  • Today we'll unbox and review a Gunderson 5188cf Hopper ScaleTrains in their Rivet Counter line. This is in a HypoTypical scheme of BNSF / Great Northern Heritage, which means that the paint scheme is not prototypical for this model (still looks great!). This is part of the 5th run of these hoppers, delivered in Sept 2024.
I also compare this model to an older run Operator series UP Gunderson hopper. The main differences are the lack of additional separately-applied details.

Thanks for the good review. I especially liked seeing what the differences are between the Rivet Counter and the Operator versions. I purchased the NS "Hypotypical" Rivet Counter" version since I liked the looks of the car and have no idea what the differences are between a Trinity and Gunderson hopper.

Thank you! I was hoping the comparison would help people see some of the differences between the Rivet Counter and Operator versions since I haven't seen too many comparisons done
