Rest In Peace Harry Dean Stanton as Brett and John Hurt as Kane and Ian Holm as Ash and Yaphet Kotto as Parker and Helen Horton as the voice of mother and Bolaji Badejo as The Alien they will be forever rememberd as legends in Alien (1979) one of the greatest sci-fi horror movies ever created and directed by Ridley Scott as well amen:).
Aside form the bad language, I'm not really sure what they cut. I remember watching this in 1984 - I was 15 - and I recall it having all the scenes that it has in the uncut version (but not the scenes that were restored for the Director's Cut).
Although edited for television, tonight's thriller contains scenes of suspense and violence which may be unsuitable for young viewers. Parental discretion is advised.
This how we watched movies back in the day. Cable TV was new and only available in limited areas. Movies could take 4 to 5 years before premiering on network TV, or even HBO, if you were lucky to have cable TV. Life was so much simpler.
It didn't matter back then that a company didn't own the TV network and a movie studio. Each of the Big 3 networks had a revolving door of movies all fripom different studios. When networks do show movies these days, it has to be within the conglomerate. Or the network having paid a huge sum for broadcast rights.
Excellent narration in this intro. I remember that voice from back then.
Yay, you're back!
I didn't expect to see you here. :D
Yeah, I love the first two Alien movies :D
ABC needs to bring the Sunday Night Movie back. It was awesome!

This movie rocks! I wish horror movies today could be like this one.
Back in the early 1980s, almost all horror movies were like this one.
This movie always scares the crap outta me. I love it!
Because they edited for television
Those were the days!!! The Networks should bring back the "Movie Nights"....!
It would be a tough sell in an age where people can literally download almost anything they want in minutes.
Back when ABC was somewhat watchable! I love the Alien movies, the first two being my favorite!
Everybody always thinks “movie on broadcast TV…they’ll edit it…won’t be as scary…” Yeah, well this one still was… Kudos to ABC. 👍

Tonight...An ABC Premiere presentation! Six people running from an unknown terror! Nothing can prepare you for the horror of "ALIEN"!

Is it me or was the parental guidance disclaimer creepy on its own? LOL! Yes I fondly remember when alien first aired on ABC!
Six people? I guess he wasn’t including Ash.
Oops, 6 and the company guy. Spoilers!!!
