  • Here are the things you should know if you love a highly sensitive person! Because loving highly sensitive people is not an average experience. HSP’s need to be loved differently than others. There are many things you have to take into consideration when in a relationship with someone of this nature.
Understanding highly sensitive people will help you communicate with them more effectively, and strengthen your bond as well. These people are so highly attuned with their nervous system, that they feel emotions in a very real and complex way. They love differently than others do, putting their heart and soul into every gesture, word, and action… And this can take a little getting used to.
Loving a highly sensitive and empathic person means they will call you out on your feelings and thoughts. You won't be able to keep secrets from them. They can sense things going on deep beneath the surface, and they don’t like to play games. On the downside of being sensitive lies the inability to get over things easily. If you break up with an HSP, you will likely experience more drama than with others.
While loving such a person might be complicated, they hold some wonderful characteristics that will make having them in your life a truly unique experience.

Sweetheart, we are unique individuals as HSP's. Value it, always, but also be Aware of how much easier it can be to get hurt. Try to be strong and do things that HELP you feel stronger. Be around people who Appreciate you for you. Msg me back sometime. I feel the same way as you. It's wonderful to have a name to what we are. Yes, we love hard. But we are really intuitive to people around us. ALWAYS have your own hobbies! Whether it's enjoying any of your favorite music, or knitting, or being around children, teaching, helping others. Knowing your strengths and loves will usually always help you. Know who you are. Always believe that what you like and enjoy Is important. I wish I could meet more people like me in person....Hope you are okay! Write a long never-ending list of all things you enjoy. From the smallest tiny things to the big things. You will forget sometimes to take care of You. But you Must. And it's OKAY! Want to go get some ice cream or frozen yogurt with a friend? Do it. Do you want to create something fantastic and keep thinking about it? Do it. If you don't already have a precious pet--get one. They do wonders for people too. Just don't ever feel selfish for things you truly enjoy. I like being "soft." But yes, it can be hard as well when we care so much....Do what you love to do--even all the small things. Write that list. Find your goals--And Own Them. Xoxo

Being an HSP myself, I can never understand how something that means nothing to someone, could mean the world to me? We hate asking for favours but love doing them even at the cost of exhausting ourselves. Somehow we feel obligated to love but get extremely uncomfortable and anxious when loved in turn. HSPs never reveal what hurt them because they do not want their loved ones to feel apologetic or bad about themselves. We're a bunch of caregivers but hate being taken care of. Most accurate video ever❤️

These are very true. Some things I'd like to add are intuition. I can almost always sense that something is about to happen with the person I'm having a relationship with. His tone, vocabulary, mood. All give it away to me that something is not quite right. I'd also like to add a sense of super appreciation when any attention is given. By any attention I mean just that. Small gestures tend to mean the world to me because I feel like "WOW he was thinking of me and only me when he did that." It takes very like sometimes to make me happy. And I truly appreciate the little things in life not the material stuff. Hmmm a dozen roses or lets spend the night together watching TV and cuddling. KEEP THE ROSES LOL

Because they hurt me deeply, even If I loved them so much before.

Something I learned in drama school is that we remember because we care. And in that context it makes perfectly sense. We care about people, tend to (over-)analyze and think about the exact meaning (subtext) behind the words someone said. That's why we remember conversations quite accurately.

My girlfriend is highly sensitive. I've made her cried many times. Those days I hadn't known about her mental uniqueness. I blamed her for nothing. I pressurised her many times. She begged me to not to hurt her. I thought that she's just acting. One day she cried shivering over my harsh text messages. At that time I realized there is something wrong with her. At that very day cold night I traveled so far to a mountain village to surprised her with a flower bouquet and other presents. my innocent angel with her wide eyes rush to me and just forgave me in a second. I realized how lucky I am to have such a sensitive girl. Since then I promised myself to kind to her and understand her and not to hurt her. We have to learn how to dealing with sensitive persons. As an Empath or HSP I've learned to pick and choose my battles. We know when someone is being dishonest or lying to us. We know when we're being manipulated or taken advantage of. This type of situation usually led me to call that individual out, or end the conversation quickly and promptly excuse myself from that person. Now it depends on what my relationship is with the person in question. If it's an acquaintance and there's no hurtful intention towards others I let it go. More times than not the dishonesty takes more energy to address than I'm willing to give. When it's a family member it has variables. I look at how they're behaving. Are they defensive, scared, angry, confused, insecure,.etc? Will their dishonesty hurt myself and/or others? If I address the issue is it really worth the negative energy to myself, the people around me, and the environment for the next few hours or days? Will it have a positive outcome if addressed? I basically internalize whether the person and situation is worth the confrontation that'll affect us both. As I gain more understanding about my abilities, the boundaries I've set are becoming stronger. I now take into account that my personal well being is much more important and precious. It isn't always my place, or responsibility to counsel another person about their ethics and dishonest behavior. As an Empath there are times when positive mental health and self-preservation far outweigh confronting the negative or deceitful behavior of another. We can't help those who choose not to help themselves. It's a frustrating predicament for us. We want to help everyone. Finding a good balance is key. Our abilities to guide and heal are a blessing. It's our purpose for being here. 💖

One thing it took me about 60 years to figure out is that we are extremely good listeners, totally empathetic, and make the best friends to others. People flock to us because of these qualities. But what I wasn’t understanding is that I was being lied to often, attracting the “users” in my friendships, and was there for others as free therapy. It took several years to wise up, but I finally dumped all of the users out of my life. It feels exhilarating! I am extremely careful to look for the warning signs now as I look for new friends. If they don’t ask questions about me and seem like they have no interest in my life, I won’t give them a second glance.

