  • The Esnoga is a Portuguese synagogue in the heart of Amsterdam. It began as three distinct Spanish-Portuguese communities, but when they combined, and the Netherlands were at war with Spain, it became known simply as the Portuguese community. The word Esnoga comes from the Portuguese for synagogue. Learn more about the Esnoga in this episode of our Synagogue Series.
