What is the point of the key fob holder ?

if your battery in the key fob is dead (so that you can't remote unlock the car, and the car wont sense the fob when you approach and thus you can't just unlock the door by grabbing the handle) the holder is there set up so that your fob's internal chip will be in proximity to a NFC sensor in the holder (when you lay the fob in the holder) even if the fob battery is dead, so that you can still start the car, because otherwise if you are inside the car and your fob is dead the car wont know there is a fob and won't start up, and thus you will need the manual bypass with the fob holder
