If you grow wings, how do you put a t-shirt on??
"Is it really ok to give a human wings without asking their permission ?" that's a very good question.
But I would argue "Is it really ok to give a human LIFE without asking their permission ?". Most of us seem agree that yes it is.
But isn't that a paradox ?
Luc Deligne YES, we all need wings

@Emily Rice, there are many impossibilities in life.
Here are a few.
I cannot live your life.
You cannot live my life.

You cannot fly unaided.
You cannot grow extra limbs beyond birth.

F you
@@Crowstrove he's right tho, so f you
Another problem: the wings of a bird or a bat are technically their arms, so even in theory it wouldn't be as simple as taking out the wing coding from a bird or bat genome and pasting it into a human one to get an otherwise normal human-but-with-wings. A human with two legs, two arms, _and_ a pair of wings would have six full limbs, something that neither birds, bats, nor humans are really equipped to have.
If a human wanted wings we'd either have to sacrifice their human arms by _replacing_ them with the wings, or else find a way to engineer a human body that can support what is essentially a very specialized second set of arms.
That's creepy..
a six limb human is possible in faact there was a man in india who had 4 legs count the arms and thats six limbs but the man went to get the two extra legs amputated since 2legs is enough for humans
@@shamarerskine3987 The additional limbs were a twin which didn't fully develop. Not the same thing.
I like how they say you should ASK if a unborn baby wants wings. OH but a lab rat definitely wanted to be poisoned!

@@Crowstrove Incorrect. Growing wings is impossible. Not now, not ever. Wings have never been part of human anatomy. Where did you get your information given the fact humans cannot grow wings? Did you just make up the answer? Of course you did. Your answer is 100% false. As usual.
@@MaxCruise73 fuck Off you dont need to Break ppl dream
@@RikaShinePY Agreed.
well actually with the rise of 3D printing cells we have the potential to artificially create wings, the tricky part would be linking them up with the brain and then actually learning to use them, plus your metabolism would have to call for more energy to actually use the wings in flight, not to mention you may need stronger skeletal support where the wings would attach to your body.
Allegedly a plastic surgeon called Dr Joe Rosen at Dartmouth university is working on this. Unfortunately I've only found one interview on it, from last year, so I'm not sure it's reliable. The interviewer also outright disrespects him, and says that any amount of people who would want wings, horns, or tails, are mentally ill and attention seeking, so I understand why he hasn't done more interviews even if it is legit. He estimated wings to be (presumably non-genetically) implanted into humans within the next decade

@Alberto The Fishy, your analogy is foolish. That said, if any child has cancer, why isn't there a request for spell casters to put their magical skills to good use and cure that child. Or when a soldier returns home missing an arm or a leg, or both, where are the spell casters that can regrow the lost limbs? Spell casters can grow wings which is NOT part of human anatomy. Restore lost limbs, which IS part of human anatomy should be mere child's play. Do you see that happening anywhere?

Lana Ferreira same
type up the man who grew his wings watch that
@Lana Ferreira, what you seek is impossible. Did you or did you not watch and understand the content of this video?
@Lana Ferreira, You needed to know the truth. As clearly stated in the video, what you seek is impossible.
I know
Its even more complicated because different parts of your DNA contribute to make up single features. Like fingernails might not come from a single snippet of the DNA strand, but is scattered in pieces throughout the whole thing. And to make matters worse, that same code probably effects other features. Maybe the DNA code snippet that gives birds elongated arms also gives them hard beaks. Maybe the bat's webbed skin DNA also makes them blind. So we have to move slowly in genetic engineering, maybe even wait for computer simulations to be able to do the experiments virtually. We're a long long way from successfully and harmlessly giving humans new anatomy, probably 100+ years. Not to say we won't see illegal experiments done before that though. So yeah, maybe we'll make a winged human in my lifetime, but it'll probably be green, blind, be missing half its organs, and die minutes after birth. People living today have a much better chance at flying using artificial robotic wings.
saeklin a high efficiency, single human powered aircraft can be the same use as wings.
I wonder if in my next life I will be a dragon :3

The best you could hope for is that you would be a glider! The largest flying birds today Andean Condor around 30-40 pounds. With hollow bones and very complex lungs. Only part of the equation that allows them to fly. But we do have hang gliders, wingsuits, and the Archeaopteryx.

