The “High Speed Harsh Braking” scenario is probably 70% of rear end, multi car crash scenarios on highways today. Can you imagine if all cars had this tech on board? This type of crash would be deleted from existence. The most common issue with this type of crash is the Tesla correctly stops in time but is rear ended by some douche bag with crappy breaks or a human meat pilot not paying attention. This technology is a game changer. Any TSLAQ morons saying otherwise are delusional and don’t know what they are talking about.
Yeah, and I bet you the first accident will be because of a guy that was "playing" with it because it's autonomous, like brake checking or other things. Also, a happy new year from France !
We just drove from TX to CA and back for the holidays. 12.something and 13.2 on return... it needed a bit more prompting to get out of the fast lane on the way over, but was flawless on the way back. Anticipation of incoming on-ramp, merging, self-correcting mid lane change, even staying in lane as a speeding vehicle approached from a different lane behind us (of which I was unaware until they passed)... really phenomenal
One key thing here is that an FSD vehicle will follow rules that drivers don't.. ie tailgating, speeding, indicating, lane discipline. That in itself solves many issues
my experience has shown me that horn can just cause people to panic in these situations and they do dumb shit. the only time i can think of when you would lay on horn is when you are wanting the other person to do something and in my opinion you should never count on another driver ever and should just act yourself to the best of your ability.

I reached $138k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and insights you've shared with me over the past few months. I began this journey in October 2024. Financial education is essential for over 70% of the population, as only a few are truly literate in this area. Thanks so much Charlotte Grace Miller.
I'm celebrating a $30k stock portfolio today. started this journey with 6k. I have invested on time and also with the right terms now I have time for my family and the life ahead of me
She is my family's personal broker and also a personal broker in many families I'm United States, she's a licensed broker and a FINRA AGENT in United states
I just withdrew my profits a week ago, To be honest it was an amazing feeling when the profits hits my wallet I wish I could reinvest but, too much bills
I just got a model 3 two weeks ago. I would have liked to see how FSD handles a kid chasing a ball between parked cars. My dad was intent on me learning to always look out for kids playing near the street and to look under parked cars for balls, kids feet, and dogs about to run out into traffic. He would say, “You’ll never get over hitting a kid. No matter the circumstances, it’s your fault because it's your responsibility when you drive a car.”
While driving my 2024 Model X today while using FSD 13.5, had a car dangerously come out from a side street. Without my car hitting the brakes, a collision was inevitable. FSD did not instantly react, so I intervened in time. Can’t say if FSD would have reacted in time if I did not intervene. Don’t want to find out the hard way.
Once most cars have FSD, I hope they will be able to communiate with each other about hazards, braking and evasive actions of the other cars around them. It could not only bring down accident rates but also insurance.
At last years new years party I told my employees that in a decade cars will travel down the highways merging and unmerging seamlessly at speed, like a school of fish or flock of birds. That traffic lights/signs will only be there for people driving for pleasure. And that it would be Elon and they would regret not putting some of their bonus $$ in TSLA. They clowned me pretty good and I was half drunk and only half serious, but damn does it look increasingly likely. It's both exciting and terrifying in a way. I'm almost 50 and only have one investment outside of my business. Onward.
Nice. 2 things to note: First, the car is driving in a very slow speed (zoom in 2 c it’s 7-10 miles instead of 25-30 in an urban road). Second, I wish Tesla would introduce some of the FSD behaviour to its AutoPilot, like finally eliminating all the phantom breaking.
What I've noticed when driving 12.5.x is not that it doesn't react to these situations, but that it tends to overreact or react when not necessary. I suspect in the left turn in front of scenario, even if the vehicle only turned a little then ended up going straight FSD would still have stopped or slowed way down quickly. That's probably an OK outcome, unless it causes the car behind you to rear end you. I've almost been rear ended several times doing 85 on the freeway, as nobody expects sudden hard braking while passing another vehicle.
Interesting, so perhaps they're categorizing scenarios and AI figures out the best action in real time? These examples would have to be under a top-level category of 'Dry conditions'. The teaching and learning is so impressive.

When they dropped the cone, I would have loved to see two cars side by side to see how the car swerved and if it would take into account the car alongside it.
Its a great video they made. IMO the only sketchy thing FSD does in these scenarios is #5. On 12.3 AI3 MY I disengaged when the car turned the wheel toward a passing semi truck AND starting moving toward it before it had cleared (I was turning left after the truck passes). You can see a similar behavior is this #5, the early wheel turn toward the opposing car and roll forward. Could it have worked out in my case? Maybe, but its unnecessary and could use fine tuning there. Looking forward to future versions!
I agree. Others backing out of their driveway cannot hear the Tesla driving through the neighborhood. I would honk my horn if I see them backing out of their driveway.
It depends on the circumstances. The video clips were designed to show Tesla's fast reaction speeds, so beeping the horn would not of helped. However there are other circumstances where two cars (or more) braking would have been safer than one.
@@gregbailey45 What are you talking about? Over my 50 years of driving I have had many situations where honking my horn stopped someone from backing out of their driveway and avoided a possible accident. Otherwise, how does the person backing out know I am even there? Using your horn nicely lets others know you are there. What would the Tesla do if it cannot stop before the driveway, speed up? And what if the car backing up kept going and tried to back into the Tesla on the street? Would the Tesla have backed up to avoid a collision? Using your horn is the correct move, and that’s why cars come with them as standard equipment. Driving defensively I have never had an accident.
My concern is still the same with potholes in the road that should be avoided. Also, in foggy weather or in climate weather, the car wants the driver to take over. How do they resolve that.
Guess they didn't program road-rage into FSD for instances of other cars driving badly. No screeching tires, laying on the horn for minutes at a time, and no swearing. Maybe all that'll be in the next update.😂😂😂😂

You can see a similar behavior is this #5, the early wheel turn toward the opposing car and roll forward. Could it have worked out in my case? Maybe, but its unnecessary and could use fine tuning there. Looking forward to future versions!
Their should be a feature that you can turn on where your Tesla automatically honks the horn is these situations.
I agree. Others backing out of their driveway cannot hear the Tesla driving through the neighborhood. I would honk my horn if I see them backing out of their driveway.
@tomdrewenskus8167 but it's not going to change the outcome. Why bother?
It depends on the circumstances. The video clips were designed to show Tesla's fast reaction speeds, so beeping the horn would not of helped. However there are other circumstances where two cars (or more) braking would have been safer than one.
That's exactly what FSD will get away from, and not before time.
Love the inconspicuous XC60 in half the shots, they really know what target group they're stealing from Volvo with model Y haha :D
My concern is still the same with potholes in the road that should be avoided. Also, in foggy weather or in climate weather, the car wants the driver to take over. How do they resolve that.
It'll be great to see third party testing too. Just for the sceptics.
Guess they didn't program road-rage into FSD for instances of other cars driving badly. No screeching tires, laying on the horn for minutes at a time, and no swearing. Maybe all that'll be in the next update.😂😂😂😂
havent seen the whole vid yet but what is on top of the cars?
Anyone know what the antennas on top of the cars are for?
What are these devices on the roof of each car ?
Looks like a commercial unit with the 4 antennas. Probably to view the camera video in real time with high bandwidth.
What is that on the roof of the Tesla? Lidar, radar? Or telemetry measuring?
