Oh Kira...If you think Twister as a kid was bad listen to this! My family also went to The Cape some summers. My story takes place when I was about 10.. We went to the drive -in. I wonder if it was the same one?! Only my mother didn't take me to see a story about bad weather. She took me to a double feature about a psychotic cross dressing murderer and mutant feathered cannibals. At age 10 my mother took me to see PSYCHO and The BIRDS. Double feature !!! It was circa 1961 and I only recently have been able to close my eyes in the shower!!! You had it easy kid!

❤Kira, you were Brave for going to see "Twister" and I'm proud of you for facing your Fear❤ As a Caregiver, we have to go through Disaster Preparedness Training and it truly has been helpful,it might help you to do that as well because there is a Peace in knowing what to expect and what to do! There are videos online that have really good Content and I think it will help to put your mind a bit more at ease. ❤Love you! Sweetie and Love the Family for their Support of you through this❤

Having lived through multiple tornadoes this is a good first step but the next best step is to know what to do if you get an alert for a tornado & prep with safety items that you'd need in the event of a natural disaster. After that all you can do is leave it in God's hands knowing you've done what you can and that's all you can do.

Im on your side, Kira! We have no tornadoes in my Canadian province (except in 03 during a hurricaine) so when one hit while I was living in southern Virginia, I was flat out terrified! It did NOT help at all when the news announcer went from calm and cool to HIDE NOW! In less than 15 minutes! I hid I the bathroom with the radio and 2 cats thinking - I'm from nova scotia and in a tornado. This is just wrong! 😂.

I saw this movie yesterday and thought it was awesome. Luckily here in Melbourne, Australia, we don’t see this kind of storm. Tornadoes create such devastation. Mother Nature at her angriest 🌪️🌪️🇦🇺.
I think everyone fears storms even a little. Is why we hucker down during storms. But I have another fear of storms I get migraines when the air pressure change. Hi Linda glad you got to meet this family. Love you all

Need to become a tornado chaser. I’m with you, I was petrified of the concept of a tornado (luckily in Australia they are rare mainly spouts or Willy Willy (more dust storms). But now I’m an avid arm chair chaser of tornadoes when watching reed timmer and Brandon copic and other chasers on RUclips. They are definitely destructive and terrifying but oddly beautiful at the same time. Now it’s on my bucket list.
They can happen in side New York. But we have had a lot this year in Iowa. But I still want to watch the movie.

I went to see "Twisters" Thursday and it was in a Dolby theater with reclining seats. Looks like you watched it at a drive-in. Hope the wind and rain stayed away. Lol

Sadly, tornadoes are happening in more and more areas that they never used to occur. The best thing is to have a plan in place if you’re ever really faced with a possibility of a tornado hitting near you. I live in Texas and there’s been several tornadoes hit near us and the most recent was just recently and one went just over our house but didn’t touch down. We heard it though.
I was 6 when a Tornado happened not far from my house. I still remember that day whenever there's thunderstorms. I still know what Tornado Clouds look like. It's definitely something to respect but it also is something really cool to watch from a distance.

Kira, I'm scared of tornadoes too, as well as really bad thunderstorms. I had a few bad experiences with thunderstorms as a young girl, which has left bad memories for me. I think it's more about the fear of the unknown with tornadoes. Logically, I know I can't control Mother Nature. It's an emotional/psychological issue for me. I put together a disaster survival kit. This has helped me. Keep trying to conquer your fear.

That looked like a fun family tradition. Sadly, there are very few drive-in theaters anymore. When we were little Mom would put use in our PJs and play shoes. We'd go to the playground with the other kids in them PJs. My sisters would always fall asleep. Since I've always been a night person I watched everything.
I'm surprised you still have the speakers. Last time we went to the drive thru sound came out of a certain station on your car radio. Cameraman getting your butt stuck made my day. Lol Poor Kira. I've made it through twisters in the Midwest. As long as you don't chase them you will be good.
A tornado touched down about 10 feet from our house when I was around 5. I was scared of storms and tornadoes for a while. Until my dad started helping me work through my fear. I’m over my fear of tornadoes now. I just don’t like loosing our power now LOL.
Wow, your drive in still has speakers? People would forget and just drive off with the speaker. So now we just tune to a radio station in the car to hear the movie.😂😊

I have been terrified of tornadoes for the past thirty years after having seen the devastation firsthand. It was considered to be a relatively small tornado with one death. To this day I feel terror when thunderstorms hit. If there is hail, I get hysterical because I can’t stop the fear. Watching movies with tornadoes don’t bother me. I think it’s because I know it’s a movie and not real life.
Hey Kira, we’re from Alberta Canada, and now live in British Columbia Alberta. It does get a number of tornadoes. We had one that touched down where we lived in Edmonton Alberta in the late 80s, but it’s pretty common in the countryside in British Columbia because it’s mostly mountains. It’s not common or I’ve never we’ve never had one here anyways, I can understand your fear watching you guys and hope you guys have a wonderful fall and a great year❤

Kira I used to be terrified of tornados. The siren for our area would go off at the fire station 3 houses down from us. Down to the basement we went. Got older, decided like yourself I'm done being scared. Got a major in geography lol. Watch radar maps on weather chanel. Just so you know tornados can't go through hills or water. There is only one huge umm mount here. Funny thing is it's part of the name of our city? Town? Who knows. It changes when college is here.
