Interesting as usual, Mark. You say NFL, Mark, but this is probably most similar to what is happening in American college football. Id encourage you to take a peek at the last decade or 2 in that sport.
Mate it’s all sport these days unfortunately. Cricket and the IPL. NFL like you said. NBA playing offseason games in Dubai. That’s just capitalism and the reality of the world we’re currently in I’m afraid. Sickening stuff.
I dont think many people realise how this would work. Uefa condemned this concept so much back in 2021 but their new champions league format will be quite similair and now if the super league would accepted I think the clubs would earn more money and the state owned clubs would have less advantage over everyone.
@@Joewpubut u know no matter what UEFA won’t change they decide by themselves which is why clubs don’t like them because nothing is agreed on with the clubs participating. They make stuff that benefit themselves
Liverpool created a Supporters Board after the original ESL launch in 2021, meaning the fans on this board have the final say on whether Liverpool could join a new competition and I’m pretty sure we don’t want anything to do with this.
We don't even know if English clubs will be invited yet! Actually if the ESL organisers have gotten any smarter they should focus only on continental Europe clubs and possibly Scotland, English clubs have all the reasons to stay away from such a project.
This is quite shocking. I can only pray that clubs in England, and hopefully elsewhere, have taken on board that the fans have no interest whatsoever in a Super League. If it does happen then I think many of us will opt to support clubs in the Championship and below and attendances in the Super League will collapse to Saudi levels.
The Super League is a league for Spain and Italy. Because they are a failing league. The EPL is absolutely at a disadvantage. Because it is the most popular and competitive league. As a result, a Supe
@@user-xh8tw9su8f for a failing league we sure own the premier league in europe also only reason premier is relevant is due to billionaire investors and oil money take that out what becomes of the premier.
Cant help but think had UEFA not created a horrible uncompetitive, zero jeopardy mid-week parade….then this would never have surfaced. UEFA could have done so much more with European Competitions
This is why i’ve gradually been gearing myself to watch South American football. I already have the team as I am a Millonarios fan due to my city, but there is so much more passion and tradition which hasn’t been erased. European ball has me sick
I've been going more with rugby. It's a better game, the players are more respectful, you get proper tackles, the 'VAR' system actually works and money hasn't ruined the entire sport.
PL fans can't really complaining about this. They spend the most amount of money, compare to any other leagues combined. So maybe they think it's fair for them to finally compete financially with PL. Also it's wake up call to those corrupt UEFA/FIFA/FA and be humbled. If PL let's say has fallen off popularity, it's their own fault for "the best league itw" being run with "the worst and most corrupt official itw".
I love how goldbridge has gone from a comedy reactions channel to one of the loudest, clearest and most eloquent voices standing up for (what’s left) of the game we all love.
what is left? UAFE you mean? PL clubs having a unfair competitive advantage over other leagues, all the corruption from FIFA? Guys, do you really fail to realise that UAFE has monopoly over football, whilst also being the most corrupt sporting organisation in the world. My god...
I'm a Korean who lives in US who adores football, and we genuinely do not need another competition, especially when players are overwhelmed with number of matches anyway. One or two preseason matches are great fan service, but this is just degrading the quality of the domestic league and champions league.
I don't mind it, monopolies are bad. UEFA and FIFA are corrupt organisations that mostly benefit a small group of old rich guys, and not the clubs. Given the right format a new league could be a good thing.
What a surprise! English football club sides with an organisation that has set up its competitions to benefit English teams and even introduced new modes of qualifying for them.
So now that the prem isn't get the most "attention" it's wrong.I absolutely love this it means the prem can't just spend money on money to buy the best players and dominate europe. The only people that do not want this is the prem fans I think deap down the rest of europe are happy with this
People are so brainwashed by uefa it unbelievable 😂 they created super league when they kept changing it from champions only to top 4 now to top 5 now now you get in if you been competition before 😂😂😂
The only reason Madrid, Barca, and Juve want this is due to their inability to run a proper football club. If they were somewhat competent, they wouldn't be in such financial distress.
Literally the only thing the ruling said was that the UEFA mafia can't throw clubs out of the Champions League or fine them for expressing the clubs own legal right to explore other competitions. It is an issue of entrepreneurship freedom, not greed. How Mark thinks UEFA and FIFA having total monopoly control over football clubs could be beneficial is beyond comprehension.
UEFA needs to be humbled. Plus what would be the difference anyway. Just a change of name. Since "champions league" is having the same format next season
Look, I don't particularly like the idea of the Super League, certainly the current version of it that is being presented, but that is almost entirely due to my total ignorance of the actual agenda. Now, that said, and Mark I like most of your stuff, you know absolutely the same amount of f*ck all about this as I do! EVERYTHING you said was already said when the Premier League was proposed. It will end the football league. A few teams will get richer and the rest will go bankrupt. Total domination for the richest clubs. Blah, blah, blah. None of this happened, aside from the clubs that SPENT the most money (NOT necessarily the richest - How are Man Utd looking lately? Chelsea? Blackburn? Leeds?) As for "we need to rest players on Saturday because we have Barcelona in Sweden on Wednesday", seriously? Carabao cup quarter final, Salah, Konate, Díaz and Alexander-Arnold all on the bench. Why? Because Arsenal are coming up and they wanted to rest him. For a QUARTER FINAL against another Premier League club (another Premier League club who also rested a fair few first team players, because they have Man Utd at the weekend! Well, that's it then. The League Cup, by far the weakest competition in the English top flight, is dead...right?! People have said that for 30 or 40 years. There was even a campaign to kill it at one point, but there it is. Still raking in cash and still seeing B teams played by most Premier League clubs until at least the semi-finals. The FA Cup is the most prestigious club cup competition in the world, but watch as the top few rest players in the next round, regardless of their opponents. That will be dead soon too then, right?! There is a reality and it is simple. If fans don't want to see their team play Barcelona on a Wednesday, they don't have to. And yet we don't see any empty stadiums for those games, do we? I couldn't get a ticket for ANY of Arsenal's CL away games so far this year. Not even Sevilla and I live in Spain! The bottom line is this: Until we actually KNOW what the format will be, we are at the mercy of the press and their "knowledge". Lest we forget that this is the same press that helped to get Brexit done, and look where that got the UK?! It is the same press that told us the the EU would give us square tomatoes and straight bananas! Assume that they know NOTHING at this point and, instead of talking up a storm, why not get a fans association together and actually sit down with the powers that be and find out what they are actually proposing before we start with the histrionics?! Finally, the next incarnation of the Champions League has been confirmed. It is real and is happening and the similarities to what is most likely the Super League plan are not to be dismissed. What is anybody doing about that?! "Tut!" is about it!
Agreed. And the same fans will ultimately go along with it (and fork out >£100 on shirts every year, just as they already do) just as they eventually did with the Premier League... The fans need to know we were NEVER in control. We just fell in love with a business.
Fair point I mean that not hate. Here my counter argument I don't care what it is. I won't watch it you want to give it a fair enough your life. Football is over for me as soon as that comes in..if it comes in
You're not speaking on behalf of the true local fans though. You're speaking on behalf of the plastic armchair fans. The fans that go to their clubs stadiums every week whatever the weather - they are the most important. We don't want this super league because it isn't made for us. If you want a super league then go and make up other teams and create it that way but don't take OUR clubs away from us. This stinks yet again of elitist, greedy hypocrites.
So teams like aston villa, leverkusen, girona, etc won't be able to play top tier european competition because these teams weren't even in super league 2nd tier level till last year so promotion would not help
Be honest. There are so many games in the top leagues that nobody wants to watch. Even in the Premier League, there are matches that hardly attract any spectators. As a German viewer, I would hardly be interested in games like Crystal Palace v Brighton or Fulham v Burnley. In addition, FIFA is finally losing more power as a result of the ruling. A World Cup in Qatar because of the many deaths there was a scandal. Another World Cup should go to Saudi Arabia again. What coincidences there are.
This could be great for lower level teams, when it collapses and becomes a tourism industry the rest of the English teams will flourish because fans will actually start supporting their local again. If your team signs up for this you should stop supporting them, its anti football and anti fans so they don't deserve any
@@Kazumatempest they've proposed 3 leagues with promotion in and out of the different leagues but not the tournament itself, I doubt anyone below championship would qualify, therefore this could be good for small local teams. But the Premier league has come forward and said no club would consider joining
Don’t know why people are against this💀. It’s 💯 better than the new ucl format. Mark is just ranting cuz the glazers won’t leave. And him talking about money and change like he ain’t seen the new ucl format and it isn’t all about money.

