It is the drivers who makes I-45 dangerous. Speeding, texting while driving, last minute change of lanes to make an exit and the list goes on. The drivers who are reckless and impatient are the dangerous ones. The highway doesn't move at all. It sits while everything else is moving. So the problems are those who are reckless and careless on the highway. Period. I've had close calls of have serious accidents due to some idiots driving too fast or reckless for no apparent reasons. I won't have to use I-45 much longer cause I'm changing job location closer to my house which is 10 mins away. I don't have to use the interstate to go anywhere. Just down the streets. Too many silly folks out there on the highways who shouldn't be driving at all with all the road rages, drunk driving and texting while driving and so forth. I just don't see how they do it and get away with it. Just insane and mindblowing if you ask me.

Most U.S freeways were designed and built in the 40s through 80s. They’re designed for less traffic and lower speeds, around 50 mph through 65 mph. And yet you have ignorants, driving around the 100 mph range, sometimes more than that. And then people are surprised? I’m not. If you are driving more then 80 mph, that’s just asking for trouble.

I think a big problem with 45 is how many overpasses there are between beltway and downtown. I see it constantly, people speeding and then when you get to the top of the overpass - traffic is nearly stopped - and cars start slamming their brakes and accidents happen. You don't need to be intoxicated to be at risk either - any time there's traffic and people tailgating it's a recipe for disaster. Maybe that stretch just need to be elevated in the future, I doubt widening it will resolve the safety issues.

@@MasterMind171 Actually, I-45 goes north from Galveston to Dallas- Technically not and interstate because it never leaves Texas. I have the mixed blessing of owning my home about a half mile from I45, and it's my usual artery. The Interstate going east to west- LA to Jacksonville FL, through Baytown and Louisiana is I-10.

Widening 45 is not the solution. I've been driving 45 for 20 years, the problem is y'all don't know when to go slow and when to go fast. Stop breaking at every freaking curve. You can tell who drives 45 all the time by what lane they get in and when they move over and when they move back. When you can ride in the right lane and when you can't, ie Quitman. Get off the phone, pay attention. Don't follow to closely and go fast when you can slow when you need to.
I got rear ended on 45, the only accident I've ever had. Kid was just too close and going too fast for 8 am traffic.

Thankful for my dash cams & that i've always had full coverage, cant say they all did. and not everyone can have that. its sad, smdh.
