    As a sammie parent myself, I TOTALLY AGREE with everything you said. Mine also isn’t treat motivated and has a hunter instinct that overrides all training.

    I would like to point out a common mistake I found out in dog rescue for this breed.
    When you bathe these dogs, you have to be very careful to remove all soap. If your dog develops a hot spot a week or two after a bath, it's most likely you left soap behind. You can find out by putting a little water and rubbing the hot spot, if it soaps up, it's soap.
    My routine was to dump them in the bathtub, completely soap them up, completely wash them off, drain the tub, and rinse them off again paying special attention to the armpits, and under the tail. If you leave the TINIEST amount of soap, they will get the hot spot fungal infection.

    I found how to get him back when I unleash my Samoyed and he starts running away:
    I run in the opposite direction, clapping my hands and calling him. Then he turns around and chases me, thereby coming back to me.

    Oh my gosh thank you for this awesome video! Your baby sounds just like our and I could not stop laughing. Our sammy is just as stubborn and loves to bark. Only dog in the neighborhood that just stops during a walk and tries to PULL ME back home. That’s because he knows he gets a biscuit at the end. 🤨 I too wish we got a personal trainer for him because he was the ‘difficult child’ in puppy class. Just LOVE this video! Thank you!

    Thanks for this video and I can totally relate with what you shared. I have a 2 year old samoyed named Coco. He is neutered and this made such a huge difference in managing his reactions towards other dogs. My only challenge is he is not very good with staying alone for long periods of time. I‘d love to know how you trained Felix to stay in hotels or by himself for few hours!

    I love your vids!! Sammys are amazing dogs. I called my Laika my Harley biker chick lol. If you haven't, you can try a pebble can or squeaker toy to get their attention to bring them back to you. If my Sam ran i would shake a pop can with gravel in it and the diff nose broke her focus. Then when she looked at me I would use a squeaky toy to bring her back. Idk if it would work but worth a try. 😊

    My Samoyed ran away from me when she broke loose from the leash. I ran after her and then threw a rock away from us. I looked at the rock, and then I looked at her as if I was worried she was going to eat the rock because it was such “delicious food “that I want for myself only. We both ran to the rock & that’s when I got her. 😈

    Setting boundaries is very important. Decide which areas of the house he is restricted to, whether or what furniture he can be on, and how he behaves with you and others, with things like jumping. Trying to change a dogs behaviour when they are older can be difficult and also upsetting for the dog if he is told he cannot go into the bedrooms any more, or sleep on the sofa.

    If they pull and won’t heel, don’t use a prong collar, just get a thinner chain collar. They have so much muscle up front they hardly feel a thick chain collar. But start early gradually training them to heel using reward treats & praise while on leash with chain collar for corrections only, not for yanking.

    Our samoyeds have been well trained from birth. They are in shows so they have to adhere to the "rules". They do bark a lot. When we tried the squirt bottle, one of my females thought it was a game.

    i have a 6 years old husky and he also pulls and I got the perfect advice ... don't use a retractable leash and use a 2 meters leash ...they need space ....now he doesn't pull and if I use a smaller leash...he starts to pull.

    I have one of those dogs and they’re very intelligent animal you can train them just like a train mine to walk beside me without pulling and also we’re not to bark and went to bar. You could train the dogs to do that using water to put fear in him that’s not too good my ex-wife used to use a broom, and I didn’t know that and when I came back came back from South Korea and when I find out that what she was doing I push the broom down and start walking towards him and show him that I’m a friend not an enemy so spraying water on him and the restaurant is not

