Great unboxing Emily! Couple of things i'd like to add as an otome fan: - You might not be aware but the comic strip inside the physical game cover actually contains spoilers. Just as well the lighting/camera makes the comic hard to read :P Other unboxings by otome fans purposely obscured or didn't show the cover for that reason (although i'd argue any form of spoilers shouldn't be on the reverse cover for any game). - Regarding drama CDs, IFI are one of very few localisers - not just otome - who localise drama CDs. Hence them coming West at all is a huge win for the small, diehard crowd of visual novel fans that want official translations for drama CDs. Companies know that most people share the same views you do regarding them in LEs, hence why most pass on them. IMO adding both the complete OST and a drama CD would be the ideal compromise. That said, Charade Maniacs' OST did get a seperate release in Japan, so you can import that down the line.
It's odd that they'd include spoilers on the reversible cover, especially because you have to open these Switch cases to have access to the game 😅 But much agreed, I think providing the Drama CD along with an OST would be a great compromise!
Love your vids. Takes me back when I used to run around the Bay Area to find Saturn imports or NYC for PS3 and earlier imports. I love ordering anything I want online but I miss the hunt.
Much as I enjoy VNs I’ve never really been inclined to play an otome game 😂 but the character designs look great and that looks like an excellent limited edition!
Wow. That's a fantastic unboxing. The art style & steel book game looks very awesome. Big pics too that come with it. It looks really solid as well. I love watching your videos.
All the guys have great designs! There's one 'problematic' romanceable character though that I hope stays platonic - I didn't mention him because it's a minor spoiler lol.
I love the boxes that open like that instead of the boxes where you need to open a flap at the top, which invariably is made of cheap cardboard and bends. Witch on the Holy Night has a similar box, as does MAGLAM LORD. Question for you if you have time to answer it: how many hours do you estimate that you play games in a fairly typical week? It seems like it takes me forever to complete games and I am so far behind where I want to be making my way through my collection. 😓
I really enjoy how this box was constructed - the cardboard isn't as sturdy as Witch on the Holy Night but it still feels fairly substantial. For gaming I try to get in 1-2 hours a day, with longer hours on the weekends. I'll admit that lately it's been difficult to balance gaming time with all the video content I've been juggling. With all the long RPGs I play it's difficult to make much of a dent in my backlog too 😅
It's impressive how much was included in the limited edition. Including the audio dramas with translations seems especially cool. Charade Maniacs looks ambitious for an otome and i like the character designs but i do get turn off when there are so many routes. thanks for the unboxing
@orbalology it's also good to see these more niche games are still getting physical editions. As things inch closer to digital only its reassuring physical media still has a place.
I can't deny that collectors edition gotta be a 10/10. I even like the style of the box they chose (two piece top cover), I could see a young woman having a shoebox under her bed filled with mementos of her previous flings, lol. Although the CD only has 3 tracks, I'd hope more than 6 of the photo-graph-papers they chose to include aren't just winning screen snapshots, but instead images of moments in the game that convey strong intimacy and vulnerability.
I think I prefer this style of box too for LEs, the ones where you have to dig in to open from the top/bottom can damage too easily. And yeah I wouldn't have complained if they included more of those bromides/photos :)
Oh it depends on what you're looking for! My favorite tend to be more mystery based, so I'll always recommend AI The Somnium Files. The characters & plot twists are top tier! Some other ones that are great are ofc 13 Sentinels for the JRPG hybrid VNs, and Danganronpa along with Ace Attorney are classics :)
That is some pretty cool stuff they put in there! I also like that the box isn't GI-normous (space being the constant issue it is...). I really want to get into more visual novels, because the few I've read have been great. Are there any in particular you'd recommend? I'm not put off by romance or anything, but you know the kooky sort of stuff I'm into, so I wanted to see if you knew of any that might be good for me to check out.
I think Collar x Malice may be an otome VN worth trying! It has a weird thriller mystery plot you may find fun, and the romantic parts come second to the story which is always a plus in my book. I've also been thinking of bumping up Bustafellows higher up my - I hear that one is also very plot focused in a good way :)
I miss the old video game books which was basically instruction manual. This game sounds like the ABC show The Bachelorette which starts at 20-25 guys vying for the one woman's heart. At same time, this also reminds me of some anime\manga I've seen but those often times starts with one and then slowly add more into the harem mix.
I’ve been meaning to ask you how you get into visual novels. I’ve always cared more about the story than the gameplay. So, I thought visual novels would e a natural evolution for me, especially since I’m studying Japanese, so there is an immersion component to the Japanese dialog, but every time I wit down (usually lay down with my switch), I can’t make any meaningful progress. I struggle to get my brain to switch to story mode and not gaming mode. I don’t know, it is a mindset thing I think, but I’ve been growing a collection of what I’ve read are “the best” visual novels (like Luv Wuv which topped the list, though I don’t know why) Utawaremono, the Stein’s gate universe of titles you mentioned in another video and most recently loop 8, but I have yet to complete a single one. Any tips to get into the right headspace?
The steel book looks so nice! I think there are a lot of steel books if you consider different regions & some of those limited print publishers. But yeah I don't think there are that many exclusive switch steel books outside of Nintendo IPs.
@@orbalology Yes, I'm waiting for the sequel! Otome is not my favourite genre, but this one has a lot of crime plot, which I find very interesting Amazing video as always btw :)
@@orbalology Same, I really love mistery ones, so exited for Raincode June 30th (although I don't know if it can be taken as a VN) Recently I also got the ace attorney trilogy and Danganronpa, amazing ones