Woow! Being a HSP myself, I know this is such an accurate and precise video. 16) They are very high on their Morals and values and don't compromise on them. They do open up when they can't withstand things anymore, amid at such points they often blast, and this emotional outburst could lead to them opening up in rather blunt or rude ways!!!! For which again they feel guilty and bash themselves up!
Not being able to forget even after forgiving, not forgetting the exact details of what went wrong, remembering with accuracy, not able to let go off the past easily, mood swings and all the other things mentioned are things I hope others find useful to understand people like us! People around us misunderstand us so much, infact accusing us for being so sensitive; saying things like 'you just don't want to get over it' , 'you just can't forget anything bad,' and there's allot of insensitive criticism for even things like taking care of others and going way above and beyond! I have always been criticised by my family saying' Why do you have to do soo much for everybody!' or oooohhh you and your perfection! Or how much will you cry over it!!!!
I hope this video helps people to understand that HSP's are not trying to be NICE or fake, they do so genuinely and sincerely. They feel things deeply and are very empathetic. Infact they get the brunt for being HSP'S coz people feel they are too good to be true. As per research in psychology done 1988 onwards on HSP'S, studies show that they are turned down by society because they are so good, by labelling as Do-gooders! And are called antisocial because others look bad around them as they are too good and so the large majority turns them down.
I found this video very validating and empowering. Thanks

You know, I just recently had to come to terms with these traits, because I’ve been shamed for it. If I get angry, or feel hurt, i can’t help but cry. I don’t want to, and I know I’m not that upset to really be crying, but it’s an automatic response. When I’m fighting it’s worse because they think I’m just crying to win the argument through guilt or something. Like I’m trying not to murder or hurt you right now, and your calling me a cry baby.... not the smartest move here. I had to come to terms that this is just how I am. For good and bad.

I have always cried a lot, sometimes even when I'm mad and not just sad. I have learned later, for me, that the tears are literally the bad energy leaving my body. So, I don't try and hold them back. Instead, I try to get to private place as soon as possible and allow the tears to flow for as long as they want to.
I cry tears of joy also, especially when I feel gratitude.
I figured out the "bad energy leaving my body" because the tears I cry from the painful or negative emotions burn my eyes. My eyes will hurt after crying and usually hurt up until I go to bed that night and sleep it off. The tears of joy do not burn my eyes. I think this is very interesting! I'd be curious to know if others feel this same experience. My son cried a lot as a child and through most of grade school, when his feelings were hurt, so this shows that males can also do this. (Someone mentioned they wondered if males and females are different).

This video is beyond amazing! It’s so accurate in describing the personality of a highly sensitive person. I am typical example of an HSP extrovert (ticked 24 out of 25 boxes in the test).
Thank you for making this video :)))

I am here because of one of my BEST Friends...while watching, I would cry during the listings...wipe my tears, then the next listing would come up...and i would start crying again
its 1/2020 and I could have shared this with so many when I was maybe in my teens?... unfortunately, in this generation and time, I recognize alot of desensitized people, and they usually say I am "too sensitive"...I never respond, because I dont want to hurt their feelings
...im not fragile or jaded...but I do know during my time in this Life.....it takes more strength to be patient and tactful than relinquish caprice emotions
and to Top it all, I also have (ASMR) lol...im (49) but im Thankful to realize that ive been this way since I realized who I am...and the best part is...
    Its NOT a weakness
    thank U for this Empowerment🙏🏾💜💜💜

Very on point! Still we can get tools to manage some of this. I’ve evolved in many of this points and I used to hate to be called too sensitive but understanding my nature made me love myself more and use it for my own advantage. I love that I can pick up vibes cause they are clues for me to know what am I dealing with so we can usually pay attention to it and be ahead in whatever situation we’re facing.

I've always been emotional but was never really able to figure out why I knew someone was upset. Not til a few years ago. I always thought it was just bc of my diagnoses, but after watching this, and many more video's, I'm starting to learn that I'm not crazy, I'm not weird, I'm normal but different. Many on here will get it, but most people will never understand what it's like to learn that what you are, who you are, how you are, is all normal, and they'll never understand what a relief it is to know that it's not just you! You're not the only person out there who has a hard time with certain things that most other people just get over. I'm not a drama queen, I'm not manipulating people, I'm not a horrible person, I'm just me; and I'm finally starting to accept me, and love me, for me.