I did and I understand
Use biokineses!
gulam ahmed use witchcraft, yes yes the wing spells don't stretch your back a lot or you can regret it...
@Fear Collosus, why use something that will not work to produce wings? Biokineses does nothing.
image being born and just have wings, that’d be lit
Off the bad, in a sci-fi scenario where you could attach wings to a developed human, you would need to alter the rest of their body to accommodate for flight. Just flightless wings would be a lot simpler, but you'd still bang them on door frames until you got used to it. Would also make putting on shirts or sitting on backed chairs a little inconvenient.
What if you get a surgury that gives you really strong hollow bones that don’t weigh anything and you get attached wings that have mucles nerves and cells that you need and your heart that can give blood to the body parts?
Gods that'll be advanced, well need trillions of nerves and cells and blood vessels
But while giving birth with wings ... wont the mother die of labour pain?

@@justov3049 Sorry, not one dime will ever be spent on wing growing research.
MaxCruise73 too bad your belief is crushed bc some people are actually reaserching and spending money
I'm really surprised that a biologist that works at MIT would not give an answer that is more thorough. You could use gene therapy to slowly alter the genetic pattern of a human over time to produce an increased muscularture necessary for flight. You could then use tissue printing to grow the wings or even clone them onto a human blank. Then use surgery to connect them and use stem cells to assist in tissue regeneration, and finally using carbon nanatubes and gene therapy lighten and strengthen the skeleton to enable flight. Oh, and if course flying lessons. We have most of the technology to do this already and we are less than a decade away from being able to attempt early precursors to this project. It may require some type of 3-D printing and nanotechnology to help it along. The field of metamaterials is advancing extremely quickly. That may be an avenue to pursue as well.
only grow a pair of wings on your body is not enough, you also need to make a connection with your brain that you can send the signal to control the wing and eventually fly in the sky.
umm....anyone else realise bat genomes and bird genomes have the same components just moved around a bit?
Nadya Bauman hello Slytherin/Ravenclaw? Yeah I'm not sure...
@Nadya Bauman, please cite your sources.
MaxCruise73 😬😬.
Nadya Bauman no, the wing of a bat and bird are analogous structures, they have the same function but have a different structure
Everyone has the same genome letters it just is changed around to change the final outcome it's called DNA sentences
Nothing would go wrong :)
FBI OPEN UP, WE NEED YOUR CHILD
Where would the wings be will we have an extra pair of limbs or are adapted arms
Really useful thank u
How bowt we take a jenoe of a baby and bout it in a kid or oudlt and make thum in baby and bout thum wings???
@Wolf Wings, not one dime will be spent on wing growing research.
Youre wrong there people have always been looking to fly, it would help us with climate change because we wouldntneed as many things like cars and if there was a fire in a flat is would be easier to put out there are any ways having wings would help so shut it MaxCruise plus how do you think we evolve? we develop needs and those needs are eventually answered through evolution
@wind shadow, Humans have no evolutionary need to grow wings. None at all. In the mean time, growing wings continues to be impossible. There will always be a need for cars. What we need are cars that have LESS safety features which would reduce costs and weight. With few exceptions, automatic transmissions need to go away. Manual transmissions are cheaper to produce and reduces distracted driving.
MaxCruise73 you act like you're sooo fucking smart. It really is hilarious. And if you happen to call me "ugly" as an insult, keep in mind that I have the fucking balls to take a selfie for my profile picture instead of hiding my fucking face.

Profane angry child, you do not have "balls."
There is so much anger in you.
In my next life depending on if rencarnation is real(i think it is)if we have found out how to do this i would like to have this donw but in a more delicate way, i would have half human half bird,so i would like to have hollow bones, air sacks for extra oxygen, tail feathers, wings, and possible even better vision and smell, but thats way in the future im just saying if this was to happen i would definitly do it
ShadowTheLoneWolf ...or you can wait until an avian race develops civilization
That would be cool, I just have to say that birds don't quite have the "keen sense of smell" that you would expect. If you want better smell, you'd have to be a vulture so.
If I wanted to study this and work in it? What what I go to school for ?
Gene splicing from bird/bat DNA would convert the baby's arms into wings. Adding wings as separate limbs would have all sorts of issues. Not to mention it would be extremely tiring to fly with natural wings. Anyone who wants to fly, join the quest to develop robotic wings. I'm fairly sure it can be done with current materials.

