+Jeremy Jahns holy shit didn't think you'd reply lol... you mention this was Disney's answer to Fan4stic... come on bro even DISNEY has more self respect than to make this lol
wait, wait, wait. You're saying that Hook does *NOT* lose his hand to the crocodile even though the crocodile can be seen in the trailer for the film? *HOW DO YOU GET AWAY WITH SUCH A THING?* You can't even call it a Peter Pan film after that.
+Mandrid Hugh The OPENING NARRATION made it sound like we were going to see Hook turn evil, he used a HOOK in the mines, and then we didn't see ANYTHING related to him going that way. It was disappointing, man.
And I'm willing to bet you, there's going to be a TV ad somewhere that's going to be all like "CRITICS ARE CALLING PAN THE #1 BLOCKBUSTER OF THE YEAR!"Just watch, it's going to happen.
The Presidential Perkolator Some bad movies have used quotes. But indeed, if a movie doensn't even use quotes, that's the narrator's code way of saying "You viewers out there better not have the gall to go see this awful movie, you're better off throwing yourself off a cliff down below to land on pointy rocks"
I did and for me the best adaptation from J.M. Barrie's book so far. The director J.P. Hogan really knew how to capture the essence of Peter Pan, even on the dark side of story.
+s bushido You can put it together. Even if the tape was cut you can glue that back. You'll miss a few frames but it'll work. I did that all the time when pornos used to get stuck and I had to retrieve them before my parents came back from work. Ahh. Good times.
+TheLennyLegoShow pixar isnt, they made inside out, an original and creative movie, and better yet, it was outstanding. And the good dinosaur is coming in like a month. Put your faith in them, they really deserve it
Bluetycon9 There are acceptions, thankfully yes, Inside Out was one of Pixar's redemptive films (aside From Monster U, Pixar's most underrated film yet). So glad it didn't follow Cars 2 and Brave, although Cars 3 is supposed to come out. CRAP. But hey, Incredibles 2.
+Steve Govea i love hook, but one scene that really makes it work for me was dustin hoffman and bob hoshkins as hook and smee going off like a married couple, where hook is preparing to shoot himself in melancholy and then demands Smee stop him.
+Mckenzie .Latham Indeed, Hook gives us a rather in depth look into the iconic villain of this fairytale, humanizes him and you can wind up sympathizing with Hook. He is in a sense in purgatory due to being trapped in Neverland where nothing seems to change.
Shame that this movie is being panned. It seems like it didn't hook you in. Looks like it'll never land with an audience. When watching it I think he was lost, boys.
+Vercalos al'Corlin I re-watched that movie recently. Major problems. That being said, it was not nearly as bad as critics said when it first came out. I at least see effort in that movie.
Where is the super dark re-imagining of Wizard of Oz, with Dorothy, being a bad ass country commando, with Toto... the German shepherd by her side.. all snarly?
"Toto, I think we're not in Texas anymore" The tinman could be a Cyborg and the Wicket Witch a guy from the Middle East. "I'm here to chew bubblegum and follow a golden path, and I'm all out of gum"
I know you asked about 'Hook' but I just wanted to give a shoutout to the 2003 'Peter Pan' movie. THAT was a pretty great live-action adaptation, and having watched it within the past year IMO I think the special effects still hold up. It was also pretty dark and "adult" in some areas (Hook killing his crew, the implied and very weird/uncomfortable tension between Hook and Wendy, Hook's torment of Peter in the end fight, etc.) so it has a lot of rewatch value as you get older. Definitely worth checking out if anybody hasn't seen it yet.
Just like most people who kids in the 90s, I grew up loving Hook. I use to own the VHS. I saw the movie for only $5 at Target and will buy it so I can watch it with my daughter.
why the fuck is no one talking about Peter Pan 2003? It was and still is the best version of fuckin peter pan! If you haven't watched it then fucking watch it now! thank me later
DORBUSCUS Hook was just a spinoff/sequel (for lack of a better word). It wasn't actually the story of Peter Pan. So.. it doesn't really make sense to compare it to the 2003 version of the actual story.
My favorite version of Peter Pan is hand's down Robbie Kay's take on the character in Once Upon A Time. It was so refreshing to see my childhood as a downright evil villain.
JFairy I thought Robbie Kay's take was unlike anything I've ever seen before. The guy was a complete villain that spreads chaos and misery, and looked damn good while doing it. Not only was it fresh, it felt like a radically different character while still maintaining the roots and background.
jon sneeu What I loved about that version of Pan was how different he was from the mainstream. The mainstream version is usually a playful, tricky and mischevious little kid who usually just tries to defend himself and his friends from Captain Hook. While the OUAT version was a dark, twisted and devious little demon that literally scared the living daylights out of Hook. Not to mention how he just liked to fuck around with everyone around him and still end up coming out on top. It was totally unexpected.
+Ms. Service it's got to the point I watch reviews and then enjoy looking through the comment section to see you telling Jeremy to watch it...I know, i'm a sad, sad person who is easily amused.

