialect as well
