We've heard great feedback about our fifth challenge to "read outside of your house"! We're always learning about better tailoring our challenges and we're thankful for everyone who was kind and messaged. Here's our update encouraging everyone to go crazy with this challenge in order to do it in a safe way! www.thereadingrush.com/post/an-update-to-our-reading-outside-of-your-house-reading-challenge
Thank you for adapting this and explaining ways it can be adapted! As a disabled reader who can rarely leave the house it feels like we can be forgotten a lot so thank you for the adaptation ☺️
Awesome thank you!! While I live on an island where we have no Covid, it is the middle of winter here and not very conducive to reading outside! I think I'll go with listening to outdoor sounds 🤣
That’s great! I’m so excited! This will be my first reading rush! I will try to post my TBR soon! So is the goal to read the one book (that meets the challenge) per day in that week? I have a book picked out for each challenge. But I can’t quite understand if we are supposed to read each in one separate day? Or just throughout the whole week?
I love that one cause it's like...okay so every book a read? Lmao (and I'm from Europe but I manage to literally ONLY read from north america. But I chose one set in africa to spice shit up)
Color of your birthstone?? Genius. amazing. showstopping. spectacular. I love the positivity of these video intros every year. Can't wait for the rush!
This is something I'm thinking of doing as well! I just bought a bunch of fiction books by Black authors and am on the hunt for more. If you make a TBR please post it! I'd be super curious to see what books you've selected!!
I love this idea! I didn't do it myself (already made my TBR and video) but this is something I will consider for future readathons! I did try to make the reads diverse as I always strive to do.
N332 Unfortunately I have not read many, but here are a couple that I like: The Messenger- Markus Zusak (apart from the Book Thief, I’m pretty sure all of his books are set in Australia) Crow Country- Kate Constable (if you’re looking for a book that deals with Racism in Australia, this book has a foreword from an indigenous elder that supports the the book, but if you believe that indigenous voices in books should always be own voices, steer clear) The authors above are Australian as well :) I also recommend Kate Forsyth if you want an Australian Author that does historical fiction :)
just like the other comment you could do holo/foil or just plain white since all wavelengths of visible light is white light and when you look through clear you can see whatever color...if that makes sense haha
Another idea for the "first book you touch" challenge!: Ok so what I thought it meant at first is that you read the first book you "accidentally" touch as you're living your day-to-day life. Like, not even thinking about your tbr, the first book you touch (from whatever circumstance that may arise) after watching this video, you have to read it
I got my list :) here it is: My birthstone-Aquamarine I chose mockingjay (it’s kinda aqaumarinish lol) A book that starts with The-The hunger games First book I touched- Catching Fire haha I literally touched it And then last but not least I have the my last book that will cover 4 challenges- Howls moving castle. The animated film was inspired from the book. Part of it takes place in Wales, so that’s another challenge. The genre I want to read more of is classics so that’ll count for that. And I’ll be reading it outside . Happy reading everyone :)
Wow, then Howl's Moving Castle counts as three challenges for me too! I was planning on reading it anyway! (I'll choose other books so I can choose between books)
Also, I know of one book not on that goodreads list. The short story collection “Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman” by Haruki Murakami (❤️) features a story called “The Ice Man” that’s partially set on the South Pole
I can think of at least three books set at least partially in Antarctica off the top of my head, but they're all weird 19th/early 20th century polar exploration scifi. (Poe's The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym, Jules Verne's An Antarctic Mystery, and HP Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness). Plus a lot of non-fiction about the same topic. XD
I have won Reading Rush 2/3 years I've participated. I will be doing it again :) In solidarity, with everyone who cannot leave their house, I will be reading a book near an open window.
