    hey rachel!!
    my question is how youve managed to foster during covid, we tried to reach out to cats protection but understandably they were super closed off :/

    • @RachelClare
      @RachelClare  4 года назад

      Oh that’s a shame! I think they’ve just been in a difficult situation as no face to face contact has been allowed. Now that the lockdown is easing tomorrow, it might be worth contacting them again or your local RSPCA as it is kitten season right now!

    How long do you usually have the kittens? They are so cute 😍

    • @RachelClare
      @RachelClare  3 года назад +2

      It depends on their age and health but usually anywhere between 3 weeks to 3 months!

    2 questions,
    1. Would this be something a 12 year old could do? (A very responsible 12 year old)
    2. Would this be a good compromise… let me explain; my cat passed away and I really wanted another one, but my dad said no… then I learned about fostering, and I’m wondering if it could be a good compromise so I still get to love on cats, but I don’t have the 10+ year commitment to a pet. Thank you!

      As long as the kittens were at least 6 weeks old I think it’s definitely something a responsible 12 year old could do🙂 You would have to have an adult be the formal named fosterer and just check everything’s ok day to day but essentially you could do most of the looking after. They do need the odd trip to the vets for vaccinations but you could do the majority of the looking after them at home. We started fostering because I wanted a kitten but my mum couldn’t afford another cat as well as the 3 we already had and a dog! Just bear in mind that it’s very hard to give them away but it’s also very rewarding to know that you’ve helped some kittens in need and then they can go to their forever homes😀 you never know your dad might fall in love with one and keep it lol it’s hard not to!

      @@RachelClare thank you!! I have always wanted to do bottle babies, or moms and kittens... some population of newborns. maybe I'll just postpone that until I'm a little older. thank you for your advice!

    • @carolinel.3909
      @carolinel.3909 2 года назад +1

      @@RachelClare I'm also homeschooled so I wouldn't have to be away for hours each day. From a time perspective, I'm sure I could care for them at any age.

      @RachelClare  2 года назад

      Yes the only reason I said 6 weeks for kittens is because they need bottle feeding every 2-3 hours before that age including in the night! But if they have a mummy cat to do that then you could have them from newborn really. You sound very mature for your age I think you’d make a great fosterer🙂

    What made you want to start fostering?

    • @RachelClare
      @RachelClare  4 года назад +2

      I really wanted a kitten but my mum said we already had too many pets lol so fostering is just temporary and cost free!

    I really want to foster kittens and my mum says yes, i will be at School Soon and my mum works is it ok to leave then alone for the day?x

    • @RachelClare

      As long as the kittens are at least around 6 weeks old then that should be fine! The younger they are the more care they need (I am bottle feeding 4 week olds throughout the day at the moment). By 6 weeks old they are usually fully weaned onto normal kitten food. Kittens do need lunch but as long as you leave out plenty of food then they should be fine. Just talk to your local RSPCA or whoever you’re fostering from and tell them as they will give you the right fit for your household x

    Hi I live in London and I want to foster can you please tell me we’re you got them and what website

    • @lilmaz1072
      @lilmaz1072 4 года назад

      And we’re did u fill in a form online to foster and they will tell u if they have new born kitten there

    • @RachelClare
      @RachelClare  4 года назад

      You have to go to your local RSPCA branch. They will need to access you to make sure you are suitable to foster. I don’t live in London but I’m sure they have one there. They will need to see your house ect. They don’t usually give newborn kittens out to new fosterers you’ll probably more likely get ones that are 6 weeks+. You should be able to find your local RSPCA branch online and then you’ll need to ring them.

    Would you ever foster other animals?

    • @RachelClare
      @RachelClare  4 года назад +2

      Probably not because kittens are very easy. We did get asked if we wanted to foster a dog but that would have upset our other cats and been too much work as we already have a dog that takes up a lot of our time and gets jealous if we fuss other dogs haha. Kittens are so cute and easy to care for!
