FYI i unsubbed because you added music. Its annoying, makes it hard to hear you and I just don't want to hear music in a informative video. I hope you either stop adding music or stop making videos. Best of luck
Owners must be really lucky to have someone who is so knowledgeable and passionate about their job. Glad you get to make these videos and educate the mass public on pool safety.
Been rebuilding pumps for the last 20+ years. Good job. A couple of suggestions, get a three jaw puller to remove the bearings. I also use a little bit of silicone grease (in a tube) on the shaft when installing the seal. The grease makes it slide easier and when the seal goes to seat, it will allow the spring to apply proper tension against the hard face. Don't forget the never-seize for the bolts.
Thank you for the advice sir. Pullers for sure. We use on the big motors ND shafts for sure. And of course, gotta Lube the shift. I did for reinstalling the new parts.
If those bearings are regular roller bearings they won't take a thrust load too well. A flanged taper roller type may work better. Also if you were using a polyurea for the motors and mix w a lithium it can turn into a clay. Something I've done...Fun to watch this channel.👏🏼
dude your passion for your job, is simply amazing and inspiring to watch bro! your bosses and the owner's of the water park, should be proud to have even a hard worker like you.... on there roster! you have always seemed very educational in every single video produced! anyone to be that instructive must be a god at there job! every video so far... that you said you was gonna make. Has turned into being an amazing journey. Most of the people in the united states... don't really understand what it takes to do a job like this, and when you do the job, the community doesn't see what's going on in the closed season behind the fence! your a very instructional guide... to a very unique interest that we all love and enjoy! I work 2 jobs to support my family, when i come home... i get excited to actually see if you have a new video out or not! just a sensational channel mate! Thanks for doing what you do, and thanks for keeping waterparks safe for family's to enjoy! your simply amazing guy!
I work in the pool industry as well and it pays to have experience in mechanics. I'm an automotive tech and it's helped me wonders working on the mechanical side of things.
Love your vids! Gonna second the comment about dialing back the background music while you're speaking. Also the wide shot of you unbolting the pump could have benefitted from a timelapse/speed up or more editing.
The video quality seemed perfectly fine to me, lower volume on the background music would be much appreciated though. Love the content either way! A fan of AvE is a fan on mine 😂🤙
Thanks for sharing! Is there some sort of drain that prevents that concrete hole the pump is sitting in from filling up with water if the seal were to fail? I assume if water got in that motor it would be a problem x)
Hey, I love the videos. I personally have some hearing issues that make it difficult to isolate your voice from music tracks, and it would be much easier to hear if when you are speaking there isn’t background music playing.
Would be nice to see a residential river flow used for pt in a pool. Alternately it can be used as a in pool slide ride. Two sides curved and pushing water through enough you can walk against current. Just need a home and pool!
@@thepoolguy awesome, love that safety is such a high priority for yall. I noticed that when you were cutting the bearing race off. Its Nice to see the commercial/industrial side of things as i just do residential maintenance
Is the part under the water where the shaft goes into not some sort of bearing? That shaft looks badly scored, maybe getting excessive resistance from it causing premature failure?
Those auto-greasers are meant to supply the ongoing 'maintenance dose' of grease. At install, the bearing still needs it's 'initial dose' (from a grease gun), then let the auto-greaser keep it topped up on an ongoing basis.
Look for a thrust bearing to help with the vertical loading the prop creates or check the bushing isn't worn allow the shaft bearing to absorb the load. 1 of those two will solve your problem. I assume the possibility of a bent shaft has already been eliminated.
Just my opinion, the music is fine, just needs to be brought down somewhere between 30-50% in volume. Heck even 75% with commentary while your working would be pretty cool, but that adds alot of work to the video. Keep it up though, love this channel.
You should think about getting yourself one of those battery operated impact drills. It would make it much faster when you need to take stuff like this apart. They'd make it faster to put back together too. The music is way too loud.
Uncle Bumblefuc. I don’t know anything about this kind is work, but I know some bearings are designed to only work in a horizontal or vertical orientation. Just a thought.
Buy a nice hydraulic press 5ton and a nice torch to heat the bearing a little bit. Then force it off with the press. It's way faster and way easier then grinding it off, and also less change of damaging the axle.
Your "editing music" (DX7 FM Synth pad) covered some of your voice describing the pulled impeller. Foot isn't sure you need music to cover time-lapse or other sections as this appears to be a good technical video. However, if you choose to move forward with music, make sure it ducks under your VO. Otherwise! Thanks for posting. Always wanted to know how a waterpark is maintained. Inside scoop!
Glad you got the face reveal over with so now you can do these time-lapse videos. I enjoy them just as much as your narrated videos, but turn down the music please! :)
Okay I do pool service work in Chicago Illinois, we obviously have to shut down and winterize outdoor pools cause it’s gonna get below freezing for and extended period of time, why does your park and other water parks in Texas not run year round I thought you guys have warm weather year round?
A lot (all) pools/water parks nationwide rely heavily (entirely) on cheap labor (life guards and food service) from high school and college students who are readily available in the summer months when they are out of school. And just because it isn’t freezing doesn’t mean people want to go to water park.
I bet the longevity of the bearing has not increased by the change in grease type. Your bearing is not sitting perpendicular to the shaft, you can see this after the new bearing is installed when you spin the plate it is attached to starting at 17:20 in the video. This will cause the shaft to wobble, you can see evidence of this on the bottom of the shaft at 18:28 with all the scaring. I would think a closer examination of the housing the shaft sets in will show wear on it as well.
Hey Team, I apologize for the shaky video, I have a new camera and I guess I messed up the stabilization setting. I will do better next time...
....and apparently I still need to work on audio balancing, please forgive me, I'm a pool guy, not a video editing specialist.
Still enjoying the video! And the quality is great. Keep it up!

AYE? DID YOU SAY SOMETHING SONNY??
I love how you have the official green freeze pop stool. 2 guys sat and enjoyed a tasty treat while watching you work, lol!

I don't normally complain. But that Music and timelapse was excruciating to watch. Still fascinating to see how you run the water park.