I think it would be really cool to add a bonus challenge in honor of the Black Lives Matter movement. Maybe "read a book that educates you about black history, mass incarceration of African Americans, black feminism," anything anti racist. (I would include novels written by black authors/including black characters, but sometimes I feel uneasy about people adding them since those novels aren't meant to educate the reader. They're novels, they're meant to be analyzed for their literary purpose, characters, etc. But exposure to black experience is positive in any case!) Anyways, I hope that a bonus challenge would get people more involved in the movement since we all need a push to actually sit down and dive into those anti racist reading lists we've all seen. Adding them to a TBR is one thing, it's another to crack one open and absorb the information.
i was sitting here thinking to myself “a book inspired by a movie i’ve already seen”???? and then i remembered i’ve seen clueless which is based on emma and just thanked my brain for that connection
One of the best parts of these challenges is how you adapt them! How are you interpreting "the first book you touch"?? If you're in lockdown, will you listen to an audiobook while on your daily walk or sit in front of a window for the outdoors one? We can't wait to hear your takes on all of these!
I think there might be a typo in the movie challenge in the description - it says «that inspired by» which makes little sense. I have a feeling the «by» should not be there.
For "first book you touch" I had my husband pick 4 titles he wanted me to read from my unread pile and lay them out in front of me while I had my eyes closed. Then I put my hand out, touched one, and added it to my TBR!
They dropped that challenge last year, I think they explained why in the challenges video. (As I remember it, they wanted less pressure, and I am grateful 😛)
I'm so excited for this, I've been waiting to go in this for a whole year, because I was a bit late to the party last year. First Reading Rush! I'll upload a TBR video soon!
for those looking for books outside of North America, I would recommend: "The joys of motherhood" (from Nigeria, and also starts with "the") and "Daytripper" (from Brazil, graphic novel)
If i'm reading in spanish, for the second challenge can i pick a book that starts with "The" BUT in spanish? LIke, can i pick a book that starts by "el" or "la"?
THEM: read a book with a cover that matches the color of your birthstone ME: *searches what is the prominent color of opal* GOOGLE BE LIKE: *Opal, October birthstone is multicolored* ME: _So, I guess I'll pick any color I want huh_
Also why are your readathon challenges not diverse? Nothing about reading a book by a black author, yet all your 7 challenges are So BASIC besides the 1st one, which is the only unique challenge. You have a challenge that says "read a book that starts with the word THE" are you kidding?!?!? You can put that in and not a book with a Black protagonist or written by a Black author, especially at this time?
For my june babies, pearl is seen as the birthstone alternative since Alexandrite is incredibly rare. Alexandrite has 2-3 different colours depending on lighting; they range from pink, to purple, to even green in daylight.
I’m born in June, so my birthstones are pearl and alexandrite, alexandrite changes colour depending on light so I basically have 3 colour options...nice! 😅
I accidentally found one book that fits all the challenges and I could not be more excited lol. I'm also going to join in on the book club read and read others that don't fit challenges but the fact that I found such a unicorn makes me 😍
i'm so excited! i was just wondering you could change the "go outside" challenge, because the pandemic is still going. not everyone has option to go in the yard or balcony, and for the people at risk, probably don't want to go to the park or the library. and not everyone has a car they can read in! this challenge makes it hard for some people to participate, and to make reading rush available to everyone, it would be nice if you could change it.
I am SO EXCITED! I've been in a reading slump pretty much since the start of 2020, this is the perfect way to get me reading again. I was honeslty so surprised to see this in my feed, it doesn't feel like it's been a whole year since the last Reading Rush.
My plan for the "first book you touch" challenge is to go to a bookstore (wearing a mask of course) and usually there are so many books I pick off the shelves and tables because the title sounds good or it has a pretty cover but then when I read the synopsis I find that I'm not actually intersted and put it back. This time whichever book i pick up first is the first book I touched and that will be my read for the challenge. (Also of course we're not supposed to touch all the stuff in stores because of the pandemic and that way I will actually only touch the one thing I'm also gonna buy.)
This would of course also work in a library or if you can't go to either a bookstore or the library you could scroll through an online catalogue of books (shop, library app, etc) and the first book you click on to read more information would count as the first you touch.
