If you look at the fixed fence on your miter saw, there are holes for mounting a temporary fence board with screws, instead of using the double-sided tape, that introduces some stickiness that takes time to clean.

Where I learned we usually used speedclamps, but we also only cut small pieces on the mitre saw so nothing interfered. The tape is a good way to get around that I reckon

Radial arm saws are 'old' themselves, no matter the maker. Delta, Craftsman, etc made them in the day but they're not as popular since all the hundreds of sliding, compound miter saws, and table saws out now. They are better at doing many things tho. I think the safety police may have been a part of their lack of production nowadays. 🤔🤷‍♂️⚠️🚫🤚

Lot of miter saws have holes in the aluminum fence you can screw a temporary fence to. As well couple squeeze clamps works to. If your making super tiny cut say less than 3/4 an inch you can take a scrap piece of wood like a 1×2 or 2×2 and set it against the fence then make your cut for the super small piece. As well scrap plywood or 1×4 makes nice shims for plunge cuts and notching on the miter saw. Between the work piece and fencing. I'm an exterior door builder and I have to do all sorts of crazy things with my miter saw for the custom doors I build for customers.
