PSA stopped listing the H&R A2 stripped or finished upper receiver with the M4 cuts. You now have to order the entire complete upper with barrel to get the H&R upper receiver with the M4 cuts which is still being offered. Rifle receivers generally work okay with M4 cut barrel extensions but finding other barrel manufacturers that use the rifle cut extension on their barrels to match the receiver isn't easy. When I bought my stripped H&R A2 upper from PSA not too long ago you had a choice of M4 cut or rifle cut. The JSE you showcased has the M4 receiver cuts. Wonder why H&R stopped offering the A2 M4 cut version? They aren't showing "out of stock" or that they can be "backordered" just no longer listed! Good info on the JSE as I only use M4 cut receivers and barrel extensions even though it's not correct for an A2.
Howdy Pete! Thank you for the great comment. I recently ordered an A1 slick side from JSE and it didn’t have the M4 ramps. I did a video on the upper a few weeks ago. I am still waiting on a decent deal for a pencil barrel to finish that build. I also like to have my builds as accurate as I can. It’s all about the details!
Awesome video, these retro builds are fun to do. There are four critical tools I have found that help allot if your building or working on more than one or two rifles. The Geisele reaction rod to line up the star chamber and lock the upper in place when applying torque, magpul armorers wrench, wheeler flat sided punch set for that pesky bolt catch, and a magazine block for the vise.
Howdy, Appalachian Ballistics! I was watching your A2 build and saw where you listed the prices. Let me try to remember them. $429 for the PSA complete upper, $140 for the H & R A2 stripped lower receiver, $109.99 for the JSE stripped A2 upper. You said you had a dust cover assembly and a forward assist assembly in "stock". LOL! I think you then said the complete build cost you $779. So, I missed you talking about the A2 sight assembly. Apparently, it cost $100. That's good, man! I wanted to make sure you're aware PSA also offers an A2 lower receiver which also has the "Property of U.S. Gov't." A2 markings for $59.99. The only discernible difference to me is instead of saying Harrington & Richardson, this particular lower says Palmetto State Armory. I love your videos, the builds & others. Another favorite for me was the Colt AR15 A4. Thanks, man from another Appalachian hillbilly in the N. Ga. mountains, Young Harris!
Hey man, thank you for the kind words! I love the M-16/AR platform rifle, I have been really enjoying building different versions and collecting. That is a great price on the PSA marked lower. I have gave them a lot of business! I have to delete their emails sometimes to stop me from ordering another build lol. Thank you John!
Those newer delta rings are rediculous. The XM 177 build that I did was completely stopped by the delta ring. I had it in a vise with a buddy helping and it wouldn't budge.
I’ve seen a lot of guys just reach up and pull down and take the guards off, I’ve never been able to do that. The last PSA 20” build I did, PSA had the barrel nut so dang tight, I had to take it to a gunsmith in Knoxville and it two of them to loosen it. On this one, they had grease on it and it came off easily.
You may need to change the front sight because of the front sight post are different as in height ..i done this a couple of times cant remember the size difference between the two but there is. .nice build mann i just got done with my H&R / D.O.E 9mm build but my camera is toasted so no videos on a lot of builds right now ..i need to stop getting gun parts so i can get a new camera 😅 .ps you can see what I've been up to by my community posts
Give-A-Way winner is Layne, congrats and thank you for watching!
I like your A2 build. That’s a great idea swapping out the parts. I am going to have to do that.
Thank you Exile, let us know how your build turns out!

Why not just run a tapered round file through the receiver if you’re that worried?
@@johnb.6468 That's an option but then you are removing the hard anodize.

Hey thanks man, I used an alignment tool as welll for the gas rod, I forget to include it. I do need a good vise block.
@@n721sw You can always do the pasta trick to check if it’s aligned.
