Ok not sure where you got your numbers from, but The Towering Inferno, my all-time favorite disaster movie earned a worldwide cumulative gross of $139,700,000. Still not as much as Titanic, but more than given credit for on this list.

I've looked at the video and it gives an adjusted worldwide gross of $671,800,000 for The Towering Inferno which is pretty impressive! That was in 2016 when I uploaded the video, it might be a bit higher now, maybe $700m. It's my favorite disaster movie of the 1970s.

A number of these films I wouldn't consider disaster movies. SF yes, disaster... no.

    1997년 1위, 2009년 2위, 1998년 3위, 1997년 4위가 전부 다 재난 영화가 초대형 블록버스터를 월드와이드 박스 오피스에 올라가고 있겠네요. 😄

Surprised to see Twister at 3. Remember it being pretty average.

It might not seem impressive now but it was a big hit 20 years ago. In fact if it wasn't for Independence Day, Twister would have been the most successful film of 1996. Hard to believe I know.

Wow start the movie off with a miss...granted #30 is not that old. Too bad the Swarm did not make the list. #25 This Is The End is a surprise entry. #22 The Impossible...that is a good total....especially since it did nothing in US. #20 Posideon....bad bad movie. #15 Earthquake...one of your boy Chuck's last blockbusters. #13 San Andreas....it was like watching a bad computer program. #12 Deep Impact? That means my boy Bruce is coming too. #10 Apollo 13....one of Tom's better movies. #9 Airport was the Die Hard of disaster movies. #7 Day After Stupid....bad movie that made no sense. #5 Gravity...good movie to watch in 3D. #3 Armageddon....Bruce in 3rd... a guilty pleasure for me. #1 Titanic...3 billion...that is crazy. Well after missing the first movie...I roll off 29 in a row. Voted up.

Not your favorite genre Bruce? Disaster movies were very popular back in the 70s, they made a comeback in the 90s, now we have supervillains causing all the disasters and wrecking all the cities and lets not forget the destruction wrought by Autobots vs Decepticons. The criteria for this list was man-made and natural disasters, so alien-made and robot-caused disasters were out. I included This is the End more as a joke, it was about the ultimate biblical disaster, the end of days. The biggest surprise for me was seeing The Poseidon Adventure topping The Towering Inferno in adjusted grosses, I thought Inferno was the big one. Thanks for posting.