My provisional TBR Birthstone & to read outside & other continent - Flowers for Algernon Movie * 'the' - The wizard of Oz Genre to read more -Fantasy- ASOIF no 5 Touch - Ivanhoe I'm also doing Shakespeare 2020 challenge so I expect to only get half way thru the bigger books
Omg I hardly record videos so this is huge for me but I will try my very best ^.^ Thx for putting so much effort into this! It's my first reading rush and I am already so excited I can't explain!!! Oh dear I love Ariels dances and expressions during the explanations 😄😄😄 PS: Birthstone colour is an amazing idea!
Can’t wait! I’m going to read Catching Fire and Mockingjay at least because I just finished The Hunger Games for the first time and those books would be pretty fast to go through!
TBR: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Three Dark Crowns, and The 100: Rebellion! My birthstone was diamond so...I went with white. 😅 Can’t wait to visit 6 feet apart from my best friend and read on one of our porches! 😍
Omg I'm so excited!!!!!!!! My first ever Reading Rush! I just created a bookstagram and this will be PERFECT tu upload more content!! Thank you, girls. Love from Mexico!!!
This is my TBR for the reading rush (which I will be making a video on soon!): 1. Read a book with the color of your birth stone on the cover - 1984 by George Orwell 2. Read a book that starts with the word “The” - The Girls by Emma Cline 3. Read a book to inspire a movie that you’ve already seen - To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han 4. Read the first book you touch - To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Hana 5. Read a book completely outside your house - I’ll decide when the challenge starts, possibly an audiobook! 6. Read a book from a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of - The Girls by Emma Cline (wanna get into more Thrillers) 7. Read a book that takes place in another contentaient than you live - 1984 by George Orwell So overall I will be getting to 4 books! I’m so excited for this! (Edit: this TBR may or may not change by the time I film my video 😂)
For the birthstone one, mine is sapphire and I kind of want to reread The fate of the Tearling which has a good cover with a giant blue sapphire stone in the centre (well it looks like a sapphire so I’m going with it....)
Greetings from Central America!!! #guatemalteca 🇬🇹 Question: My garden is outside my house, right? 😅 Because of COVID we can't leave our houses from 6pm to 5am 🙈 Basically when I'm in my house sleeping or returning from work (and I work 5 minutes walk distance from my house 🚶♀️)
I haven’t read it yet so I can’t speak to whether it’s good, but Jane, Unlimited by Kristin Cashore is a super shimmery iridescent colour. It might work?
I'm already doing a 6 week reading challenge reading a different genre I don't usually read each week and The Reading Rush falls on my Horror week, which is definitely the one I'm most scared of so perfect for number 6!
I've been following the reading rush/booktube-a-thon since it first started but I have always been working crazy hours or studying at the time. This is the first year I can participate properly and I am so EXCITED!
My TBR: 1/ Read a book with a cover that matches the colour of your birth stone. My birthstone is diamond so white. For that, I'm reading "How We Get Free: Black Feminism and the Combahee River Collective" by Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor 2/ Read a book that starts with the word “The”. I'm reading "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry 3/ Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen. I will be reading "Bird Box" by Josh Malerman 4/ Read the first book you touch. I'm apparently reading "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" by Arthur Conan Doyle. I wasn't expecting that nor do I feel like I'm in the mood for it to be honest but that's what I touched so it's what I'm going for. 5/ Read a book completely outside of your house. I might have to skip that one, but if I do manage to not skip it I'll read "A Monster Calls" by Patrick Ness 6/ Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of. I've always wanted to read more Arabic classics so I'll read " Morning and Evening Talk" by Naguib Mahfouz. I'll be reading the Arabic version of course, but that's the title in English if anyone's interested in checking it out. 7/ Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live. I'll read "A Gentleman in Moscow" by Amor Towles for this challenge. Good luck everyone!
