    • @hakkdgarage9557
      @hakkdgarage9557 7 лет назад +10

      Zack Ryan what's the transmission got to do with space? on body .? the suspension lift strains everything like suspension the frame etc. the body lift just helps mechanics get under hood and fix stuff and a cheap lift

    • @FordFan01
      @FordFan01 7 лет назад +2

      Hakkd Garage The only lift that stresses suspension components are cheap lifts that use the stock control arms and put a block over your stock springs. The lift that is best functionally, looks good, and doesn’t require you to lift the body and therefore, create problems is a more expensive suspension lift (don’t know the technical term but technically it’s a suspension lift) such as pro-comp.
      In my opinion, if you do something, you do it right. Not take the cheap way out with block lifts and body lifts. Because in the long run, you want a dependable, strong, and reliable truck.

    A Performance Accessories 3'Body lift for your truck comes with bumper relocation brackets, solving your bumper drop problems, and gap guards to solve that problems as well.Only down side, is you can't use your bull bar any longer. I have had numerous body lifts on different trucks and never had any complaints,always using Performance brand lifts.

    • @WheelinWithAustin
      @WheelinWithAustin 8 лет назад +2

      Mine worked great, didn't ride any different. People hate it because everyone does it improper, aka they don't use gap guards, bumper brackets, exhaust mods, so everything looks like it's hanging low, if you do it right it looks good.

    The reason why they couldn't fix your front bumper is because the bumper mounts are attached to the frame and you're moving the cab up from the frame. So the bumper stays at the same height with the fame. The reason they couldn't fix it is because they would have to either change the frame or completely take off the bumper mounts and try to re weld then somewhere else. The amount of knowledge you know is actually so minuscule, it's actually painful to watch

    lol make up your mind bud. Title says 5 Reasons Not to Buy A Body Lift
    reason 1: you didnt like the gaps, but now it doesnt matter. So since it doesnt matter thats not a reason you shouldnt buy it.
    Reason 2: Can't use your spare tire even though you said you were already going to take it off.
    Reason 3: You clearly said youre the ONLY person thats every complained about it.
    Reason 4: thats why you buy the bumper relocation brackets. Which are recommended to get by Zone and CLEARLY stated multiple times.
    Reason 5 is the only thing you couldnt have been stupid on. This is the only one that can obviously not be fixed.

    5 reasons not to do a body lift:
    1) bigger gap between body and frame
    2) can't store spare tire in stock location
    3) top of engine bay is now slightly recessed below the body
    4) bumpers must be lifted to match body lines
    5) higher center of gravity
    There, I just saved anyone else coming across this video 16 mins & 17 seconds. You're welcome.

      1. Get gap guards for body and frame.
      2. Spare tire will work you have to run the handle under the bumper instead of through it.
      3. You have more room under the hood to get up there n work on the engine also allows for a bigger engine and a kick ass blower.
      4. Bumper brackets are easy af to install.
      5. Slow down and don’t drive like an idiot. You have a lifted truck. Center of gravity is goin to change.

    • @davrei87
      @davrei87 8 лет назад +1

      uni-body. The frame is built into the under body of the vehicle. There is no solid one piece frame for the body to sit on. This is a little irrelevant because almost all trucks have a solid frame. Usually its cars that don't. Probably would not work on some SUV's as well, depending how they are made.

  • @adventuresiwork3563

    Alright. A few ways to beat the "problems that most us actual enthusiasts do. We get or have inner fender well covers. That helps with road debris and mud building up creating rust. Get some side steps to cover the frame, over size tires wont fit under the truck and dangerous to run 2 different size tires on the same axle. Having the body up off the transmission will help when it comes to ever having to pull the transmission out or t-case. Relocation brackets move the bumber to match the body. Moving the center of gravity will also be moved with a suspension lift. It will actually make it worst. Kinda why you go a little slower around curves. It's a truck. Not a race car. The exhaust, go after market. Go get a custom exhaust put on or a muffler shop will move the tip up.

    ok the gap you say you like now. the sapre tire rust so you like it better in the bed and the extra room under the hood is a bonus if you actually turned a wrench instead of paying mechanics to do it. the bumper ya thats harsh i would complain about it the exhaust any muffler shop can bend it to where it matches factory position.

    Take it easy city boy, a body lift is a cheaper and easier alternative to a suspension lift, a suspension lift you are literally changing all of your steering components and putting more stress on your tie rods and ball joints and springs etc, as opposed to just lifting the body of the frame with spacers, in this you change the bumpers for sure, if you go for a real body lift 3' or more, you might have to cut the frame to raise your bumpers high enough, extend break lines and wires, but it doesn't put stress on anything or cost you nearly as much as a suspension lift, also why are you complaining about more room in the engine bay? I'd love that

  • @paulg444

    The body lift allows you to put on bigger tires, there is no reason to put on a body lift if you are going to run those small tires.
    I think the under the hood situation is better with the body lift, it actually gives you more room when you are working under there. The engine bay is far better with the body lift because it gives you more room to work under the hood.
    Doesnt everyone know that the bumper lift is a simple kit that comes with every body lift kit?
    The spare tire situation is easy to fix. and no one would ever be dumb enough to even think about cutting their frame.

    Are your inner genders and firewall separate from the rest of your truck ? About the only thing that would be lower is the engine and radiator on some as they sat in the frame but even that the only issue was the fan hitting the shroud yet most body lift kits supplied a quick fix for that as well as relocation brackets for any hard lines(fuel,brake) the gap is easily fixed with gap guards or even a piece of painted sheet metal mounted in place, high Center of gravity shouldn’t be an issue as mounting larger tires means wider tires and in order to not rub frame most mount them on offset wheels, as for the gap between body and engine having that extra space to work with is a blessing when it comes to oil pressure sensor and distributor cap and rotor. Issues you didn’t touch on is most body lift kits come with a piece of pipe to install on fuel filler neck as well as an extension for the steering shaft. Bumpers have relocation brackets. Seeing the frame from under the truck ??? Adding any lift brings the frame more into view add a 6” or more lift and you’ll definitely start noticing the frame. Body lift or no body lift is a preference but also an easy fix for those looking for that little extra space possibly needed to fit larger tires. If you’re interested in a body lift get informed beforehand check for all options available as well as parts you may need that doesn’t come with the kit, if you don’t install it yourself at the very least bring it to a shop that has experience installing them as no shop should ever say they can’t raise a bumper 😂 as for the spare there’s relocation for the insert tool as having it sit in your box takes up valuable space at least this one is tied down as I’ve seen others having them just loose (hit a bump hard enough makes for good videos though) and any trail riding having to climb in the box looking for the spare only to realize you lost it somewhere on the trail well that brings out a new vocabulary.

    • @Derec
      @Derec  5 лет назад

      The rear wheel wells do not have fender liners and a suspension lift does not lower the frame from the body

    • @andrejesse
      @andrejesse 5 лет назад

      Derelict you said you didn’t like seeing too much of the frame, any lift begins to show more of the underside of the truck and yes you can install wheel well gap liners in the rear when doing a body lift so you don’t notice the box no longer sitting on the frame although most body lift kits include weld on plates for some areas of the box cause if there’s cross bracing not supported you won’t be able to place much in the box without causing droop, and most body lift kits give you the bumper extensions or offer it as an add on. I’m guessing though you don’t see much off-roading as you don’t even perform your own work or have very little knowledge about the subjects you speak of. Spend some time wrenching and testing out products before making the videos, get some knowledge and experience