Umm-
I have one question?
Does growing wings hurt?
@
Suga Stan OneOnOne Nomin Hard core shipper, since growing wings is impossible, answer to your question is NO.
Re-watch the video a few times.
Well for something like wings you could use stem cells to make a set of wings that are genetically modified to match you DNA then you just graft them on
wouldnt adding wings to the human just turn their arms into wings? how would you designate a third set of limbs to appear on the back?
I have question: Wouldn´t it be possible to grow wings on an adult, when you implant stem cells with the needed modifications and than stimulate it with similar transcription factors like in embryo development? I can´t see why not, but genetics are not my specialty. You will need a lot more research of cause.
I'd be 100% okay had I been genetically modified to been the person human with wings
When I get back to earth I give you permission to give me wings..thanks in advance!!
you could give an adult wings if you could put him in a womb-like device so it would start rebuilding the body again
POV: you're me and realize you could make robotic wings kind of like the falcon from the spiderman series
Can u make a object move with ur mind?
@Chainsaw, answer to your question.
No.
Shame your question went unanswered for 5 months.
In order to fly, there may need to be a second pair of wings directly below the main pair, like dragonflies, butterflies, and moths, these don’t include beetles or ladybugs, as their second pair is hardened, if you can move each wing separately, that is even better.
Yes. So many depictions of such creatures in art are completely lacking any kind of pitch control, and it's infuriating. Although for gliding, a large tail fin may be more efficient than having 4 wings.
Have you watched Dune, the ornithopters are inspired by dragonflies
You don't need wings to fly, however you will have to sell your soul to gain the ability.
How do you grow wings
Just wondering
You realize the thumbnail, the person is facing front?
Don't we need the gen for flight music?
How do you grow wings
The problem is if we could potentially like idk connect wings to our nerves the problem is that there are no wings big enough to do that
To be fair, nobody asked the baby permission to be born into the world.
Does this work tell me someone

Okay but if we sid have wings would if be huge?
@Rage Plays, answer to your question.
Yes.
Wings would be huge.
I have phantom limbs. They don't exist and never did and never can but I can FEEL wings on my back. I can get cramps in them. I can move them. I can feel the blood flow through them and the warmth. I've also had the sensation that they've been ripped off from my back and the excruciating pain as well as the freezing cold on the stubs and the blood flowing over the wound... none of this ever happened, never can, and never will as I never had wings and it's impossible to get them but considering that no one actually has wings as a human I can't even use things that amputees do such as mirror therapy and such so I'm stick feeling the pain, the itchiness, and the other various sensations as well. The positive side of this though is that I can just close my eyes and then I can feel the wind, I can see the world around me, I feel the wind blowing through the feathers on my wings and water as a great ocean crashes below me. It's freedom for me whenever I go to this place I just an ridden of all stress, all sadness, only you and freedom. I know this sounds cringe or even fake but those sensations are as real as a fire is hot, if not more.

The video says you can't ask an unborn baby is it wants wings
Well let me ask you this if this baby is unborn then they don't have a say because there not even a person yet.
Also just so you know when scientists do figure out how to alter DNA there going to do is no matter if you or the person there doing it on likes it or not, because that's just what people do we don't care if it's "right" or "wrong" we just do it because we can. Unless of coarse it will result in something like the world getting destroyed or something like that. But given people wings willingly or unwillingly will not turn out that bad.
"Project Ako Uncivil Wars", "Tangled Series", Edith Nesbit's "Melisande", Disney's "Gigantic" and "Her Der Drei Welten (1960)" Rapunzel scenes could also have her braid her hair into an aerospace fuselage hull and later unbraid back into towering coiffure would make more sense since amount of energy needed for a human to fly would probably exceed what Mitochondria fuel cells could produce even if a digestive tract could be engineered as lithotrophic while Clusius thermal diffusion or Girdler Sulfide to extract isotopic fuels concentrically around a lung drainage Tesla fluidic rectifier to galvanic electrocyte urethra and rectum anus could electroform electrochemically mill excrement as reactor fuels.
Anime "Angel Links" has a bat winged cat as an old joke goes anyone can fly once in microgravity or zero gravity to remember how a clerk at of a photocopy shop wanted a winged cat.
August 2004 issue of "Popular Mechanics" describes other mechanisms to extract isotopic fuels often patented if such tissues could be bioengineered.
"Science of Science Fiction" by Peter Nichols stated "Secret is energy".
Lighter than air techniques and aerodynamics are bulky while Reynolds Numbers along with thrust per unit area of wing loading would require viscosity of air to increase exponentially beyond what living tissue could endure.
What about just doing it to someone at any age and the sells would be like oh hay this needs to happen now
Its called genetic engineering, you can do surgery befire you are born to edit the traits and looks. So for example you can make your baby smart, beautiful with hazel eyes.