Do people have recommendations for books set in Asia or Africa? I'm from Europe so I could technically read a book set in America, but I think it's fun to explore something new :D.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's _Half of a Yellow Sun_ is set during the civil war in Biafra (a breakaway part of Nigeria), _Things Fall Apart_ by Chinua Achebe is set in Nigeria, the books of Amos Tutuola are set in Nigeria (his most famous is _The Palm-Wine Drinkard_ ), The Cairo Trilogy by Naguib Mahfouz ( _Palace Walk_ , _Palace of Desire_ , and _Sugar Street_ ) are set in Egypt, and he also has many novels set in ancient Egypt (of which I've read _Akhenaten: Dweller in Truth_ prior to seeing Philip Glass' opera _Akhnaten_ at the Long Beach Opera), Paul Bowles wrote several books set in Morocco, of which the most famous is _The Sheltering Sky_ ( _The Spider's House_ and _Let it Come Down_ are two more), Lawrence Durrell's The Alexandria Quartet ( _Justine_ , _Balthazar_ , _Mountolive_ , and _Cleo_ ) is set in the titular city in Egypt, etc.
I'm loving the striped shirt coordination! Hoping participating in this can work out this year for me! Also, in case anyone doesn't know, there are multiple months that have more than one birthstone. Ex. June: alexandrite, pearl, and moonstone.
I think challenge 5 is completely inappropriate. Most countries that are not mad like USA still have circulation restrictions. I am and WILL NOT be outside my house. I leave only for work and i can't read there, I have no yard or balcony or access to any "outside". You are basically telling people to go outside in a pandemic :/
We're Canadian! :) Like we mention in the video, we only encourage people doing this in a safe way or by altering it to fit their situation! But thanks for your feedback - we understand if you don't want to be a part of the Reading Rush!
I am really looking forward to participating in this challenge for the first time! My friend and I are hoping the English weather will be good enough that we can go for a social distance read in the park for Challenge Number 5! Providing the guidelines are that we can still meet in parks with up to 6 people adhering to the social distancing guidelines of course!
Hi girls! Loved the chalenges. Im from Brazil and this is the second year Im participating. These are my 4 books TBR: 1/ Read a book with a cover that matches the colour of your birth stone. = Emma, Jane Austen - This was a funy one, I found out that my birthstone is Alexandite a stone that changes its colour, it goes from olive to magenta, so I look over my library and this book stands out, is exactly those 2 colours! 2/ Read a book that starts with the word “The”. + 3/ Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen. = The tourist, Olen Steinhauer - Combinig 2 Chalenges here, Ive watched this movie a long time ago. 4/ Read the first book you touch. + 6/ Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of. = Anne Frank’s diaries - So happy this 2 combined, when I watched the chalenges I knew I wanted to read Non fiction so when I closed my and reached to a random book (my goal was to choose the first non-read book I picked) and this was the first book I touched, I was thrilled. 5/ Read a book completely outside of your house. + 7/ Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live. = Stay with me, Ayobami Adebayo - None of them are set in my continent but I wanted to go different on this one, so I chose Africa, and is a short book to read outside the house (is pretty cold). I’ll read it on my yard.
My daughter @ajdoesitall is doing your challenge! It’s so awesome that you are inspiring people to read/read more! The challenges are so fun, I’m going to try a couple of them myself.
I AM SO EXCITED!! For once I will be picking my entire TBR from books I already own but have not read yet. I hope I can find some short books to keep my motivation up!
We've heard great feedback about our fifth challenge to "read outside of your house"! @@fionamckean9523 Hey, Fiona!
So is the goal to read the one book (that meets the challenge) per day in that week? the "read a book set on a different continent" is really easy because live in Australia so I can pick nearly ANY BOOK :) hahah
Same i'm in Asia. Most books are just set in N America or Europe :p
So true 😂
Same, I basically never read books set in Australia! 🤣
Same, I live in Africa so that one is great and easy
I love that one cause it's like...okay so every book a read? Lmao (and I'm from Europe but I manage to literally ONLY read from north america. But I chose one set in africa to spice shit up)

Haha I love it! Give it a little scroll up and down a couple times and tap one! I may do the same!
@@snazzym00se I think I'm going to do this with my Goodreads tbr!

Color of your birthstone?? Genius. amazing. showstopping. spectacular.
I love the positivity of these video intros every year. Can't wait for the rush!
