    I don't have a 7 or 8 string guitar but still watching the video. This channel is so informative, I can always apply something to my setup

    Great vid man, love my 8 string too. You might be the first person I've seen really go technically deep with 8.

    You mean of confidence and power?

    Going from 6 to 7 strings was a huge change, best thing I had done with playing in decades. Getting an 8 string filled a void, more capabilities and baritone like excursions. Never realized how bored I had became with six strings. Also jazz voicings can be thrown into a metal context on 8 strings if you think you have Abasi capable licks to back them up.

    The old Line 6 Uber Metal is great digital metal pedal for Meshuggah tones ... and even Fredrik uses the small Spider in his studio .

    Hey it's good to see you posting again! Hope you're doing well man. Also, that's a cool ass guitar. I've got a Caparison Brocken FX-WM8 that I really like, even though I do wish it was 28" instead of 27" and that the bridge pickup was closer to the bridge.

    haha i also bought my first 8 string (first gituar come to think of it) about the time Obzen just released. wathing you play is phenominal, makes me wish i stayed more consistent in my gituar practice but picking up the slack nowadays. Practicing daily:D

    I’ve really been learning a lot of songs in standard tuning lately, because 1) somehow my 8 string is my only guitar I keep in standard tuning and 2) skipping over the bottom two strings really helps me learn my way around the 8 string fret board.

    I have tons of 7 strings, that's pretty much all I play now, but I'm looking at getting an 8. I really want to cover the opening/main theme to Final Fantasy, and it needs an 8 string to be properly played.

    Also, if you want to hear a band that has a really cool and very different take on 8 string guitars, check out Rickshaw Billy's Burger Patrol. Their album Doom Wop is cool as hell.

    this is a little off topic , but ive been able to 100 percent accurately recreate the fortin meshuggah amp in the axe fx xl+ by layering the fryette deliverance with the Splawn od2-3 and a eq pedal dialed in like the 33 from your previous videos.. the vht supplies the midrange and high end as well as a crap ton of articulation , and the splawn is dialed in to add the low end thump and a little bit of texture. i saw videos of mike making the amps while using a deliverance 4x12 and so i got the impulses for that as well , and it is 100 percent accurate to the tone in mikes video of the meshuggah amp. i thought someone like you could appreciate this tid bit

      The Fortin Meshuggah circuit is nearly identical to a Cameron Atomica. Just use thr Atomica High model (or even a Friedman BE) and you're 95% there.

    • @teamskdm1
      @teamskdm1 2 месяца назад

      @@PlagueScytheStudios tried every Marshall styled circuit in the axe and this method is far more accurate than any stand alone amp in the axe. The friedmans didn’t work at all and didn’t have the ultra stiff low end like the fryette has and the splawn then adds that Marshall flare that the fryette is missing on its own. Granted I don’t own a meshuggah amp but I own the nameless plugin as a frame of reference to A/B back and forth and now my fractal sounds closer to the real thing than even the plugin

    you use devin's 7 string open c with an f1 for the 8th? i'm not a djent guy but i'm a little confused why you would want an f1 if the 7th string is a g1

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  Месяц назад

      No, what I was trying to describe is using Devins 7 string tuning one whole step down but adding the high F string. So it comes out to F Bb F Bb F Bb D F

      @@PlagueScytheStudios ah thanks man, it was tripping me up because he recorded deconstruction with a 7 a half step down from his usual tuning. actually i play his 7 string open c tuning and i've been thinking about moving down to a 6 and getting rid of the high e string so this is a good video for a different perspective

    Nothing demonstrates personal preference (and likely a technique difference) quite like hearing that your lowest string of 8 is what I run on my 6 strings for B and A. 😂
