    • @spidermonkey7999
      @spidermonkey7999  4 года назад +6

      Floof Dragon the tank itself was about 800. Including the acrylic and liquid rubber. The rest I probably have around 2000 in filtration. Which most of that is the 2 bubble magus b12 skimmers I’m running. I also have the auto aqua automatic water change setup x2 for my water changes and auto top off. They ran me about 800 after I upgraded to the bigger pumps. Another 1000 in my rodi setup and holding tank. About 6000 in live stock.

    • @spidermonkey7999

      Antonio Norton yes, I built it out of plywood. The acrylic was about 250.00 the liquid rubber and extra stuff to seal ran about 400. The tank really didn’t cost that much to build. The filtration is what cost the most. The tank was time consuming. Several weeks to build.

      Izzy H Hi, there are a couple of things I would have done different but I’m still happy with my outcome. I used liquid rubber everything, coating, seam tape, textile tape. Make sure u use all cabinet great lumber. Buy as much liquid rubber as u think u can afford and put more coats on than u think u need. I also went over every seam with several layers of seam tape just overlapping each one. I had to trial and error my bracing. But u will need more than u think. Other than that it’s really just time consuming. I can’t remember what I used on the front panel to get it to seal to the rubber. It was 3m marine something. Also seam taped the crap out of it.

    • @spidermonkey7999
      @spidermonkey7999  Год назад

      Our house burned down in November so I no longer have the tank unfortunately. Honestly this was one of the easiest tanks I’ve ever owned. I prepared very well for about a year on this thing. I was on a well so I didn’t have a water bill just a little bit more in electric and I own a restaurant so the seafood bill wasn’t to bad also lol. I had a 300 (if I remember right) gpd unit with a booster pump. A 125 gallon holding tank right behind the shark tank to mix the water. A 50 gallon ro top off tank below that. I had it plumed in a way that it was very easy to do and I used auto aqua automatic water change system with bigger pumps to do the water changes (awesome system once you dial it in) 100 gallon water changes in about 30 minutes. 2 200 gallon boxes of reef crystals a month. I had planned on doing the sump setup video and what not but never got around to it. I was running 2 bm-b12 bubble magus skimmers in a 100 gallon stock tank for the bio load. I’ve always been a water change guy instead of dosing. This was a very happy tank for the 3 or 4 years I had it. Also was an extremely fun tank to watch and surprisingly easy tank to take care of, still missing it.

  • @choopa7290
    @choopa7290 Год назад

    I can understand that these animals are very fascinating to us. While all here about the aquarium, its dimensions and technology congratulate you, who looks at the animals? I don't see any scientific aspect that comes out of watching the animals in such an aquarium, except for the congratulations in terms of "Wow, what a big tank". Do you know how big the natural territory of sharks and rays is? Your aquarium may be very large for "us". But, it offers absolutely nothing that could represent the natural habitat of these animals. It is a torture for these animals to swim permanently in circles. Baby or not, where do the animals go when they get bigger? Did you release the animals into the wild?
    If you look a little closer, you will notice that they are looking for an exit. Ask yourself what would happen if the shark or the ray locked you in a glass box, with only a sofa and a carpet, and a fan. How long would you last?
    Please think about it again, maybe I can make you change the perspective a little bit, and you might do something good ;)
    If you want to see sharks, go snorkeling, scuba diving.... If you want an aquarium, well then create a sea of plants with thousands of colors and shapes, but please don't let animals swim in circles for your pleasure. Even more so in a sterile aquarium of water, sand and a few dead corals, just because you can ;)
    And now: Happy downvoting my comment, which does not fit at all into the picture of congratulations ;)

    What are you going to do once the Leopard Sharks outgrow the tank? They're inevitably going to exceed 4ft, so I can't see how it'll be practical or humane to keep them in a tank of that size.
