@@Brandon-bc1fz Nah, no way. But still, it was sneaking up on the deer like a predator would to get a closer look. So the deer instinctively backed away.
They are both so curious.
And the deer is unfazed by the camera holder. Fascinating.

@@jimholmes964 No animal can be evil. To be evil, you must have free will and be free from instinct. Cats have no concept of free will nor death. Cats, or any other creature other than humans don't have evil or good in their natures, only instincts and desires that need to be fulfilled. Good or evil never enters the picture. It's pure nature. They don't fight other animals because they are evil, they fight for natural reasons, such as fear of danger or territorial issues.

@@Latvijas_Amēlija Well, you don't know how wrong you are, do you? I own a ranch, along with a cattery and a dog kennel, in which I facilitate the breeding of Manx cats and Brittany dogs. I also feed deer on my property and have had many different kinds of birds. fish and other animals as pets and livestock. I know a lot about animals of all kinds, and their natures. Evil only exists where the concern for a soul is present. Animals by nature have no knowledge of a soul, and only have instinct to guide them. That is, I believe, how God planned this whole thing. At least, that is what it says in scripture.

I actually saw something very similar and was mesmerized as I watched their interactions. It was a special moment in time that was a gift from nature. It involved a mother deer, her baby doe and a cat on a regular street. They all interacted for a moment and then the mother took off with baby following and kitty ran to follow. It was very SWEET 😇
CAT: "SLOOOWLY I Toinedd...step by step, inch by inch..."
DEER: "OK, I'm outta here. I know not to mess with predators...even teensy little ones😂."
It hilarious to see that meow meow stare down this deer to try and dominate it like the meow really believes it is tougher then the deer 😂

The hesitancy of this young buck is primarily due to his poor daylight vision. He is using both his sense of smell and hearing to help identify whether there is any danger in the "motion" that he is able to observe [the definition and acuity during daylight is significantly reduced - the measurement is estimated to be about 20/100 so ... in essence, a deer's eyesight during the day might be about as acute as your half-blind should-be bespeckled grandpa].

In darkeness, however, a deer's vision is about 50 times sharper than a well-sighted human being. This is primarily because, unlike in we humans who have basically oval shaped pupils, deer have much larger vertically shaped pupils which allows much more light to enter their eyes - some of which a human being is not even aware is actually present.

Due to this visual acumen, a deer's hearing is exceptional and can detect sounds human beings can't detect at all. Plus, their ability to rotate their ears gives them an uncanny ability to isolate one specific sound from another, where exactly that sound is coming from, how fast or slow that sound is approaching [or departing], and even if the sound is a signal of threat.
We saw our cat touch noses with our resident doe twice, but they probably did it several more times as they were both outside in our yard on a daily basis (we lived out in the country). The doe also chased our dog one Spring day when she was in our yard with her brand new fawn. The dog stayed away from deer after that.
