How come it's coming to an end... it's too good!
"I'm surprised she can find her desk.... that's not her desk."
I thought Nat would have learned her lesson about trying to use a performance review on an inept employee in a previous series.
She’s too nice, to fire them outright.
Nat is a workplace bully
I love the episode where Rhonda and HR basically fire Nat by creating work silos where she is the last to know information, but she doesn't get it. Kind of hilarious that Nat is now wondering how to fire someone else
@@Mrsheen-dq6vx Nowadays, you cannot just fire people unless they have committed some kind of Gross Misconduct.
There is no official definition for Gross Misconduct. The "Gross" is meant to imply that the person has committed a serious breach in the workplace.
I once told a work group that if they did not like it, I could arrange for them to be sitting on their lunchboxes outside of the front gate within half an hour. Where that ended up half an hour later is me in the Project Managers office being told I was not allowed to say things like that to the workers.
If you want to fire people nowadays, you have to either make them redundant, promote them, transfer them, or use a technique called Performance Management which can take about a month to build the paper trail that justifies their sacking.
You have to be so careful not to walking into a discrimination or unfair dismissal claim.. because once the lawyers are finished, it could cost hundreds of thousands in compensation...... Needless to say... you will be terminated for causing that problem, the moment is is legally resolved.
it's sad to see that they have learnt nothing over the past 5 seasons. it's brutal.
Love this series and sad its coming to an end. But the portrayal of the workplace incompetence in this most recent episode, is all too real and made me anxious about my own workplace. Clearly working dog is doing an excellent job.
Sad we can't watch it in the UK. Now it's just woke shite that people have just switched off completely
That's exactly what happened to me as a supervisor in the UK civil service, I as a supervisor told another team member that they weren't pulling their weight and were adding extra work load to the rest of the team. I got a written warning
I really must say you guys really hit the nail on the head about the Australian PS.
My dad was the deputy and acting director for the Bureau of Transport Economics in the 80s.
In one of your episodes it looks like you tracked down their original report on the VFT.
He was basically dealing with farmers worried about their cows and dodgy property developers, while knowing full well what a white elephant it would become.
Pretty well everything you came up with was the actual sentiment of the time.
Indeed I had the opportunity to ride on the first XPT from Canberra to Sydney. My dad knew it wasn't really ready.
It promptly broke down a few miles down the track.
The driver was getting the passengers to look for a part that fell off. It was hilarious.
My dad was a bit of a hands on guy. Having been an engineer already.
He tried to get the ABS to give him highway stats on the Hume.
When they said no, he and a large chunk of his department sat on the road taking license numbers and times at various points along the road.
Apparently they clocked one truck doing 160k on AVERAGE down the road.
@@HouseholdDog certainly have some stories, that's all they are.
@@bennoakes2477 At least one of them I was actually there for.
Direct words about the performance are far better than stupid emails. Always let your subordinates know what you are expecting from them(realistically), what areas they are lagging and what they can do to improve. Never ever talk about someone performance in front of other employees.
Almost impossible to fire someone on poor performance nowadays.
A performance review is not a time to fire someone. It’s to review and give that person the 1,395th chance to do better. Then you have to have a review about the performance since the last review.
I love these two.. the actress is as dry as..😂👍
Maybe this is imposter syndrome but I feel like I'm not up to the standard of what's expected of me at work. Thing is, no one has really told me that or hinted that to me aside from a few very subtle comments. I find it very frustrating because if someone just had the conversation with me "hey man, this isn't good enough we expect more" and gave me something more concrete to aim for I think I'd do a lot better. What I'm working on now is taking a long time but that's mainly because if i completed it early I don't think I'd have anything to do.
Same boat - I have absolutely no idea if I'm doing good work or not because I never get any real feedback. No news is good news, I guess, but I can't help wondering what other people actually think of me.
Ive advised younger staff that a cross section of their engagement is... well.. not so great (and in diplomatic yet frank words) but done so nicely and with a genuinely good converation... but that has only really ended up in them becoming resentful in the end.... towards me
Little wonder
There is culture and people around who are really only looking for bad people in stupid roles and to hit the tall poppy because well, they ahve no idea what they are also doing.. you need to consider that if someone DID give you square advice where that leaves the people around you... surprising hey?! Some people have begun to NEED the stupidity of the workplace because they just dont know what it si they are doing AT ALL and really ahve no idea what it si to do a fair and engaged days work... just have no conception of it (anymore)... sad.
What they do know is loyalty and loyalty is king, competency doesnt matter and 'correcting people" is preserved for the direction of bosses BUT only when they are complying with their own bosses. Someone telling you you arent great, or rather, telling you how to do stuff right! can be (is) a threat to that discretion
Some days I think I’m Abby 😳
In case you were wondering, the friendly chat did not work😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
5 sec ad to watch 59 sec clip. That's a lot of ad per sec 🤷🏽♀️