I agree mark saying naive football wasn’t going to be this. But what they’re proposing. Doesn’t sound like progress. It sounds like regress. As a Tottenham fan I hope we never take part in this.
What do people expect Arsenal Liverpool Man U all did the same thing to create the Premier and make more money. Now it's the best league in the world. Super leagues just the same thing but on a bigger scale.
Hypocrites Prem as always.. SCARDY cats..Money is the only way they could Compete with LALIGA and Serie A so they are scared to see all leagues in line financially.. The CWC and the new Champions leagues are here to stay whether you like it or not, other TRUE authentic football leagues will become financially equipped and you'd be 3rd AGAIN! 😂
3:34 " this is globalisation of football - which is good, but it benefits nobody... " . Complete contradictory nonsense and, Yes, you really did say that!
Football's history and UEFA's pockets are two entirely different things. Right now UEFA are pocketing income from club competitions they didn't even create in the first place! How is that "history" to you?
Absolutely bang on, it’ll be the death of competitive football. I think if Premier league clubs decline to join, the Super league is almost certain to fail.
Hold on Mark, you have been a VERY public voice against UEFA and FIFA and the way they have run players into the ground and how they have greed and corruption influencing every decision they make. Sure, there is greed in the creation of the Super League but you'll find that in ANY commercial industry. WHAT'S GOOD HERE is that there will be less but higher quality games, there will be self-governance by the clubs, there will be greater profit distribution, AND it will be more entertaining! This ALSO gives some HISTORIC clubs who have suffered at the hands of UEFA a chance to once again grow into prominence. I'm surprised you have such a negative reaction to this.
As a Newcastle fan totally against it. Hopefully all Premier Clubs will now stand against it, including our owners as well as the Liverpool and Man U owners, as they have already seen the fans reaction🤞
I'm not pro Super League, but it's much easier for English fans to go against it. These last years it just feel like it's either this or the premier League will get so far ahead that it will basically be the same thing
With all the honesty, I think that we are in need of somthing to disrupt the field. Not sure if Super League is the best option, but I'm getting so tired of FA and UEFA being not transparent at all and arguebly corrupt. Maybe the pressure from another league could help make current leagues better (or it will ruin everything)...
This will actually be good. Cus local fans will start supporting non superleague teams and foreign fans will get superleague matches in their home city.
The German clubs are likely not to join as they are 51% owned by the fans
This was also confirmed by Karl Heinz Rummenigge. They were also not part of the first try because of 50+1.
Why would the fans want German clubs to play Champions League alone? 😂😂

