That's right! The real story is that Loretta saw the Krystal hamburger chain and suggested Brenda Gail take on the name Crystal Gayle. Loretta just changed her version of the story that night on the Opry stage during Crystal's Opry induction. :)
I believe you're confusing induction into the Grand Ole Opry with induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Ray Price joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1951 and was inducted into the CMHOF in 1996. Marty Robbins joined the Opry on Jan 19, 1953, and was inducted into the CMHOF in Oct 1982. He died Dec 8, 1982.