+Kenny Simoen Understandable, because it is a fun film on the surface, but honestly, you're one of a very small, select group of people that liked this movie.
I am a crazy Peter Pan fan. Crazy to the point I've seen and read everything that had him on, even if I knew it was not gonna be good. Peter and Neverland is to me what Harry Potter is to others(i love harry too,but not in the same way) I grew up with Peter, Hook was the first non-disney movie I ever watched, plus the first movie I saw in english(im greek, so i couldn't understand a thing, loved every minute of it, still do). When the Pan trailer came out, I almost cried. My favorite director directed it(is that even a sentence?). I found the trailers epic. The fact that they are neither for kidz nor for adults is something that made it even more special to me. I know all the trailers by heart and I've been waiting for the movie to be released for what seemed like ages! In Greece, it will get on cinemas at the 22nd. I have marked that day as one of the most important days of the year. I really need to love this movie, I am going to be an adult in a few months and I am petrified by the idea. I want to grow up and all, but I never thought I would... for some reason, I always thought he would show up in my window. I believed in him, truly. I still kind of do. I am not stupid. I just cannot not believe... I am afraid to go to the cinema when the day comes. Considering how unconditionaly I love him, will I like this movie?
+Corey Pack Those are some great details. I myself aspire to become a film maker and producing a movie about Peter had always been one of my greatest goals! I have also put a lot of thought into it. Your version sounds quite interesting, while a bit familiar in the "older wendy narrating" part as it is similar to the 2003 version... But you made a great point about character development. I feel like there is none in this movie and from the trailer Peter's acting seemed a bit weak. I am really looking forward for the next Peter Pan take. In another 10 years maybe. I could quite possibly be involved in the production, you as well. I know it sounds dreamy, but if you work hard, dreams come true.
Cruella Deville is getting one. Good luck with turning a puppy murderer into an angel. But hey, if even Maleficent the mistress of ALL evil can be goody goody, nothing is impossible.
I love Hook. Such an under appreciated gem! Robin Williams was the only actor who could play Peter Pan as an adult, because with him, you felt like he had this child-like innocence. And he brought that to practically every role he played.
avoid this movie at all cost. it's not even worth a redbox rental when it's released. probably the worst movie I've seen in years. same yourself from the torture of that hell.
Hook is one of my all time favorite movies. I don't really believe it too much, but my mother said I loved Hook so much I learned how to operate the VCR at 2 years old and watched Hook over and over again. I can't see a 2 year old doing that, but at the same time she never lied. It's been my number one child hood movie ever and it's aged well, I still love it to this day.
Loved hook! It had a lot of good humor and drama in it. I also felt that the moral about "youth is in the soul" was incredible contrast to the original tale, making it like Peter is freed from his earlier expectations that growing old will destroy him, a trait that the original could never realize. This movie however...
And when you can say that an animated tinker bell movie about a pirate fairy did hook better than your billion dollar blockbuster then you really need to rethink your life lol
You know despite watching Hook a lot growing up and seeing the disney film once or twice my favourite Peter Pan film would probably have to be the 2003 one, I really liked that movie!
Man, how do you mess something up when you go darker and more edgy with it? That shows how much many of these movie makers and companies suck these days to where the original content ends up being better than the modern remake even though the modern remake had a lot of money put into it, effects from our modern day, and time put into it that had the original to pull from to make it better. That's just sad. And it's some of these same companies that get money thrown at them to do things when there are others out there that could have made a better movie at a fraction of the cost probably. I'm still trying to figure out why they put it in live action. If you're going to change a children's cartoon and still make it for children, put it in 3D or something. Sheesh.
The one movie with no character development other then he flips a coin and turns genocidal?? Suicide Squad will fit the dark mold well but man of steel needed competent writers and directors.
+The Cinema Cowboy I liked Man of Steel,I didn't like the darkening butit fit well.I already got to know Clark Kent in the flashbacks.I know the movie has problems but it was still good to me.
+KingGolDragon At least Marvel's Phase One didn't have any pretentions of presenting a "super smart and realistic take" of their characters (with the exception of Iron Man which was admittedly the only Phase One film I liked). Y'know. when in actuality, Man of Steel was as dumb and ridiculous as the worst Marvel film.
He was recently here in Mexico on a tour to promote the movie. He went to the street markets and ate the best tacos of the city. There were some photos, everybody talked about what he thought of em. NO ONE talked about the movie. Not even him. So my guess is: No
+The Epic Gamer he was ok, he didn't come close to saving the movie, and the pirates all chanting pop song lyrics was REALLY distracting, yeah, as has been mentioned in some other reviews, the first time they get to neverland all the pirates are chantsinging 'smells like teen spirit' by nirvana, also, spoiler alert, the reason blackbeard wants the fairy dust is because it keeps him young, this is established in one throwaway scene.
Folks thought this was as the lowest live-action adaptation of Peter Pan? Disney is like, "hold my failure" with the new one out. Can't wait for you to eviscerate it, Jeremy. BTW, this one still is not a good on either.
Hook had a romance with Tiger Lily in this movie? Isn't she too young for him, by like... decades? And about Hook, the actual movie, I never liked it, even when it first came out and I was little. Best Peter Pan movie for me is the 2003 one, it's the closest one to the original book.
There aren't many Jeremy Jahns videos where I don't pause it halfway through just to click like. That Pan pun hooked me. You sir, earned yet another up vote.
I'm going to be THAT person only cause Disney deserves it... WARNER BROS did this to Pan... NOT Disney. there
+TheMRStudio What movie? I literally don't remember...
+Jeremy Jahns holy shit didn't think you'd reply lol... you mention this was Disney's answer to Fan4stic... come on bro even DISNEY has more self respect than to make this lol

