A custom retro with the Classified Stalker is easily done and if you require the webbing, you could always get a retro Cobra Trooper and take it from there because it's the exact same as this release.
Good review I enjoy all of your Joe reviews! About the backpack/case, it seems to be made for the M-32 Pulverizer and not the light machine gun. Remove the magazine from the M-32 and it will slide in nice into the backpack/case (that’s what she said). There is also a place to store the magazine. Sorry if this was already noted. About the camo beret, true that the vintage figure had the proper color for the green beret, the vintage packaging art always had a camo on the beret (artistic license I think from the artist). And I believe that the Hasbro Joe team had the conscious decision/inspiration from the vintage figure artwork. Thanks for comparing the vintage figure with the new 6” figure. Seeing them together I wish Hasbro made the colors and camo a bit more like the vintage figure.
Thank you for the kind words and checking this one out also. It is indeed made for the M-32, because I've never used it prior, I never put the Pulverizer in it. I tried to fit the magazine in off camera, and it damn near bent the mag. So into the accessory box it went lol As for the comparisons, had to be done. I think you're right though, definitely some artistic interpretation in play. And that's fine, I can live with that. Just give us some better suited accessories that are in line with the other retro figures. Because they also like to remind us the Classified line is a future forward interpretation of the classics. So the retros should reflect that.

Regarding his file card info, I'd imagine hasbro felt his being a Gang Warlord didn't age well, as being such was a different thing in the early to mid 1960s (when the original character would have been a teenager) than any time past the mid 80s, when 'gang-banging' became far more about drug selling and far more violent. Even so, if they kept it, his enlisting would make a fantastic redemption story. Any how, as for the figure, yeah...I agree, if it's retro, it should be retro: M16, XMLR etc. I'd have preferred the more solid green beret as well as his suit's colours being darker like the og figure, but there it is; 'correcting' these things is as much a part of the fun for me as getting the figure itself. I agree. They got lazy on this one. Just a straight up repaint. He should have gotten a new head sculpt at least. Retro Snake Eyes new head. Retro Duke new head. Retro Scarlett whole new figure. Should have gotten the M16 and the XMLR rifle instead of the heavy MG. And Retro Dukes holster and pistol. But I'd be interested in your second one if you still get him as Stalker (no sgt here) as he was my very first Joe and I've always had a love for his character. I believe Devils Due had a solo Stalker story in an issue of their Joe Battlelines comic.

I agree with your points on the retro loadout. Could've given him the M16 and laser rifle at very least. Also, I'm starting to feel like all these retros deserve a "Yo Joe" fist/punching fists swap out hands and even a salute. C'mon Hasbro, they're less than a penny to toss in! My other gripe with Stalker (and some others), why the sculpt looks 60+ vs the card art. Thanks for the honest review!
Hey Blitz, thx for watching and the kind words. It's just so obvious at this point that they cut corners on some releases. In this case, no new face sculpt, so why wouldn't they throw in the hands/extra weapons?!? Hasbro exec: "Nah we'll just a throw a whole new paint deco on an existing buck and accessories we already have and that's good enough for these collectors." It's pathetic, dude. I ended up selling my extra, that's all I have to say about that.
He is a good looking figure. Why Hasbro made this stalker face look older is a bummer. They should have made his close as to the super 7 head sculpt it's kinda of a let down but I get one.
good review bro [classified] Stalker was my 1 rst purchase with the mobat in 82, I always loved how he looked black guys look great in uniforms, same for Doc. in my opinion, if you have classified, you don t really want this one. he s not like Duke, where he s 100% better [I got him] he s about on par the bad I agree with your points for the guns - beret and mostly, I expected a much closer look to the cartoon for his face in this version a rare instance where s 7 gets it better than Hasbro. he looks like nothing before, older and angrier than the Stalker I knew. the holster seem unfit for it s purpose... the tint of his uniform is too pale, almost yellow... I prefer mine, but he s a must have for any real fan of the team so now you know... God bless America and world peace! good show bro
Just a lazy, uninspired, cheap, offering. Putting out repaints with no extra value then asking the same price as other retros with more value for money, is a bogus business practice. Shame on Hasbro for acting in such a fashion. And watch, this figure will be available for forever and a day as a result.
@@SharkEyesToyView I think they manage equipment as a whole for the wave, so some figs are bigger, so they cut on another to get even overall. in the end, some figs will be better deals than others. but if you want x fig... it will make no difference, you want it. I don t think it s that bad, as I m fully equipped now, I can 'load' any fig like an army. I store all my weapons and accessories in a box to make sure I can do that easy, thanks!

