When I first got this game, I would listen to the briefing while I did my homework to focus. Now, I just played it so I can pay my bills and update a few spreadsheets. *sigh*
I like this so much more than AC7's briefing theme. This feels like you're surrounded by tech, lights flashing everywhere, data moving around, holographic projections shifting as your CO briefs you and your team.
Here is the current sitrep and your orders for deployment, effective immediately. Enemy agents destroyed our early warning radar network, allowing several Bear bombers to penetrate our air space. In fifteen minutes, we expect this bomber formation to strike Allenfort Air Base, and then move on to targets at North Point. Our air defense forces are extremely weak at this point in time, hence our GHQ is a sitting duck. It is mission critical that you destroy the bombers and neutralize the threat before they get past Newfield Island. Remember, you are the first line of defense for North Point, and the fate of ISAF lies in your hands.
The artwork here suggests that the F-4 Phantom we flew in game was not an American one, but a British FG.1/F-4K akin to those that flew on HMS Ark Royal. The resemblance of the livery to the iconic Royal Navy paint scheme and the sheer length of the landing gear seems to point out towards that.
If it means anything more, North Point is the in game equivalent of the UK- and since the first mission takes place over NP, your theory holds up even stronger.

When CD players and old school MP3 players were still being used by the average joe. When CRT TV's were still common and the flatscreen was a luxary. sad guitar strumming I was just a child when the stars fell from the skies, but I remember how they built a canon to destroy them... and in turn how that cannon brought war upon us. War was an abstract idea, nothing more than a show on TV... As a child, I only saw it as something that happened in some far away land... Until that final day of summer... One day, while on my way to school, I looked up in the skies... A sound like distant thunder. In the blue skies far above me, contrails drew dizzying circles around in a crazy waltz... guitar music stops, overshadowed by the roar of engines and afterburners A battle in the beautiful skies far away... I could not tear my gaze away from them. A deafening roar... And then a sharp silhouette appeared, as if to graze the hills, and streaked past me. The fighters played the cat and the mouse in turn as they climbed swiftly into the sky, One fleeing plane fell out of the skies, Spiraling and spewing orange flames to crash by the cape... The same cape where my family lived... Now they only live in my memories of days past. The victor circled around to confirm the kill, sad music of defeat begins and on his craft there was a large number 13 - emblazoned in yellow. I will never forget this. The allies retreaded across the ocean, before the onslaught of the enemy. Our little town in the heart of the mainland, fell into deep isolation.

How my Ace Combat 4 movie briefing would go. Alright gentlemen, we don't have much time so I'll make it quick. The Offensive is hitting us hard, up until now it's been a stalemate, but they've pushed us into the coast. It's an air raid on North Point, men. Current sitrep doesn't look good, a group of first wave fast movers already took out most of our early warning radar and air defenses. Our only eyes belong to an AWACS, callsign Sky-Eye. He's reporting a second wave, Eurusian Bear Bombers likely going in to carpet bomb the GHQ. And in about 90 minutes, they're going to be all over our central air base. Gentlemen if they hit us here, we'll have lost the war before we even had a chance. You're have permission to intercept any fighters still harrassing our defenses, but the Bear Bombers are mission imperative. Dismissed! Go! Go! Go!
+LigerBans This is why I love AC 4. It had a professional 'atmosphere' The briefings had an overall 'This is your job, this is your mission, these are your targets, think about the ethics and stuff later.' quality while in combat your allies were focused on fighting rather than people like chopper in AC5 complaining about why war sucks. AC 4 was subtle and stuff in how it got across an anti war message, like the end of the Farbanti mission where you hear of a general's family mourning over his remains. Also the side story that was brilliant too. Sorry about the long comment, lol. I just love AC4 :P
+The LouseGrouse also, I like the simplicity of ac4. Later games (I'm looking at you Assult horizon) have longer, less fun missions. I can play ac4 an infinite amount of times.
