i'm 69 and saw many of these sorts of cartoons on TV when I was a boy. This seems familiar but I do not remember it. I hope I can find more of these old cartoons here. there are a few that do hang in the back of my mind that would be good to see again.
It's amazing to me that so much of the audacious inventiveness and style exhibited in this 2D animation has never reappeared in 3D animation work and probably never will. Thanks for the upload.
there is something about the classic cartoon that holds up even better today the animation of today cannot hold a candle to the animation of the 30s 40s and 50s🙂
The cartoon was actually choreographed. Hubley and his artists made extensive drawings of an L.A. - area dancer named Olga Lunick who worked out dance routines for the characters. Just check out Frankie's enrance into the courtroom and her pas de deux with her lawyer . . .
WHAT?! The Annoying Orange is the BEST....... ......example of shit on this planet. I absolutely loved this short film! So glad Brad Bird recommended it on Twitter!
Of course, Zippy the elf was killed by John Hubley, who was actually Santa in disguise so Left 4 Team Portal 3 episode 2 is coming out in the year 42000
Lots of political undertones in this cartoon, which is consistent with the ideology of the entities that made it. She represents American Capitalism, seductive & deceiving, only able to get off with her slick high priced lawyer. In the end we see her true nature as she shoots the lawyer.("the last capitalist will be hung by the very rope he just sold to the hangman"). In the fantasy world of cartoons she ends up punished when the masses, the jury, see what she (American Capitalism), really is.
Paul Terry got there first. He made intentionally made Terrytoons for kids when he noticed if kids laugh at a movie everyone else laughs too. He dumbed down the writing long before Hanna-Barbera dumbed down the animation.
I'm 22 and I use to love all these old cartoons, I just can't believe I never saw this before it was great!
That was one of the greatest cartoons I've ever seen in my life. Seriously.

This toon is full of quirky, wonderfully animated moments. Nellie Bly smoothing out her crumpled dress was pure genius!

Nominated for the Academy Award for best animated short. But lost to the Tom and Jerry short The Two Mouseketeers.
I loved how experimental they were in the 50s-60s with their animation it was so much fun to watch
6:56 : and here we go again...
Thanks a million for posting this great UPA production!!

0:21 : Myron "Grim" Natwick?! Oh, such a small world! He worked for Fleischer Studios (mainly in Betty Boop cartoons), this to mention a former job.
qué maravilla!
Chicago before Chicago
yes , I'm saying the same thing, it's based on a real dancer doing a real dance, that's not surprising.
Of course, Zippy the elf was killed by John Hubley, who was actually Santa in disguise so Left 4 Team Portal 3 episode 2 is coming out in the year 42000
Jesus better hurry and Buddha better scoot, because if they don't... Rooty Toot Toot.
true!
Could i have a link to that article sounds good.
Is that Thurl Ravenscroft as the defense attorney?
Yes
her feet are modeled on a ballet dancer's in toe shoes.
I was just thinking that, too bad she had a short temper and a knack with firearms...
The Who brought me her
Screen needs to be fixed.
because he was flirting with the singer
Technically she can't be tried again for the first murder despite everything now being obvious.
Not guilty then she shot the lawyer? Can someone explain WHY?
envy
Half-Life 3 confirmed
This vid was too dark.

Frankie is more beautiful than that no neck singer.
And then, Hanna-Barbera ruined cartoons as an art form.