Wow! I Appreciate the video of retro card back Stalker. He’s definitely one the iconic Joe’s in my opinion. I watched the cartoon as a kid but never owned the toy. I passed on the classified version and ordered the retro card and it looks like I’m in for a nice one!
I’m pleased with the Classified Stalker, and he will remain my Stalker. However, I plan to buy this retro Stalker and turn him into a Jammer custom. Since I recently purchased retro Beachhead, Classified Beachhead has gone back in the box. I will give his red beret to Retro Stalker and find a radio backpack from Falcon or Wolf Spider, for my Jammer custom.

Great review. This is an easy pass for me unless I get it on clearance. I like the character but it is a lazy repaint. They should have done a v2 stalker with the kayak for classified and put someone else for retro. The classified version hit liquidation stores last year. It is tough to justify paying $25 for a repaint of a figure that can easily be had for $12 online (or $5 for those that found him in Ollie’s).
Thanks for the kind words, David. They'll do a v2 Stalker eventually and it will be a deluxe set. When they do, they need to kit it out with the same reverance that they did with Road Pig. Lenny and the team need to firmly keep in mind that every Joe/Cobra character is someone's favourite.
I agree with you. For such an iconic character, they were lazy on this retro. I never liked that face likeness. Doesn't look like Stalker. (Cartoon or comics)
Yup. Bare bones, no effort to kit him out with anything that reflects the comic or cartoon. Just threw some new paint on it and were like "here you go".
The magazine comes out of the mp5 and then the mp5 goes in the backpack case. Magazine goes into the magazine holder on the case. The machine gun is a modified m249 saw. Both weapons have been used by U.S. commandos. And the mp5 matches what he came with originally. So yeah as far as retro Stalker it’s a fine figure. He should have maybe had a back pack instead of a gun case but meh. Who cares? It’s a toy based on an older toy. Matches the cartoon perfect.
You must have missed the part in the review where I referred to the Pulverizer as being his iconic weapon and a fitting inclusion. The SAW may have been employed by the Rangers, but it's never been associated with the character at any point in the lore. It being included was just a throw in, when they could have just as easily included the M-16 or the laser rifle he used in the cartoon. As for caring, you cared enough to watch and respond. So thank you for caring.
I think I'd have preferred a darker brown webbing to the Black they gave him. I think that would have made for a nicer look alongside some other "green guys" who use Brown as an accent as well as not standing out as much as the black does and so ruining the camo. Not a bit deal really, ust something I think would have looked a bit nicer as a figure and not overtly wrong compared to the vintage figure either to go with dark brown. Shame they didn't pick out the webbing with some paint too either.

Totally unsure what you meant about the beret. In the card art The Beret is painted yes on the figure it is not but if you really feel that much about the Beret take the one from the first stalker and put it on the second one

They did so little with this retro. A review just confirms all the reasons why this was such as easy pass for I assume a lot of collectors. It's nice for those wanted this deco, but give retro a bit of a changeup on the weapons, or ditch the machine gun for a JUMP pack and one of Firefly's TNT bundles. Pegwarmers and then direct to discount stores to sell for $5.
WTF on the website he is still on preorder. How the hell do you have it already. I know this is terrible of me but it’s crazy how an American company gets it to other countries first, while American collectors get it last.
Hey Charles, I hear your frustration, but lemme break it down for you. For whatever reason, Hasbro distribution favors all corners of the world at times. For example, the English got the Ferret first, you guys in the States got the VAMP before anyone and then recently Australia saw Wreckage and the Tiger Paw first. Why it's like that? Who knows? But I assure you, everyone wins at one point or another.
Because you Americans kept complaining about “too many figures”, “too many preorders “, “woe is me”. All that moaning and complaining like a menstruating female. Glad they ship them to the countries that don’t complain, first.
Only one is Retro Cobra Commander! Double Dipping on Stalker and cobra officiers might keep me away from them, Especially the Cobra officers for throwing us off with that different blue color!
