Bishop Willie Stringer, 89, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. He was born in Andalusia, Alabama on December 13, 1929 to William “Mr. Bill” and Alva Mae (Curry) Stringer. He was the eldest of four children; Willie, Ernest Terry, Lillian Leota and Ritha Mae. Bishop Stringer was the Pastor Emeritus of The Bible Way Temple Nation in Hartford, CT.
He leaves behind a very large family to celebrate his life with love and memories. He is survived by his four sons; Bishop Martin L. Stringer and his wife Terry of Spring, TX; Apostle Terry A. Stringer and his wife Renee of East Hartford, CT; Evangelist Kevin A. Stringer and his wife Marguerite also of East Hartford, CT; Vincent Dion Stringer of Baltimore, MD; and a sister, L. Elaine Stringer of New Britain, CT; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Anderson Stringer of Meriden, CT and Joann Stringer of Springfield, MA; a sister, Ritha Mae Watkins, two half-brothers, Joe Ralph Stringer of Rochester, NY and William Curtis Stringer of Atlanta, GA; including his 33 beloved grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren, an honorary grandson, Zerrell Stallings; and a host of extended family members, friends;. He was predeceased by his wife, Mother Dorothy Mae Horton Stringer; three sons, William Lorenzo Stringer, Ronald Adrian Stringer and Patrick Lamar Stringer; and a daughter, Bernetta Shawan Lamar.
Family and Friends will celebrate his life on Sunday, November 10, 2019; Friendship Hour: 6-7 PM and Celebration of Life: 7 PM at the Bible Way Temple Nation, 3053 Main Street, Hartford, CT. Interment, Monday, November 11, 2019 at 10 AM at Mountain View Cemetery; 30 Mountain Ave; Bloomfield, Connecticut, 06002.