+Álvaro Hernández I'm here all week XD

No mention of Hugh Jackman singing Nirvana?
That's too fucked up! :D
+Nitromian No that was awesome.
+Erik Perez Would have been better if it was an original musical set in a post-apocalyptic world, as for Pan..... eh.....
+Adrijana Radosevic Well, it helps that there is a guy rocking on a guitar that spits fire while on and big vehicle on the road.
+Adrijana Radosevic What a musical! WHAT A LOVELY MUSICAL!
Pan should have been renamed Can as in, "Can I watch something more interesting?"

+ImploreYouto Reconsider They showed kids being forced to walk the plank into a 100-foot drop. I think they lost that excuse.
+Mandrid Hugh Because they are going to try to make this a trilogy. but i cant see it happening after this shitfest.
TheStephano619 I'm sincerely hoping it goes the way of M. Night Shamylan's Last Airbender sequel.

peter pan 2003 is okay... the best bit I liked about it is that Jason Isaacs plays Hook and the father it was a lovely touch to the story...

Hook is far better than that one
DORBUSCUS Hook was just a spinoff/sequel (for lack of a better word). It wasn't actually the story of Peter Pan. So.. it doesn't really make sense to compare it to the 2003 version of the actual story.

My favorite version of Peter Pan is hand's down Robbie Kay's take on the character in Once Upon A Time. It was so refreshing to see my childhood as a downright evil villain.