I think I’m going to add an extra challenge for myself and read all books my Black authors. So many great challenges this year!
This is something I'm thinking of doing as well! I just bought a bunch of fiction books by Black authors and am on the hunt for more. If you make a TBR please post it! I'd be super curious to see what books you've selected!!

I can't wait to plan my tbr (and then change it about 50 times before the readathon starts lol), so excited for this!!

🙋🏽♀️Me too🤣
You: people usually read books set in their continent
Every non american ya Reader ever: ?????
It was funny lnao
As a European, I think challenge 7 is going to be easy :D
Yuppp… when filming my tbr I was like: got that one coverrrred
I just found a book that does all the prompts. And it is under 300 pages this is going to be a lovely reading rush for me
IMPRESSIVE!
Wait whaaaat. So this is gonna be EASY for you! After the reading rush, pls tell us what it is lol
I would too know what book you are reading.
But was it the first book you touched...? 👀
what book?
Any other Australians feeling smug at the “read a book set outside your continent” one? 🙈😂
I’m also cackling at all of the Americans 😂
i don't even know books set in Australia!! lemme know if any exist and i'll read one out of solidarity during this challenge lol
Bookish Rhi I’m just sitting here like “I do this reading challenge with every book I read” 😂😂
N332 let me have a think and get back to you!
N332 Unfortunately I have not read many, but here are a couple that I like:

edit: did the tbr and I am proud of the workaround 😂ruclips.net/video/q0EggHQnT_U/видео.html
You could do holographic or foil!
i'll probably just do silver
just like the other comment you could do holo/foil or just plain white since all wavelengths of visible light is white light and when you look through clear you can see whatever color...if that makes sense haha
I just did white. It's the closet thing I guess
Saaaaaame, but we have some time to think a way around this:))))
i'm literally already making spreadsheet of book options for each challenge. imagine if i weren't actually obsessed 😂
Spreadsheets are amazing, enjoy! Also...you might have inspired me to do the same 😛
Love it 😂
lol me I have so many options for each one (also nice pfp)
Raeleen would approve 😂
I changed mine as follows: Read a book with “outside” scenes in it
Another idea for the "first book you touch" challenge!: Ok so what I thought it meant at first is that you read the first book you "accidentally" touch as you're living your day-to-day life. Like, not even thinking about your tbr, the first book you touch (from whatever circumstance that may arise) after watching this video, you have to read it
That's how I took it at first too! And that's how I'm going to to do it. It sounds fun :)
Me too, I thought it meant that! So that's how I'm doing it too 😁
for me, im making that challenge an audiobook!! my phone is the first thing I touch in the morning, and that's where all my audiobooks are lol.
This makes me so hyper aware and nervous hahahha
I got my list :) here it is:
My birthstone-Aquamarine I chose mockingjay (it’s kinda aqaumarinish lol)

I got a job across the street from B&N so when I get my paycheck, I’m just going to go there and close my eyes in the poetry section and touch one.
I thought i might do that same kinda thing!
AMAZING! Please wear a mask!!!
This is such a fun idea!!!
Now, bizarrely, I want to read a book set in Antarctica. LOL
YES!!! there has to be one somewhere right?
Here’s a list of 35 books set in Antarctica: www.goodreads.com/list/show/18181.Books_Set_in_Antarctica

hollyrowsaboat i would also like to thank your brain for that connection!
I'm thinking of that too
I DROPPED EVERYTHING TO WATCH THIS 😍😍
One of the best parts of these challenges is how you adapt them! How are you interpreting "the first book you touch"?? If you're in lockdown, will you listen to an audiobook while on your daily walk or sit in front of a window for the outdoors one? We can't wait to hear your takes on all of these!
So for number 3, a movie to book adaptation would work as well, yes? Or only book to movie that you’ve already seen?
I think there might be a typo in the movie challenge in the description - it says «that inspired by» which makes little sense. I have a feeling the «by» should not be there.
Number 3 that what my plan anyway
I think I’m going to read Alien. It was a movie first and then it was novelized.
