I have been hoping above hope for many a long period of time that someone would be fantastic enough to upload this sketch. Thank you kindly, good sir/madame
All I can think of is the song from the audio version from one of the Horrible History books. "Joan of Arc, what a lark! She fought and she dressed just like a bloke! LIKE A BLOKE!"
Difference being, "heretic" almost literally means someone who makes up their own mind whereas witches were meant to be the lovers of the devil. That's a pretty big difference.
What the rat didn't tell you was later a Pope post-humorously sanctified her remains. (Even though they were lost.) (Also it was the Burgundians who captured her)
@JakobDailes Yep the Burgundians sold her to them. She also passed the inquisition and should have been liable for ransom (King Louie (the VIII i think) wanted to get her back) But she was burned as a witch anyway.
he learnt French at school but he would've most likely spoken Italian as his first language because ethnically that's what he was and his parents were Italian too
Actually, Wikipedia says Joan of Arc was captured by the Burgundians & sold to the English and they cite more than one source on that. ("The English government eventually purchased her from Duke Philip of Burgundy.") According to the same article ("Joan of Arc") her trial was engineered by the English, who compelled some French witnesses to testify. Granted, Wikipedia can be unreliable, but of course you can make changes & cite supporting sources for them. If they're well-founded they'll stay.
wasn't Joan's big battle plan just not attacking the archers at the end where the arrows were being shot at you, I love her story anyway it is just funny how many great battle there were plan that consisted of just moving out of the way of the thing that was going to kill you. I mean just look at the Romans and Hannibal's elephants
First of all I know a lot more about history than you could hope to know in a lifetime and trying to convince you of true facts is like telling a child there's no such thing as santa claus. Second, I'm dyslexic and while that disability does'nt effect my intelligence it does effect my ability to learn things as quickly as others can and it also makes me more forgetful and it takes time for things to register information as quickly as others can. So think first before you say anything.
I agree we don't know everything about Richard and Shakespeare could of bent the truth a bit to please Queen Liz 1st. As for Joan, she was captured by the English and given to the French. The English wern't at war with all of France. I agree with your last comment, the 100 years war should'nt of started and nor should any other war in history of started ethier.
That doesn't change the fact that when France bought Corsica one year after his birth, he became French and had to learn French. Opinions do not change historical fact.
@JakobDailes Her French name is Jeanne d'Arc, not Jehanne. Anyway, John is just made up for the sketch, so it's not important he has an English name, I think. Am I the only one who things that the guy who plays the angel just looks hilarious?
Wow, really? I wouldn't have noticed if you wouldn't have told me... I was just wondering if this sketch was inspired by the fact that some historians believe that Joan of Arc was actually a boy. I mean... she was a 14 year-old pesant woman who was given an entire army of French soldiers.. They could have made fun of how unreasonabe that was, but instead, they added a John of Arc... That just made me wonder where the idea came from ;)
Well, spelling wasn't conform in the middle ages so she might as well have written it like 'Jehanne' or 'Jehenne'. Also, more recently people started assuming she actually could read and came from a well-to-do family, not just peasants.
Sorry HH, but: Jeanne d'Arc or "Joan of Arc" was NEVER! "claimed to be a witch", that's a horrible, horrible mistake often made. She was claimed to be a heretic, what's totally different.
In the opinion of the French people of his time, he was not. Despite the political correctness you wish to give me. To which I say screw political correctness, I prefer historical accuracy. And history tells me the French people didn't consider him French, especially in the manner he spoke the French language, which sounded closer to Italian.

"Sorry John, Stay cool" Lol
One of my favorite sketches
"Well, it definitely said, I mean, I wrote it on my hand and everything..." How very effective.
I was in a university lecture today, Joan of Arc was mentioned and all I could think about was this XD
"pull ze ozer one!"
"no...seriously..."
A) I'm just an illiterate peasant
C) I'm a girl and
A) I'm 14
Genius
i love joan of arc. i did a report on her and her life is just amazing!!!!

The difference between this and the history channel Horrible history tells you when they make stuff up

Then you'd know about all of the horrible things he did. And if you've been reading a little history about Joan, you'd know she was killed by her own.
wasn't Joan's big battle plan just not attacking the archers at the end where the arrows were being shot at you, I love her story anyway it is just funny how many great battle there were plan that consisted of just moving out of the way of the thing that was going to kill you. Difference being, heretics get burnt at the stake, whereas witches, well they get burned at the stake.
@22poopoo Actually her original name was Jehanne, which is pronounced "jen", so i'm surprised her name in english isn't Jen or Jan.
naww poor John of ark :P
@Eniphesoj90 It's Jehanne. That's how she signed it.

"SADLY, SHE WAS CAPTURED" i say gladly!
Ah yes, you're information is correct and cannot be said otherwise, that bloke does not know what he's talking about.

Joan of Arc was actually burnt at the stake by the French (for crimes that included wearing trousers/dressing like a man), not the English

A, c, and a
Well, she did say she was illiterate. :)
@evilrobottolhurst Woah r u serious!? her birthday is on the 6th of January???
Well, spelling wasn't conform in the middle ages so she might as well have written it like 'Jehanne' or 'Jehenne'.
Also, more recently people started assuming she actually could read and came from a well-to-do family, not just peasants.
@Lilim27 I dunno
Oh, I guess they added a "John of Arc", because some people actually speculate that she was in fact a boy, right?
I do believe Joan was 17 at the time of her supposed vision. But ah well, she probably miscounted. ;) Good sketch, though!
also for heresy...
Its funny I have been studying her in class but that isn't really how she reacts
@TwlilightWolf serious dude. Here's a long speech by French President Sarkozy: v=LogZKAyL0Qs,. Don't know if it's "post-humorous" lol
@scatteredsands lol ownage! ;)
@DanMarik But the English are the ones who killed her.
Sorry HH, but: Jeanne d'Arc or "Joan of Arc" was NEVER! "claimed to be a witch", that's a horrible, horrible mistake often made. She was claimed to be a heretic, what's totally different.
I do believe I sense a Hetalian.

@MelVds1991 and yet i somehow feel far worse for you.
too bad that ability to kick-ass went with Napoleon. And the guy wasn't even French.
In the opinion of the French people of his time, he was not. Despite the political correctness you wish to give me. To which I say screw political correctness, I prefer historical accuracy. Gods fault
because she fought the British so i dont like her hehe :P
Read some real history books and you might learn something.
What is the point of this garbage?