Shaun was amazing! :D

Move on he's not reviewing it.
+Ms. Service it's got to the point I watch reviews and then enjoy looking through the comment section to see you telling Jeremy to watch it...I know, i'm a sad, sad person who is easily amused.
+Ms. Service HAHA good point man, let Jeremy know to the core.
I didn't have a problem with Darth Vader being a chosen one. There are worse cases of chosen ones like Naruto.
Considering me and my good friends have seen all the BS Naruto has given, we are well in our rights to condemn that overrated series.
No Dragonball is legendary and has earned its place. I don't watch or read Bleach, so I can't speak for it. And even though I've only seen almost 400 episodes of One Piece it is still better written than Naruto.
No. A good critic judges a series on a whole. And Naruto is awful. Also I repeat I don't watch or read Bleach.
I don't care if you like it. You're free to do so, but that doesn't make it good. And Naruto still hasn't ended since it still has Boruto.
That would be great, because I don't want him to continue the story. It should have ended years ago.
this movie just kept getting worse and worse... it was just like jumping out of the kettle, into the frying PAN.
MUH NAMES JAMES HUCK
I was never convinced this was James Hook
The pain in his voice when he says "pan..." Oh boy I know I'm in for a treat!
Peter Pan the 2003 version was better than Hook. Boom. I went there.
Not to mention, that Peter Pan movie that came out in like 2003/2004 was also pretty good.
i lowkey love that movie
3:01 "Nooone of that shit happens!" LMAO. My thoughts exactly.
3:08 "None of that shit happened" had me dying 😂
"Pannn" ~ Jeremy Jahns
The way he said that was hilarious! He sounded like his spirit just died, along with his nostalgia!
Sounds like Jeremy really PANNED this movie
I do not understand why people are trashing this movie so much. It's not that bad as some reviewers say. Yes it could have been better and yes the story is not always 100% thought trough. But overall I actually enjoyed watching this movie.

+The Vagabond: lol, you douchebag.
Pan got panned

+MrSwadloon Finally someone that uses that phrase. I've been saying that since i saw this review for the first time.
You want a good live action reimagining of Peter Pan? Watch the 2003 version.
I know! It's the best film retelling of this story and people always forget about it. Even Jeremy went straight to Hook.
Yeah.....but Hook is still awesome.

