Choosing a favorite album from tori is impossible for me. She has been my favorite for 30 years and it seems like each album has been just what my life needed at that moment. Would love to see you react to "A Sorta Fairytale" with the video. It is one of her mainstream songs but lyrically, instrumentality, and vocally it is a masterpiece. Keep em coming.
This song was inspired by Anastasia, the youngest daughter of the last Russian Czar Nicholas II, and she was executed with the other family members in 1918. Some women claimed to actually be Anastasia, most famously Anna Anderson. Later DNA evidence proved that she was not Anastasia. The album Under the Pink was my first Tori album. I particularly like the strings; later Tori would have a band and that was great as well but the strings make many songs on this album special to me.

Every time you got excited I thought "he hasn't heard anything yet" all the way to the end where you probaly thought maybe she was done then her vocals crescendo'd at "we'll seeeeeee..." 🤘
Yay! I'm just 3 minutes in, but I want to say that I think you might be an HSP (highly sensitive person). We're about 20% of all humans, with equal distribution across males & females. I have been doing a bunch of learning about this - I took the test and said yes to all 27 markers. It basically means you process everything more intensely than non-HSPs. We need lots of alone time to process, can't tolerate loud noises or bright lights, don't like watching horror movies, are very skilled in noticing details, very empathetic, and are very moved by art. You fit that last one to a tee.

I started coping with loud noises (mostly crowds of clapping people at work gatherings) a few years ago with Downbeats earbuds. I thought I might be on the autism spectrum, but this makes a lot more sense. Elaine Aron is the name of the person who discovered the phenomenon and wrote a book about it in 1996. They've confirmed it with MRI scans.
So, to answer your Questions: What do I think of this song: It's incredible. It soars, it creeps, and it has such a whirlwind of emotional twists ant turns. My first times hearing it, I was less impressed, but.. The first time I saw Tori Live, this was the second song she played (though only the second half), and it became one of my favorites. What do I think of this album: I think this is my 2nd Favorite Tori album.. #1 is Boys for Pele. My favorite album (Between LE and UtP): I think UtP takes a slight lead for me over LE.. even though I LOVE LE. My favorite Song from UtP: Yes, Anistasia. lol Glad you are enjoying discovering Tori!
