This is the bike that introduced me to the channel. In season 1 of the pandemic, I became obsessed with fixed gear. I got the most hacked-together fixed gear I could find for $200 and I loved it. The bike became my daily driver. I patiently watched the second-hand market until I found and bought a reasonably priced all-city fixed gear. Thanks for the inspiration.
This is my video! Got the equivalent Aventon Cordoba new for about what you paid. Really the timing at the end of the fixie trend was key. When the spokes started to break in the rear wheel I rebuilt it with spokes from a crashed wheel taking it from cross 2 to cross 3 pattern. The fun didn't end there, but my Formula hubs now have SKF bearings. That's scratching the surface. It's been a blast that's kept me motivated and riding thousands of miles as my road bike. No trends to chase, no iffy high maintenance components to fail, just fun!
JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS, Eric promised me he would remake his "Fixed Gears as Road Bikes" video riding the Vigorelli, in exchange for me not bringing up a certain history video that he never made (even though he said he would!). So don't let him forget!
Paint. Bright colors. Bright metal cranks and hubs. (and stem and seatpost) The antidote to the make everything flat black to match the carbon fiber frame vibe.
The celeste bar tape irks me also but I know if it gets mentioned Eric will purposefully never swap it out. Like the disc rotor on the tracklocross bike.
I have one I love my cinelli. I balled the fuck out on the build. All the Phil wood and chris king and Paul components and Thompson Sugino things. It’s the envy of every 20 something that works at a bike shop.
I love those stories that go with each and every bike...and of course make them unique. That on top of finding used bikes with absolutely WILD parts you didn't see in the ad, that make it feel like you won the lottery
The OG owner was going to spread the rear triangle, add a hanger + cable guides to a proper track bike?! Madness - even a certified tinkerer like you was like "no, absolutely not". Based on your description of the GXP BB you must love cleaning the dust seals as much as you love cleaning/lubing chains. Great video!!!
I hope you chose the background music on purpose. God. Feels weird to hear that again. Makes me think to back when you'd ride the bike into the shop in the city when you worked there. Back when I only had one oversized road bike and was dreaming of having a bike that'd fit me
Every time you start a video with "Friends!" I think you're shouting my name 😂 Always love seeing your Vigorelli. I had a Specialized Langster that I sold for too little money in 2018 and I miss it dearly!
Lovely video! All bikes have history and its so nice to hear the story one this one. Only thing I would change is the bottom bracket. The GXP BB is terrible. I got a phil wood for 100 bucks and it runs like butter on teflon. I so nearly picked up a steel vigorelli, but went with a Condor steel frame instead. Still love the colour of the vigorelli though.
As fixed gear riding slides back into obscurity and fixie hipsters slide deeper into responsible adulthood I find myself looking forward to some tasty bikes that I wouldn't have been able to afford ten years ago. Does that make me a bad person? (said as he gives an evil chuckle).
I can’t believe someone would want to mangle up a steel frame like that. Mangle up the rear spacing, welding on a bunch of brake bosses, doing weird things with the drivetrain. Changing it from so completely from what it was meant to be. Could you imagine doing that to a perfectly good Hard Rock? I mean… Vigorelli? 😉
The purest bike you can get, closest thing that our forefathers when young would do the Tour de France with one gear!Or live out your Keirin fantasy....
Hi ! I love you’re videos bro 😎👍🏻 I have a question maybe you can help me identify old bike that I bought recently …. It has MBZ record engraved . And on the bottom where serial number is , it only has 4 . 🤔🤔
Like w/ dogs, rescues are the best bikes PS Dude, put a front caliper on the Tracklocross & you've split the difference between the fixie & groad scenes. Trust me it's not a sellout to make a bike more usable in more places while without diminishing the performance one iota. PS, ps also w/ rim brakes you can still run a radial spoked front to get the amazing shodows.
I'm normally super chilled about people doing stuff to their bikes but it incense me WHY ON EARTH WOULD SOMEONE WANT TO DO THAT TO A CINELLI VIGORELLI. I mean they make a road version in the same colour scheme. Did he win it in a raffle?
Love the bike I'd definitely die on a fixed gear over here.. I live in the mountains!! I had a single speed planet x pro carbon that only weighted 8.2kgs by the time I was finished it but that's the closest I'll get to fixed!! 😂 Only thing I'd change on youre cinneli is yellow bar tape!!..
Yeah, I live in Argyll in Scotland, and despite being the perfect candidate for riding a brakeless fixed gear in hilly terrain (1.I'm an eejit 2. I weigh nothing[69kg{nice...}]), It is still an ordeal to actually go anywhere, and I've had dozens of near misses, just counting last year. I could ease the ratio (currently 44-15), but then everywhere takes even longer to get to and I still need to walk up and down that bastard 18% hill at the back of my village... There are fun though!..
@@dalailambda9420 Ya I know how you mean I don't remember the gearing I had but it was definitely a challenge going uphill in the mountains!! Gears are definitely for the hillside!! Ive always ridden Downhill mtbs but cycling a rig on the road here is not fun though so that's why I always had a road bike or two!!
@@atlantic_fishing_pursuits I think the rule of thumb is pick the highest gearing that you can barely make it up your most common climb in, so you can climb but you're still fairly fast on the flatter bits, but then its still grind/slow anywhere hilly, at least a single speed would let you make up some time on the descent. I have beaten roadies with gears on gentle climbs though, you just naturally pedal harder to keep momentum, whilst they drop a cog to keep cadence and go slower. Gears exist for a reason though, I also keep a couple of road bikes for when I actually need to go anywhere/ride with friends!
@@dalailambda9420 Ya for sure mate overtaking Roadies on bikes aswell is fair satisfying, blowing by and knowing they can't keep up!! 😂 Ya that's true too it's definitely better In a heavier gear otherwise you'll only be air pedaling downhill!! I used to ride my dirtjump on the road and that thing was crazy fast due to gearing aswell! Plenty of bikes and I always thought I was alone having a insane amount of bikes but this Eric lad has a great collection too!!
@@atlantic_fishing_pursuits Aye, yer man Eric has wan for for ocht occasion, the odd yin might even work! An he maestly kens whit he's dae'in! Nae matter the bike, if ye just pedal harder, ye'll gang faster!
I both love it and hate it when you are right. Lol. I love it cause what ur saying is true, i hate it cause it gets my head going with all the potential things to do. Lol. I have my eyes at getting my 50$ titanium mtb turned road to something that I really like. But the fact that the first saying is what’s the bike condition right now. Lmfao. Don’t get it right just get it riding,, its gives me calmness that it looks complete but far from perfect than the chaotic energy I get when I see it not on two wheels and everything not installed right. 🤣🤣
Dont get the profile hubs, theyre not worth it, there are plenty better hubs out there, got profiles, the cog and lockring threads are sh*t on these, check Harmony hubs from ukraine.....very light carbon/alu hubs, awesome value👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