+Michael Ray Martinez what you did there, i see it
+CraigAA1028 you nailed that Hook line and sinker
I feel ya. I'm willing to overlook the critics and watch it as the die hard, devoted fan I am. I'm just a bit scared of being disappointed.
JFairy me too!!!! I really want to love this movie!! I need to!!
Me and my toddler love this movie, its not that bad actually and we can't wait for the sequel!
jermys impression of captain James hook is priceless 😂😂😂😂😂😂
How many more disney cartoon films are going to be sullied by awful live action adaptations/prequels/sequels?
this isn't a disney movie it's warner bros
heh, can't wait for live action film of The Secret of NIMH. (and yes, that is a thing... just, why?)
+Tony Davis (Battlion50) are you for real?? Nooooooooo
Cruella Deville is getting one. Good luck with turning a puppy murderer into an angel.
But hey, if even Maleficent the mistress of ALL evil can be goody goody, nothing is impossible.
+Mick Hofmeijer he never said it was Disney he said how many Disney cartoons would be ruined like this
This wasn't Disney
Thank you
warner brothers that's why it sucked
@@budnot5284 yeah I don't know why they took a stab at this
I love Hook. Such an under appreciated gem! Robin Williams was the only actor who could play Peter Pan as an adult, because with him, you felt like he had this child-like innocence. And he brought that to practically every role he played.
I have not seen pan but now I'm glad I did not. I had high hopes for this potential trilogy.
It's a good movie... Don't just take his word for it. Cultivate ur own opinion
+Toro Hill Dodged a bullet there.
+ashley langlois I mean...its not just him, everyone is saying this movie blows......
avoid this movie at all cost. it's not even worth a redbox rental when it's released. probably the worst movie I've seen in years. same yourself from the torture of that hell.
+Nefi Jared Sosa García Pretty much. lmao
It was made by Warner Brothers
We didn't need another Peter Pan movie...we didn't need another Peter Pan anything really.
"my name's james hook" I loled so hard
hook kicks ass
Yeah hook kicked ass in every other Peter Pan movie.
The whole ''Hook being/acting good at first'' was done better in the Tinker Bell Pirate movie.
I know right?
And when you can say that an animated tinker bell movie about a pirate fairy did hook better than your billion dollar blockbuster then you really need to rethink your life lol
+Ashley Moure vs Tinker Bell: Dawn of Moures
+Midnight Navigator It was better in every movie that did that but this one.
I think we can all agree that the 2003 Peter Pan was the best.
The best Peter Pan movie ever.
You know despite watching Hook a lot growing up and seeing the disney film once or twice my favourite Peter Pan film would probably have to be the 2003 one, I really liked that movie!
it IS rather AWESOME.
I LOVE Jason Isaacs as Hook & Mr. Darling. nice touch mimicking the play having them be the same actor.
+LazyOtakuAnimeReactions NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
rockomcknight you don't like it?
Aaron Nicewonger No, I hate it.
+rockomcknight
hehe. Fair enough.
how come?
Sheesh.
Pan Jesus? wasn't that a continent?
Pangaea. But okay😂
I hate unnecessary darkening of characters like this and Fant4stic.I even have a problen with the DCCU,but not that much because that movies was good.
Haha fuck yeah lol. Though MOS has some incredible action quality but the writing and story does suck
+Bryan Leong If people are gonna make things dark, they should keep in enough lightness to compliment it.
Names James Hook! :F
I miss Robin Williams.
You really HOOKed me in with that review, unfortunately the movie didnt PAN out.
Was Hugh Jackman good in this movie?
He was recently here in Mexico on a tour to promote the movie. He went to the street markets and ate the best tacos of the city. There were some photos, everybody talked about what he thought of em. NO ONE talked about the movie. Not even him.
So my guess is: No
+The Epic Gamer Yeah he was good!
VERY GOOD! He saved the movie.
"He's stealing third!"
BAM!
Hook is so good. I'm going to go watch it right now.
It is still good.
NAYMES JAYMES *HUCK*
"The name's James Hook." I died. XD
Hook was pretty good although maybe just because of Robin Williams
Dustin Hoffman as Hook dude!!! He was amazing!!!!
Two words for ya:
Bangerang
+twon 1610 (Big T) and John CENA
+twon 1610 (Big T) cenarang?
+The Cinema Cowboy Agreed. Dustin Hoffman is Hook. It was so weird seeing that wig fly off in the end.
Folks thought this was as the lowest live-action adaptation of Peter Pan?
Disney is like, "hold my failure" with the new one out.
Can't wait for you to eviscerate it, Jeremy.
BTW, this one still is not a good on either.
"So giluys, have you seen it? Wha? No, you didn't. I uh, no one saw this movie." That whole line made me laugh more than it should've xD
Hook had a romance with Tiger Lily in this movie? Isn't she too young for him, by like... decades? And about Hook, the actual movie, I never liked it, even when it first came out and I was little. Best Peter Pan movie for me is the 2003 one, it's the closest one to the original book.
It's 2:30 Jeremy go to bed
Different time zones
+Hammington DC What are you talking about? It´s 8:00 am ;)
Eastern time zone I see
it's only 12:21 am for me.
Hook is 1 of my favorite childhood movies, still have it on my Sega CD too!
damn i be early af lol Jeremy do you ever comment back to your fans???
+Six_Six_Sick No.
+Jeremy Jahns I knew it, you never reply, you said it yourself, boom caught!
+Jeremy Jahns +Six_Six_Sick God Dammit Jeremy
+Jeremy Jahns Jeremy when are you reviewing series 3 of Sherlock. Pls it's been so long :(
+Jeremy Jahns Darn it Jeremy :(
"Guys in the end Pan sucks. It was terrible". The type of review I wanted to hear. Thanks Jeremy.
There aren't many Jeremy Jahns videos where I don't pause it halfway through just to click like. That Pan pun hooked me. You sir, earned yet another up vote.
Warner Bros, good job. Green lighting this piece of shit.
+Jia L. Wait, this is warner bros' movie? Isn't peter pan a Disney character?
Hook Was And Is Fantastic
Peter Pan 2003 was so an overlooked masterpiece.
I didnt like hook
+Riley Riley you don't have a heart.
It's ok neither did I lol it had good concepts I really just couldn't get into Dustin Hoffman as hook. He dragged the movie down for me.
But you like Book
at least tried to be good but I do agree with you
Why do you watch movies then
Thank you, I just saved myself $50. I was going to watch it tomorrow but deep down I knew this was gonna suck
+\Nexturz/ $50 for a movie ?????? I'm I missing something here lol
+GF SirJames - Gamerfuzion He was probably going with someone. Plus tickets are expensive af for movies nowadays.
The tickets aren't that expensive for only 2 people, it's the damn food man.
I always bring my own food lol
\Nexturz/ True, but I agree, the food hits the hardest lol. That's why I started bringing my own food and pay for drinks there.
That Pan joke at 3:45! LOL!!!!
This movie is clearly dog shit. Review hook then. :D :D :D :D :D
+Primož Lončar yes pls!
Why not the 2003 film? Barely anyone touches it for some reason.
+HonorAmongScars the 2003 version was easily the best live action version to date. Very underrated film
Joseph it wasn't underrated!!! Is just forgotten now... Because is a little old..