First book I touch after I watched this video
For "first book you touch" I had my husband pick 4 titles he wanted me to read from my unread pile and lay them out in front of me while I had my eyes closed. Then I put my hand out, touched one, and added it to my TBR!
Normally one of the challenges is “read 7 books”. This is interesting indeed!! I can’t wait to set my TBR list!!

HomeWithMyBookshelf honestly, not mad :)
I’ve been so excited for this, I dropped everything for this, haven’t even finished, but it still excites me so much
I work in a bookshop, so I'm going to leave it to chance for the first book that I touch! Hopefully it's a book that I'll like! 😆
for the outdoors one im going to probably sit on my window, watch the kids playing without any masks on and cry for my entire nation

For my june babies, pearl is seen as the birthstone alternative since Alexandrite is incredibly rare. Alexandrite has 2-3 different colours depending on lighting; they range from pink, to purple, to even green in daylight.
Yay! These challenges look super fun! I’m excited to make my tbr video! 💜💙
I’m born in June, so my birthstones are pearl and alexandrite, alexandrite changes colour depending on light so I basically have 3 colour options...nice! 😅
I googled alexandrite to figure out the colors and it literally listed seven colors . . . This should be easy.
First reading rush! I'm so excited!
The Reading Rush is kind of a big deal. I know people who take the entire week off from work, vacation days to commit to this challenge! I love it.
This is my first reading rush! Super excited for this
I am SO EXCITED!
My provisional TBR
Birthstone & to read outside & other continent - Flowers for Algernon
Movie * 'the' - The wizard of Oz
Genre to read more -Fantasy- ASOIF no 5
Touch - Ivanhoe
I'm also doing Shakespeare 2020 challenge so I expect to only get half way thru the bigger books
Aaaaa I look forward to this video all year I'm so excited. The challenges seem great, I'm excited to figure out my tbr
Plus, I need one of those mugs for my collection!!
Every Narnia book except for Prince Capsian works for "THe"
Omg I hardly record videos so this is huge for me but I will try my very best ^.^
Thx for putting so much effort into this! It's my first reading rush and I am already so excited I can't explain!!!
Oh dear I love Ariels dances and expressions during the explanations 😄😄😄
PS: Birthstone colour is an amazing idea!
I yeeted myself off my bed to watch this video and write down the challenges.
Can’t wait! I’m going to read Catching Fire and Mockingjay at least because I just finished The Hunger Games for the first time and those books would be pretty fast to go through!
I’m so excited!!!!! This is the first Reading Rush I will participate in since I have my Booktube channel and I can’t wait!!! 🖤📚
I recently started listening to the podcast and seeing the chemistry of you two on video is AMAZING! Both of you are so charismatic 😊
TBR: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Three Dark Crowns, and The 100: Rebellion!
My birthstone was diamond so...I went with white. 😅 Can’t wait to visit 6 feet apart from my best friend and read on one of our porches! 😍
The speed at which I clicked on this video was not of this earth😂 SO EXCITED!!!
joining in for the first time this year! hoping to read 3-5 books, wish me luck! 👍🏻
Just a comment of appreciation that you make everything international, as a German participant it makes me really happy😊
hahaha 5:10 , sending love as a middle-eastern reader!! this is going to be soooo easy, almost every book on my shelf is set in north America :)
The book I’m currently reading fits 3 of the prompts already. I CAN DO THIS
Omg I'm so excited!!!!!!!!
My first ever Reading Rush!
I just created a bookstagram and this will be PERFECT tu upload more content!!
Thank you, girls.
Love from Mexico!!!
This is my TBR for the reading rush (which I will be making a video on soon!):
1. Read a book with the color of your birth stone on the cover - 1984 by George Orwell
2. Read a book that starts with the word “The” - The Girls by Emma Cline
3. Read a book to inspire a movie that you’ve already seen - To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
4. Read the first book you touch - To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Hana
5. Read a book completely outside your house - I’ll decide when the challenge starts, possibly an audiobook!
6. Read a book from a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of - The Girls by Emma Cline (wanna get into more Thrillers)
7. Read a book that takes place in another contentaient than you live - 1984 by George Orwell
So overall I will be getting to 4 books! I’m so excited for this!
