I have been putting off upgrading my projects because they both use lots of tile map functionality, but this makes it look a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be. Thanks for pulling the curtain back on this process
Btw to set the same property on multiple similar nodes (like z-index or y-sort on TileMapLayers) you can use ctrl+click (and/or shift+click) on nodes to edit them at the same time. This could be helpful for people who have a lot of layers.
Just upgraded my big 4.2 project to 4.3 doing this, including a plugin I made which automatically generates the tilemaps... it was a bit of a task, but not too bad in the end, and now I can use all 4.3 features so, worth....
honestly, it makes life so much easier in my project, not only because I don't have to keep putting the layer numbers in all the functions, but the fact that I can have separate tilesets for each tilelayer and I don't accidently put the wrong tile on the layer because of separate tilesets.
@@JackieCodes definitely, and I was desperate for those navigation changes in 4.3, my chunked navigation able to cut out segments instantly now, and able to actually use the agent radius with chunks! amazing.
It's open source, and in the case of many of these big changes many of it is volunteer work so you can't really expect volunteers to provide system level changes in addition to educational resources.

IMO, Godot team should provide better guidance on the official level, when they make such a significant change