This is still blowing my mind 😂 thanks heaps for the shoutout!! 😍❤️ 🤯 real humbling 🙌

Vigorelli vid, I am already hyped.
“Subscribe or I’ll put celeste bar tape on your red-and-yellow fixie.”
The celeste bar tape irks me also but I know if it gets mentioned Eric will purposefully never swap it out. Like the disc rotor on the tracklocross bike.
Like the video or he'll change the fork and put a hydraulic disk wheel up front!
Big fan of toasty rides!
Thank you! 🙌 ❤️
That cinelli build is so sick dude
I wouldn’t change a thing in it
Lol, that conversion sounds like just the sort of thing you do! What did you want to do to a Rockhopper again?

My favorite bike of yours...for now...until it's mine someday. I'm not going to stop trying. 😁
Great advice! Like how "the perfect touring bike is the bike you have," it's always best to get out and ride - so just make the bike work and ride it!
Absolutely! I love that saying
"This isn't just any (insert year) Cinelli Vigorelli, this is my (insert year) Cinelli Vigorelli"
I like this bike. Bravo from Greece...
The weird sound was great it reminded me of the old Clint Eastwood westerns.

nice build
I'm enjoying the current brought to you by range of off the cuff sponsor without knowing sponsors
I'm right there with you about those deep HEAD wheels. I want those big bright decals because I love seeing my wheels spin
Every time you start a video with "Friends!" I think you're shouting my name 😂
Always love seeing your Vigorelli. I had a Specialized Langster that I sold for too little money in 2018 and I miss it dearly!
My name is always Brent. How tha hell did ya get that user name??
great music
Big ups to ya boy Toasty Rides
She's a beauty, glad it didn't get hacked up with ridiculous mods, I love the idea of fixed gear, but no breaks scare the crap out of me
That is a clean bike ! 400$ wow ! Keep it as it is it looks cool.
remember the silver fixed gear, remember the purple khs but this is literally my dream bike! i’ll find one someday
Lovely bike!!! I would love to have a multi-gear Cinelli with that sort of paint job, so I'm off to check the for sale ads!
Italian bikes are just cool, that one is no exception.
There's a reason for every detail, why Bianchi Celeste tape?

I was thinking of getting one of those Cinelli tuttis they seem very versatile
Love the bike brother! I have a 78 Masi track frame that I take out every blue moon. Not man enough to flip the hub though.

Funny enough, the guy that wanted to conduct cruel experiments on that bike actually sounds like quite the tinkerer.
You need a pedal sponsor!
I’m in your Channel because of this bike
What helmet are you rocking ?

nice ride but what happened to the Ripper ?
This is the same love i give to my shark
Riding it do you want to yell " Papa!! The Italians are coming!!"
You were dropping movie lines so....
nice bikes on wheels hoodie! 👊👊
No disc conversion planned for this one?!
You still have the Stites? Any plans for that bike?
Freiburger is a wise man indeed!

can i fit a normal road bike rim brake front wheel in the front? or i have to change the hub and spokes
Sooooo bike packing on fixed gear bikes is what you’re saying?

Dont mind my ignorance but is the frame considered too small for him? The stem and seat-post are both long and high. 😅
Seats not really that high but I do love a long stem!
pretty sure you can get that colorway as a road frameset lol
Eric you gotta stop the subscriber threats that we actually want to see...
I want them to bring back the omniums with a dub spindle sooooo baaaaaaaaad!
Is it just me that read the title of this video in the style of "My Adidas" by Run DMC 😂
I'm just here for the between the legs shot @ 3:13
i want one
Would be an awesome new sticker... Don't get it right, just get it running.
Man, please make the video about F1 and Fixed Gear Crits LOL
