If you do want to do the Harry Potter bridge at some point, it's called the Glenfinnan Viaduct and I did it by train myself a few years ago. It's on the line between Fort William and Mallaig. You don't see much of the viaduct arches while you're on the train though, although it does curve around a bit.
l ner is good too but they don't have trolleys and their buffet cars don't have much. Some l ner trains have dining but only some trains. Some l ner trains are quite old.
Glad you guys had a good time but if you come back, or you are a viewer trip planning buy a two together railcard (or 16-25 or family as applicable) next time. You would have got 1/3 discounts on all that london train travel and these long ones, and all the scotl.... JUST ALL THE TRAINS FOLKS.
We both had carry - on size backpacks 45 L each they easily fit on the shelf above our seats, so I think carry on suitcases would as well. If not there was a luggage area I believe at the front of the compartment when you are getting on. But I do think they would fit above :)

I thought Lumo train tickets were supposed to be cheap My wife and I are planning on short break to Glasgow, from Newcastle at the end of May, but unfortunately tickets are still not available to book. However, just looking at prices for early in April, as a comparison, Lumo (32.39) is much higher than LNER (£19.50) .. for 2 adults, with a Two Together railcard to Edinburgh We actually used LNER in November for a trip to London (or first train journey for 20+ years) and have already booked another trip to Edinburgh for March (again LNER) so we just fancied trying another company
At the time we booked our train lumo was the cheapest train by far, it might change though depending on the time of year. We are not sure. We love train travel especially in the UK it’s so nice! We hope you enjoy your trip! :)
We have booked Lumo but now thinking we might have a problem with large size luggage which each of us bring. We're international travelers and every one of us bringing large size luggage. Any idea to solve this as we plan to only visit Edinburgh for two days. Thank you
I believe at either end of the train car there should be a place you can put luggage that won’t fit in the over head bin :) hope that helps and enjoy your trip!!
Fun fact: The Lumo goes through Stevenage, Lewis Hamilton's home town and also the town with Europe's highest underage pregnancy rate. I think the working class lad done well. NB I'm not linking the two facts.