(Edit: this TBR may or may not change by the time I film my video 😂)
So im so excited!!! I watched Mockingjay but never read it! Great excuse to pick it up!!!
For the birthstone one, mine is sapphire and I kind of want to reread The fate of the Tearling which has a good cover with a giant blue sapphire stone in the centre (well it looks like a sapphire so I’m going with it....)
I actually think it's specifically stated in the book that it's a sapphire hehe good call hehe
Also starts with “The” :)
Yaaaaaay! I've been eagerly awaiting this :D The reading challenge announcement is always so exciting!
I finally posted my TBR for this, I am so excited, bring on July 20th 😊
It’s like 2am and I’m planning my TBR 😂😂 work in 6 hours? It’s okay 🤦🏻♀️😂
My birthstone is opal... so is that like... rainbow 😂
GOOD LUCK
Mine is diamond. So clear. I think I’m gonna get a bag and read a book inside the bag. Idk, we can figure it out
Ellie Jordan You could read a book that’s shiny? Closest to clear you can get!
becklepanda that’s a good idea, I’ll do that then
I haven’t read it yet so I can’t speak to whether it’s good, but Jane, Unlimited by Kristin Cashore is a super shimmery iridescent colour.
I already have books picked out to read so I can’t wait to mix and match them with the challenges! 🤩
Omg I want to do this... going to have to throw together a tbr quick!
I’m so happy that the reading rush is during summer holidays. Gives me so much more time! :)
Does the balcony count as outside of the house? I barely sit there so that would also be a challenge.
My TBR:
1/ Read a book with a cover that matches the colour of your birth stone.
My birthstone is diamond so white. For that, I'm reading "How We Get Free: Black Feminism and the Combahee River Collective" by Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor
2/ Read a book that starts with the word “The”.
I'm reading "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
3/ Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen.
I will be reading "Bird Box" by Josh Malerman
4/ Read the first book you touch.
I might have to skip that one, but if I do manage to not skip it I'll read "A Monster Calls" by Patrick Ness
6/ Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
I've always wanted to read more Arabic classics so I'll read "
Morning and Evening Talk" by Naguib Mahfouz. I'll be reading the Arabic version of course, but that's the title in English if anyone's interested in checking it out.
7/ Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.
I'll read "A Gentleman in Moscow"
by Amor Towles for this challenge.
Good luck everyone!
Do people have recommendations for books set in Asia or Africa? I'm from Europe so I could technically read a book set in America, but I think it's fun to explore something new :D.
Tons! I would also recommend watching Reads With Cindy as she just finished the Asian readathon.
@@JLynnEchelon Thanks! I'm gonna check it out :D
Thank you so much! I’m gonna check those out :D
I did it! Found one book that covers all of the reading challenges.
These are my 4 books TBR:
1/ Read a book with a cover that matches the colour of your birth stone.
I'm excited about this, it will be my first year participating in the Reading Rush. I just shared my TBR video!
YESSS I've been waiting for the prompts to drop! Cannot wait to film the TBR tomorrow. Another year of crazyness coming up! Xxx
My daughter @ajdoesitall is doing your challenge! It’s so awesome that you are inspiring people to read/read more! The challenges are so fun, I’m going to try a couple of them myself.
Spectacular challenges.
so excited!!!! couldn't participate last year so super excited this year! love the challenges!
I CANT BELIEVE YOU BROUGHT BACK THE READ A BOOK OUTSIDE CHALLENGE! 🤣🤣🤣 💕
I AM SO EXCITED!! For once I will be picking my entire TBR from books I already own but have not read yet. I hope I can find some short books to keep my motivation up!
Awesome, my balcony will love challenge 5. It's technically not IN my house, soooo.... (:
I literally forgot about everything when I saw this!! I'm gonna edit in my tbr when I make it
Need someone who looks at me the way Ariel looks at Raeleen 😍
