Nelson had already made a name for himself after winning the Battle of the Nile (also against France), but Trafalgar is definitely his most famous battle. Normally naval battles during this period were conducted by lines of ships sailing parallel to each other so that they could both fire broadsides, but Nelson opted to sail his line directly THROUGH the Franco-Spanish lines. This was a pretty dangerous manoeuvre, since while you were sailing towards the enemy, they could fire at your ships while you couldn't really return it, but once he reached the enemy he cut directly through their line and separated them, which disorganised them and eventually secured victory.
I only just learned about admiral Nelson when i watched kings and generals battle of Trafalgar so im gonna learn more i love this song already because i live history bands like sabaton
If you want a good movie about Naval Warfare in this period, Master & Commander is a highly acclaimed classic.
I was reading about Trafalgar when this video came out. How timely.
One of my favorite battles to learn about. Some of my favorite paintings ever are of this battle. Horatio Nelson laying of the deck dying, yet having achieved victory. When we went to London we saw Trafalgar Square. And I probably looked like a freak but I wanted to cry. Meant a lot to see it. Just wished I hadn’t missed HMS victory. While Nelson might be the best admiral ever. I’ve always thought the greatest was John Paul Jones. But that’s a little biased to my countrymen

You gotta check out Civil Wars newer stuff like; Invaders, Oblivion, warrior soul and soldiers and kings. Brave heart, Tombstone, Bay of pigs and Savannah are also good stuff! They have NO bad songs, but alot of bangers!