Wait what if klop is leaving football because of this
I dont think many people realise how this would work. Uefa condemned this concept so much back in 2021 but their new champions league format will be quite similair and now if the super league would accepted I think the clubs would earn more money and the state owned clubs would have less advantage over everyone.
which is why BOTH need to be protested
@@Joewpubut u know no matter what UEFA won’t change they decide by themselves which is why clubs don’t like them because nothing is agreed on with the clubs participating. They make stuff that benefit themselves
Liverpool created a Supporters Board after the original ESL launch in 2021, meaning the fans on this board have the final say on whether Liverpool could join a new competition and I’m pretty sure we don’t want anything to do with this.
Money changes everything.
We don't even know if English clubs will be invited yet! Actually if the ESL organisers have gotten any smarter they should focus only on continental Europe clubs and possibly Scotland, English clubs have all the reasons to stay away from such a project.
We? I assume by we YOU are on this board🤔
We don't
@TP-pq9xx exactly and that's assuming they have any power in the first place. They could easily be paid to just be there for show
This is quite shocking.

It’s Stockholm syndrome- they have abused football for long enough
UEFA needs to be humbled. Plus what would be the difference anyway. Just a change of name. Since "champions league" is having the same format next season
Some people are pro super league because they are tired of the corrupt Prem league
Chelsea? Blackburn? Leeds?)
As for "we need to rest players on Saturday because we have Barcelona in Sweden on Wednesday", seriously?
Best comment so far
Agreed. And the same fans will ultimately go along with it (and fork out >£100 on shirts every year, just as they already do) just as they eventually did with the Premier League...
The fans need to know we were NEVER in control. We just fell in love with a business.
Fair point I mean that not hate. Here my counter argument
I don't care what it is.
How about we all start supporting United FC of Manchester instead?
So teams like aston villa, leverkusen, girona, etc won't be able to play top tier european competition because these teams weren't even in super league 2nd tier level till last year so promotion would not help
Best comment on here. People are missing the point that this is yet again another form of elitism that isn't fair.
The premier league has itself to blame
For getting ahead of other leagues? The european super league is a cowardly league
Man was really happy when ManU were being bought by a state and is now crying about power of money and monopoly
This could be great for lower level teams, when it collapses and becomes a tourism industry the rest of the English teams will flourish because fans will actually start supporting their local again.
If your team signs up for this you should stop supporting them, its anti football and anti fans so they don't deserve any
That’s exactly what I think
that’s actually a very good point
you do know anyone can join the super league even small teams and they can get promoted.
@@Kazumatempest they've proposed 3 leagues with promotion in and out of the different leagues but not the tournament itself, I doubt anyone below championship would qualify, therefore this could be good for small local teams.

Football's history and UEFA's pockets are two entirely different things. Right now UEFA are pocketing income from club competitions they didn't even create in the first place! How is that "history" to you?
Football has a rich history so let's let UEFA keep on making tons of money instead of giving it to the clubs.
Absolutely bang on, it’ll be the death of competitive football. I think if Premier league clubs decline to join, the Super league is almost certain to fail.

The moment the British started selling clubs to Americans and Arabs is when they sacrificed their power over the destiny of the Premier League.
Which historic clubs?
The only positive thing I can see about this is no more man cheaty in the premier league