    Danke für dieses tolle Video. Eure vermeintlichen Fehler sind typisch für nordische Hunde bzw. Urhunde. Samoyeden sind Urhunde und euer Vortrag entspricht exakt dem Verhalten meines Samoyeden, der als Straßenhund in Nordmazedonien aufgegriffen wurde. Mit den meisten eurer Tips gehe ich überein. Die Idee mit dem Wasserspritzen habe ich schon bei meinen Shiba Inus, ebenfalls Urhunde erfolgreich eingesetzt. Die genannten Verhaltensweisen kann ich unterschreiben. Mit was ich nicht konform gehe bei Urhunden ist die Fütterungsempfehlung. Für euch Vielreisende mag das ganz sinnvoll sein. Allerdings haben diese Hunde ein natürliches Sättigungs- und Hungergefühl, anders als andere Familienhunde und Rassen. Insofern sollten sie auch selbst entscheiden wann und wieviel sie fressen wollen. Wenn man nicht der Dosenöffner seiner Hunde sein möchte und es nicht unbedingt erforderlich ist, sollte man diesen Hunden die gleiche Möglichkeit geben wie sich selbst, dann essen wenn man Hunger hat und nicht wenn man dazu gezwungen wird. Bei meinen Shibas und meinem Samoyeden klappt das wunderbar. Sie sind dadurch weder zu dick noch zu dünn. Wie das bei kastrierten nordischen Hunden ist kann ich nicht sagen.

    • @Krasavica210
      @Krasavica210 Год назад +1

      Uns wurde gesagt, dass unser oder Samojeden generell nich wissen, wann sie satt sind bzw. sich überfressen und dadurch zunehmen können. Möchte keine Diskussion erzeugen, nur fragen, ob Ihr Statement zu der Fütterung generell alle (nordische) Hunde betrifft oder nur manche? Also ist es pauschal oder individuell? LG

    • @olympiakollias6181
      @olympiakollias6181 Год назад +1

      @@Krasavica210 Hallo, auch ich möchte keine große Diskussion auslösen. Fütterung von Tieren ist überwiegend eine Ideologie der Halter. Sie entspricht häufig der eigenen Lebenseinstellung, den Lebensumständen und was für jeden Einzelnen am besten ist. Jedoch kann man generell sagen, dass gesunde Urhunde bzw. nordische Hunde noch ein Sättigungsgefühl haben. Das wird meistens auch "Anfängerhaltern" von Züchtern mitgeteilt. Unsere ersten Hunde waren Shiba Inus. Uns wurde das gesagt und wir haben viel von ihnen über diese Rassen gelernt. Unser Strassensamoyede aus Nordmazedonien musste sicher um sein Futter kämpfen. Entsprechend hat er sich sofort über das Futter gestürzt, egal ob Trocken- oder Nassfutter. Ich habe dann vor seinen Augen nachgefüllt. Obwohl meine ShibaLady davon frass und er das Futter in de Nähe "bewachte", ob es wieder verschwindet, ist es nie versiegt. Nach etwa 2 Wochen hatte er Vertrauen gefunden und frass nur noch soviel und wann er wollte. Das waren dann nur noch normale kleinere Portionen. Das gleiche passierte mit Nassfutter. Der Hund ist etwa 3 Jahre alt. Wie es bei älteren Hunden ablaufen würde, die ihr Leben lang nichts anderes kennen, als dass ihnen das Futter weggenommen wird, wenn sie nicht fressen wann sie zu fressen haben weiss ich nicht.

    I have a Samoyed so I understand everything you have mentioned. When meeting other dogs ( males in your case ) never let them meet face to face. Have one male sniff the bum of the other then vice versa. Robert Cabral who is a top trainer explains this in this video ruclips.net/video/s0ruWzV_gR8/видео.html

    We used e-collar for leash and off leash training. It helped big time. We use the vibrate mode often and seldom use the shock mode in case of emergency. We were able to train one of our huskies to just relax when off leash and be obedient when on leash. But using e-collar is not for everyone. It requires discipline from the owner so that your dogs won't get hurt badly.

    I think this is super interesting, I will say why not talk to a trainer about using and E collar or a prong collar or another tool to teach him better loose leash walking? Also if he doesn"t have a reliable callback idk if he should be allowed to run around freely lol that sounds like a recipe for disaster

      also dog parks are known to make dogs reactive due to the fact that they can copy bad behaved dogs or that people will let their untrained dogs come up to yours and start reactivity early on