It’s cool that these companies are sending you stuff to unbox
It was pretty cool that they reached out to me so I can share what their LEs look like on the channel :)

Thank you so much :)
I’m always impressed by the character designs in otome VNs. Congrats on the getting your first collectors edition from a company! Well deserved.
Thank you! :)
That's very nice out of Idea factory. Glad you can enjoy that unboxing Emily. Not my cup of tea but sounds like something you're very interested in.
Great unboxing, you inspire me with each upload to keep creating as one day my channel May blow up 🙏
Thanks, I wish you the best on your channel as well!
Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thanks for watching! :)
Much as I enjoy VNs I’ve never really been inclined to play an otome game 😂 but the character designs look great and that looks like an excellent limited edition!
Ha, it's certainly a very niche genre, but thanks for watching all the same :)
Wow. That's a fantastic unboxing. The art style & steel book game looks very awesome. Big pics too that come with it. It looks really solid as well. I love watching your videos.
Thanks! I'm really pleased with the design choices in this LE as well :)
Awesome video as always! My CE should be arriving on Monday.
Thank you! And nice, hope you enjoy your CE!!
your videos make me feel comfortable, thank you for that :)
I'm glad to hear :)
The bachelors look lovely! 🥰 Great video Em, so cool to see all those goodies included!

Really enjoy your content. Thank you for letting us get a little glimpse into your world.❤️

Very cool collectors edition! It was very fun to watch. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Thanks Erica! Hope your weekend has been going great :)

Yeah I tend to enjoy VNs with fewer routes, as they often are a bit more fleshed out. Sorta quality > quantity, lol. But thanks for watching!
I'm not much of an otome fan but that special edition looks good. Good to see switch is keeping the spirit of vita alive.
I don't blame you, otome VNs are about as niche as you can get 😂 But I agree - it's great to see the Switch house so many niche games like the Vita :)
@orbalology it's also good to see these more niche games are still getting physical editions. As things inch closer to digital only its reassuring physical media still has a place.
💯
SEEEEEAAALLED!!

thank you for bringing yet another quality content.

😮 these games are not my cup of tea but I came running just to watch and support you. Greetings from Australia.
Thank you :)
Great unboxing and awesome special edition. Any visual novels on the Switch you would recommend, Emily?

Very decorative! It is nice when game has a lot of extra accessories and items! It is also nice to get Japanese voice audio drama CDs.
Yeah this LE is rather nice, I really love the overall design choices. It'll be very vibrant on the shelf :)
I've never played a visual novel but I really like the design of the box. Thanks for the show n tell 😊😊😊
Thanks for watching! VNs can have some pretty cool stories if you ever decide to give them a try ☺️
I see Orbalology new vid, I click. Best way to kick off my weekend at work. 👍
Hope you have a great weekend despite having to work!
Hope everything goes well at work. I was fortunate to get 4 days off at my work. I go back Monday.
that steelbook looks amazing
The design is really eye catching!

Haha, the plotlines in otome VNs can sound like something right out of The Bachelorette show 😂
For the interior art it seems really nice but almost faint.

You are so awesome Emily
Thanks! 😄
Love the steelbook I don't think there's that many steel book editions for the switch I could be wrong

Granted I’m not huge on visual novels I will say that this collectors is def giving me persona vibes!
The art really gives off a cool style similar to Persona :)
@@orbalology no doubt! Love it!
My first and only otome visual novel has been bustafellows, very enjoyable and good looking!
I have that one in my backlog, I thought the premise sounded really enjoyable as well. It's cool it got a sequel, hopefully they'll localize it soon.

I think Raincode is considered a VN, it's by the same people who made Danganronpa. Really looking forward to that one too 😄
youre so beautiful and lovely
that box design is beautiful! giving me persona vibes! 🩷✨
I really love the art style they went with as well!
You’re such a yumejoshi Emily. 😯
Uh, I wouldn't say that. While I sometimes enjoy shipping characters they're never with myself 😂
